Help me decide where to stay when I go to Disneyland in September. (This is still not definite because we maybe moving and changing jobs so we will see) We are planning on four nights. Really five but we arrive late and I would move hotels and just stay at a cheap place the first night.

Here’s what I’m considering.

Hyatt House $857 minus two $60 Amex credits so $737.

Fairfield Marriott $762 minus two $40 Amex credits so $683.

Sheraton Park $672 minus two $40 Amex credits would the Marriott offer work? If so $592.

Paradise pier $1684

DL hotel $2200 or 329,000 AA miles.

My baby and the best hotel ever $3,000 or 400,000 AA miles

I feel like the AA miles cost is insane.
On your list I have only stayed at HH and the 3 DLR hotels. If you have the AA miles, go with your baby, there's nothing finer and the new Craftsman Bar and Grill just opened, so you could spend lots of pool time enjoying that! Otherwise, I'd pick Fairfield since it would be the closest and I think you've stayed there before? You could also do a split stay.

I’d probably go with paradise pier. Those miles would get you first or business international. Unless you have a steady stream of AA miles I’d save them.

I have never been to DL, but I would personally pick DL hotel! I just love the way the rooms look with the fireworks over the headboard. :cloud9:

I know you love Grand Californian, but you will stay there with the ABD and you are now an owner so maybe try something different? :scratchin

Has anyone noticed that the agency that usually has magical Disney deals only has Pop century available in 2020 so far? I was hoping if I couldn’t use AA miles I could at least get a good rate through the TA and use discount gift cards. I guess Disney isn’t letting anyone have booking access for their rooms in 2020.

I am really considering giving Universal my business instead for 2020. I am going to think about it this month and book by Aug. I’m tired of waiting around to book a Disney room. I want my plans done!

I saw that too. I was assuming (hoping) other hotels and dates would be added later.
I’m not familiar with how they release their exclusives and when. Fingers crossed there is more to come.

Planning a trip to Disney for November 2020. Thinking about getting on the GrAAvy train to pay for the hotel. I've read through the info on the DISchurners Reddit page but I'm still confused on a few things.

1) I did not have an AAdvantage account (I never fly AA), so I just signed up. I think I understand that for additional applications I will need to obtain a mailer myself, but for my first card, am I correct that they will send me one because I just signed up for AAdvantage?

2) Since I currently have 0 AA points it will not let me into the useaamiles site to look around. I want to figure out how many points I'm going to need for my trip. How many points per night are typically needed for a moderate resort?

Thanks for the help!

They don’t have 2020 rates available yet on AA miles. But for 2019 I’d say 20-25,000 per night was good enough for a moderate. I think @SouthFayetteFan has gotten over 500,000 AA miles in a few months in two player mode with only Biz cards.

Thanks for everyone’s input on the hotel situation for my trip. I’m so conflicted you guys are all making good points. I asked SO and he said it’s your birthday let’s do the Grand but 3k is so much money and so is 400,000 AA miles!! Plus we will be staying there a lot now. Ugh idk lol

Budget-related question: fluoride treatments for adult teeth, yes or no? I went to a new dentist today and the hygienist recommended it. Said insurance likely won't cover it and it's $40. I'm pretty sure DH and I have had them in the past but our most recent ex-dentist didn't recommend (either that or we said no at first and weren't asked again).

I get it. Figure it can't hurt. I've never had a cavity. Maybe it's working. Or maybe I'll never have one with or without fluoride. :rotfl:

I think I'm going to break down and do Award Wallet Plus... I was going to make a bunch of program accounts for ILs for their travel, then I can track it all with ours in case somehow some of the random points become helpful :confused3

I think we’re gonna do the Dave and busters deal on Friday, stay the night at Disney, and do Disney springs Saturday. Has anyone stayed in the Hilton’s at Disney springs? We have 41k points to use up. The rates for one night are showing 37-41k which seems high to me but idk. What do you guys think? The double tree is the cheapest at 37k points

We have done that D & B deal several times in MD. Although my DH is really good at some of the ticket games and has sold several game cards for some nice $ on eBay. We’ve actually been to the D & B in Orlando. And Va Beach, Richmond, Phoenix, etc...

Without a question, whichever of the cheaper ones gives a free breakfast. lol I can't imagine what would entice me to pay 5x more for a hotel. Though I am the queen of cheapness and I really don't like fancy hotels. The only thing that would make me pay more would be some kind of unlimited Fastpass deal, otherwise, cheapy wins.

Thoughts on CIU Support Links

This is potentially big news for people who are struggling to hit the $5k MSR on the CIP repetitively. CIPpy cup is great but can be an overwhelming amount of MSR. (Especially in 2 player mode). We don’t specifically have DPs though to know if you can drink from the CIUpy cup though so somebody will need to be first. I bet it works though!

IF It works, you would get 69,500 URs per signup (50k + 15k + 4.5k) for a $3,000 MSR vs 105k with CIPpy for a $5,000 MSR. AND no annual fee on the CIUpy cup. The CIU is actually a better % return. One problem is for people who don’t have a CIC or CIU yet, you can’t get that initial 15k (or you have to downgrade a CIP if you’ve had one open a year). So that first card might need to be done using a DISchurner link.

No matter how you look at it, this is a great thing to come the game. More options is always better!!!

I agree that the AA miles cost is crazy. Or at least that was my thought when I priced out my fave which is your fave as well. I'd say DLH for a change since you have VGC anyway. Or just save a bunch and pick one of the offsite places and plan some amazing overseas trip with those miles. ;)

But I could also contradict myself and say that perhaps it just makes more sense to ride CIPpy even if you have to use Venmo or something like that to hit the last $2k MSR...(can you use Venmo with CIP??)

I love Dave and busters. My dad always took us when we were kids in Atlanta. I’ve been to the one in Omaha too. I’m just not sure where to stay at Disney springs
