Learned of a minor hiccup in our rewards earning plan today. Was hoping to use CIP on a tuition payment, but school only takes AMEX, MC, and Discover.
We don't need it to make MSR on the CIP, but I don't want to waste such a significantly valuable organic spend!
If I had to pay it today, I would use my Cap One Quicksilver (1.5%), but I'm wondering if there's a better option.
I'm currently 0/24; P2 1/24 (5/19 Cap One Savor)
Not really sure we want to enter the AMEX world of MRs just yet.

DH does have Marriott, SW, Hilton & Hyatt rewards points, but no co-branded cards.
Any suggestions?

Another vote for a Platinum card, esp. the Biz. We knocked that one out with one tuition payment and got 100MRs plus extra since they give (IIRC) 1.5 points to any spend over 5K.

I'm cursed! Checking my emails today I had one that said my discover account was overdrawn. I'm like ***? I logged in to find that someone had stolen $5k. Good thing I didn't have my $30k balance in there! I'm SICK of getting hacked! My hilton account twice, my IHG card, my Aspire card and now my discover savings. ***! So PSA of the day, check EVERYTHING! Now onto changing ALL of my account info and logins!

Maybe run your credit reports too. Make sure no one has opened new accounts you don’t know about. I do have most of my accounts set up for text alerts for purchases over $200 and charges with no card present. Some of the card issuers are better at this than others.

Wild Africa Trek booked for mid August. It’s going to be crazy hot but should be a fun experience. DD is so excited she’s finally old enough to go on it.

I've been dying to do this with DD20...and a few other tours...while she gets them so cheap, but I don't think I can bring myself to not take DD3 with me in July and that is the last DCP trip. Now that she is old enough she remembers what WDW is, she would be so sad to be left at home. Sigh. I really enjoy our trips together too.

DD just booked us...July 13-17 at BW for $161/night. I'm so going to miss these discounts.

Not the same (especially the heat level) but we did MK on New Years Eve morning/early afternoon. It was crazy packed, parking was a far walk, but it was the most organized chaos I’ve ever seen. Disney has major crowds down pat and will be fully staffed and expecting them that day. Rides will be running at full capacity, lots of FP slots will be open. If you can snag some good FP and are good to just go with the flow you’ll have a blast. MK went into the first level closure around noon. The only thing that could make me hesitate is the heat. In Dec the weather was perfect. July, not so much but it would still be fun to go and experience. I was worried about NYE but we had a blast and have great memories. We got “stuck” just inside the gates of MK as the parade was passing. We ended up with front row spots for the whole thing. It was so cool.

On and off for a couple years at least. It's difficult for him to maintain though because we are frequently out of town (mini vacations) or doing big social gatherings, etc. and eating is so often a social thing! He is constantly sending me links to YouTube videos touting the benefits. I'd rather read an article but he doesn't send me those!

Haha. My wife is the same way. She’s flying out of SFO for another work trip to Japan the next day, and spending the day before at the airport when she doesn’t have to be there is not her idea of a weekend.

If I book a Marriott night using my free certificate, do i still have to pay resort fees? And how good are they with a cancelation?

I've used one of my free night certificates and one of DH's -- I didn't get charged a resort fee for either property, and both were recent stays 5/29/19 and 6/1/19. One was a Westin, one was a Marriott; I think it depends on the property itself whether there is a resort fee or not. It will say when you're booking and click on "Room Total Summary" or "Summary of Charges" (on the page where you would enter your credit card info). Cancelling is no problem at all as long as you've done it by the cancellation deadline, e-cert goes right back into your account. I don't know what happens if you miss the deadline.

The problem for me is any other kind of exercise is boring to me besides running. I like playing sports but it’s not like I can do that every day. I’ve tried walking, elliptical, and the bike and they’re all so boring

Same here. I have 6 nights booked on points for Aruba Marriott Stellaris. The cash rate shows taxes/fees of over $1000. My fees were $21.00 And no extra charges for the kids who are both over 18 in the room. So, It does depend on where you stay. I know the Swan/Dolphin you still have to pay the Resort Fees even on points bookings.
