Hmm. I have the Exxon offer on my BBP (2x MR, but still working on MSR), but not my BGR (3x MR). Do I add it to my BBP now, or wait and see if the offer will show up on my BGR. What a churner’s dilemma.

So dh’s AC in his car went out last week (the day after they dropped his car off from being shipped). He spent all of today trying to fix it on his own and paid a decent amount on the parts to do it. He said he doesn’t think he can fix it any further and it isn’t working. Now we’re at the point where we can’t decide if we should put anymore money into this car or start working on getting a new one. I really would rather not deal with a new car after just buying a house. We’ve been spending quite a bit on things for the house and services to keep up the house (pool crew, lawn care, pest treatments). But at the same time I don’t want to put money into his car when it clearly sucks and might not continue to work. Sigh....#firstworldproblems
Aww...what kind of car is this? One of my mechanics fixed my ac and I expected a huge bill. When I got there to pick it up, his response was that most people shouldn't be allowed around an ac system. He was able to fix it by draining or purging the system and simply refilling it with the correct amount of refrigerant. He said it had been overfilled at some point. My ac is ice cold and has worked well in Florida on 3 trips. And the cost was very little.

I’m sorry, but I don’t have any sympathy for newbies who don’t read anything before asking questions and expect everything to be handed to them, especially when it comes to a hobby like churning that involves complex financial decisions. There are guides and rules and clearly labeled thread titles everywhere on that subreddit that help to bring useful information to the fore, and provide safe places to ask questions about the how things work, what card they should get, etc. I subscribe to other subreddits and they’re a mess; fun or useful content can get buried by sh*tposts within a matter of hours. I admit my nasty side comes out on r/churning and I’ll downvote questions with a vengeance if they’re in the wrong place or they’ve clearly not done their reading before asking.

Glad you are not like that here!

Happy Monday!! And a week with a day off in it, thank goodness!
So today is the day I am supposed to hear back from Ginger on my missing Delta 80k miles, that are still NOT in my account. Wanna take some bets on this?

On my CIP, I have hit the MSR, 4975 posted on the cut statement Friday. A $33 purchase hit Saturday. It only shows the 33 points to be posted on the next statement, should it be showing the bonus miles already to show on the next statement?

Thanks!

Ok need some advice this morning on what to do for my next card now that Hilton personal isn't on the table. Couple ideas...

1. Amex Rose Gold- yeah, I know I JUST said that I got the pop up. But, I did have a message appear several times when logging into Amex recently telling me that I was pre-approved for the gold card. So I'm wondering if I try that again now and see if I get the pop up. I do think I could make good use of this card, plus I have no MR earning cards yet.
2. Capital One Venture- branching out to Capital One for the first time since I have nothing with them except an old AU on my mom's card. I need a GE credit here soon, so this would be a good one for me.
3. BoA Premium Rewards- I know how you feel about this one, @SouthFayetteFan lol. I am a longtime BoA customer and do all my banking with them and have my very first CC with them, so I think I could probably get this card easily. Again, GE credit is there. Not sure how useful their points are there so maybe someone can chime in? I have the old Amerideals card with them, so I've only ever used it for cashback.

Future travel plans:
1. Japan: need more hotel points, or something that can erase hotel charges.
2. Hawaii: need United miles to get there most likely. Obviously need more hotel points too.

I'm locked out of GrAAvy train until mid August, locked out of Chase on my account until at least October, but honestly I should probably cool it with them until like January 2020 since I now have seven cards with them. I'm cancelling my Barclays Aviator Biz card this month, and maybe can get something else with them in the next couple months? Thoughts? I'd love to know if I'm missing something or leaving a great card off the table!

I have the BoAPR card and like it a lot. The points can be redeemed as a direct deposit into your checking account, or a cc statement credit at 1pt=1cent with a minimum 2500 point redemption. Or you can redeem points toward travel booked through BoA's travel portal (like Chase's UR portal). Once you have over 2500 pts you can redeem any amount of points, i.e. it does not have to round to the lowest hundred. It's my default card to use if I don't have MSR to meet.

BoA's Preferred Honors program gives you a boost on rewards, so if you have assets to park there the % cash back improves. Joint brokerage accounts with Merrill Lynch (both the self-directed Edge and full service CMAs) count toward your BoA assets for that program.

The BankAmeriDeals under "Special Offers" is identical to Chase Offers. You activate the offer, buy with the card, and you get a statement credit.

I really like the $100 airline agnostic incidental travel credit on this card. I can use it on any airline; I'm not stuck with having to pick just one airline for the year like you have to with the Amex cards.

I pc'd one of DH's old BoA cards to the Cash Rewards MC which was revamped earlier this year. You might consider this with your old Amerideals card (but note that a pc dq's you for the $200 SUB). You can choose your 3% category (I picked online shopping, but any travel I pay for online also counts as online shopping), and the Preferred Honors program applies here as well. So for us, DH's card earns 5.25% for online shopping (maxed out at 2500/quarter).

I wish BoA had travel transfer partners like Chase, Amex, and now the Cap1 Venture cards. The ability to transfer points is why I continue to spend with Amex and Chase.

I hate the extra one MR per dollar offers. lol

My problem with them is, while they’re nice, they’re really only useful when stacked with another Amex Offer that gives cash back or MR, but you don’t know when or on which card a corresponding offer will appear. So right now, I have the Best Buy and Staples extra MR offers sitting unclaimed because I know eventually Amex will release cash back offers for Best Buy and Staples, and then I’ll add the extra MR offers on the card that gets targeted.

Ok, so AmEx is glitching out, guess they're updating something in the system. I noticed my MR points balance was a little higher so I looked to see what could have possibly posted. They paid out a MR offer from last year 4 times last week... that they already paid out last year :confused3
Hopefully this means they're fixing something else and this was a byproduct of getting that fix right. I hope when they take it back they don't screw that up.

It can take up to a week after the qualifying purchase posts for the SUB to go pending with Chase cards.

Sure diet buster, baking cookies. I love cookie dough, though I didn't eat any of the chocolate chips because I kind of prefer the dough without them. And I made myself 3 cookies without the chips because that's all I want for a nibble anyway and I probably won't eat them all. But 92 cookies in all, thank goodness they are a quick bake so I got it all done in about an hour and a half.

For sure need to get one of those guard things for my kitchenaid, had a bit of flour to clean up since I was doing a double batch. Only put in 1/2 cup at a time so it wasn't too bad but enough. Do any of you have one of those? Does it work well? I have a hinged mixer with a metal bowl.
I was doing the exact same thing as you were on Friday. 96 chocolate chip cookies baked for the 4th of July festivities. I do not have a guard for my kitchenaid mixer, but probably need to get one. I do the same thing, 1/2 cup of flour at a time. My recipe take 4 1/2 cups, and usually by the 3rd or 4th 1/2 cup it starts to blow out a little bit.

I didn't get it and Exxon is the closest one to me. It's also the most expensive so even at 10%, I can probably beat the deal just spending at Costco with my 4% citi card. Exxon is at 2.67 near me and 2.35 at Sams and 2.39 at Costco. Yes, after doing the calculation, Sam's or Costco are still cheaper.

Right now I'm still enjoying my $1.50 off per gallon from Giant fuel perks.
I will be trying to max that in future.

Well so much for the Wells Fargo bank bonus. They denied my account I tried to open online. They may be able to open one in person, yeah I think I will pass LOL. I only do a bank bonus if they are easy. I used to have a Wells Fargo account, many moons ago, I even worked there. Guess they don't like me anymore :-)

I had a double pay out last week and I'm waiting for it to be snatched back.

So here is a question for you all... even though I don't see too much mention of Capital One around here. (I posted this same question elsewhere awhile back but since you are all credit card aficionados I thought you'd have more experience with it).

I got a Capital One card last fall before we went to Japan specifically to avoid foreign transaction fees (this is of course before I knew about all the other options out there!). Card worked great; the Capital One app is great (much better than the Chase app IMO), all that. But TWICE in 6 months they decided that my payment was late. I use bill pay through my credit union with them just like I have for all my other bills (including Chase) for years, and on two separate occasions they did not process my payment in a timely manner.

I've stopped using the card (which is fine... I don't actually need or want it any more anyway) but I am just curious whether any of you have had a similar experience specifically with them.
