Disney's BOARDWALK INN Information & Questions

Just curious, when you are splitting with the Poly - did one resort stand out more than the other?

I did a split stay from the Boardwalk to Bay Lake Tower - and when I got to BLT - it became obvious how much better the Boardwalk was! I felt like I was boxed in at BLT - and there was no where to go outside that resort......
It’s so hard to say....
Each has its own great benefits and qualities. BWI is so vibrant and fun with entertainment and easy access to epcot which we love. We would miss the area if we did the whole stay at Poly.
However when we get to the Poly I really feel home and just completely relaxed. I just love the environment and music and overall vibe.
I don’t feel boxed in an either but being at BWI offers so many opportunities for park access and going into Epcot anytime just can’t be beat!! I guess I feel a little more isolated at the Poly but in a good way.
I guess that's why we do a split when we stay for a long trip. I’m not sure if that’s helpful but I hope so :-)

I had a question about room view. I booked a water view. Does that guarantee a room looking out over the Boardwalk?

Thank you! We’ve had such a great time! One more night and then off to the Poly!

Glad you're having a great time! Enjoy the Poly :cloud9:.

4 days until check-in for our very 1st BWI stay. It's been on the bucket list for a while.

BWI is a great resort! Have a great trip :wizard:.

I agree! Both have a lot to offer in different ways ;)

35 days til we are at our very first BWI stay! We have Garden View - any suggestions for room requests?

Good to know! Since we're getting the dining plan for "free" (I know not actually free as we sacrificed a room discount, but it still turned out to be a great deal), I'm not really worried about maximizing the QS credits. We love character meals, so I'm getting my value out of the TS credits. For QS I just want to have decent and convenient meals.

Late to the game. We got the new formula pizza in March on the DDP. It included the personal pizza, a drink, and either a side salad or dessert. The pizza was perfectly fine but nothing to write home about. The portion size, especially with the order of mini cannoli included, was probably bigger than other QS meals available on Crescent Lake.

I also walked over to Hurricane Hannah to use a few QS there. If you order at the bar (but not the separate QS counter), you can get their drinks with your credit. My kids love burgers, which aren't on the BW pool menu, so I swung over there a couple times to get them a burger and me a fun adult beverage.

I should have included that we've never had the personal pizzas from the window, only the full size. This can make a big difference at times since the crust will vary in many circumstances. Don't know if it is the case here or not just making the reference that my earlier recommendation is based on the full size pizza

@KerryCM and @AngiTN would probably know better than me, but I have heard that the Boardwalk pizza is not that great. But, it may be a good use of a QS credit. However if the pool bars are open at BW or YC they are a better value if you include mixed adult drinks! Ample Hills or BW Bakery cupcakes are a great use of a snack credit without going into the parks.
Jumping in here as I was browsing to see whats new at the BW...we check in next Friday!
I love the pizza there. Maybe I'm easy to please, but we don't do the dining plan and find it is a great value for the dollar for a Disney meal. We usually take the boat over from BC/YC for pizza during our stays.

I wouldn’t think that it would matter how many resorts the gondolas come from. Only one gondola at a time can arrive at the station in the IG.
I think the concern is that with several large resorts that the gondolas will often be arriving full to capacity. I forget exactly how close together they arrive but I think it is like every minute or 2 and they can hold up to 10 people per gondola. Thus backing up IG unless they add a lot more bag checkers as a lot of people bring bags and they aren’t getting through a whole gondola full of people’s bags before the next one arrives
While I am a little disappointed about the increased business at IG I’m more concerned that this will lead to larger crowds along the boardwalk as it will make it so much easier for people staying on the gondola line to access the boardwalk.

Larger crowds along the Boardwalk = more revenue for Disney, so I wouldn’t be surprised if that was one of the factors they considered when contemplating building the gondola system.

Oh I’m sure Disney will be happy....but those of us who stay at the boardwalk won’t lol.

Eh, I'm not sure why it's a problem. We stay almost every trip at the BWI and more crowds coming to see things on the Boardwalk won't bother us.
Heck, it could be great. Could mean more entertainers are needed at once
