AP prices increased [6/18/2019]

Neither of us camp! I was very skeptical at first, but the best thing we did was spend an entire Saturday at a couple of big RV open houses. We went inside everything and were impressed with the layouts. So we decided what would work for us and then waited for something used to become available...we didn’t have to wait long.

The bathrooms are tiny in them. But I will admit that after our last vacation, we agreed that hotels were starting to gross us out. We are updating the inside of our trailer, ripping out all the carpet and painting, to make it more ‘ours’.
My mom has an RV and we used to tent camp all the time when I was growing up so I know what I'm in for. I'm hoping I can convince my dh to try it. The biggest issue is the bathroom. My dh is a big guy, width wise, so I don't know if I'll ever convince him. Maybe I can get him to an RV show.... Anyways good luck on your RV reno!

Does anyone know when the Sam's Club voucher discount will end? We really won't need new AP's until end of November and I'm cringing in my seat thinking about laying out like 3k right now. I know I will save more now over renewing them thru Disney but there's that whole 'time value of money' thing to consider.

No idea when it will end, I’m assuming they have a set number to sell at that price. How many passes are you buying? We needed 4, and it saved us over 1K to buy from Sams now and hold onto them until our November trip. Even if I didn’t use them for another year, I couldn’t make 1K investing that small of an amount in one year. Not even a few years.

We have never bought AP's before. We have a trips planned for 12/19, 9/20 and 12/20. Our 12/20 trip would have 2 days when the our AP's will have expired. If we don't want to renew I assume we would just have to buy 2 days worth of tickets right?

Yes that’s exactly what you’d need to do.
It would most likely save you some money if you could back your trip up those two days, unless hotel rates are crazy high or unavailable.

Does anyone know if I can get the AP voucher from AAA and use it to upgrade tickets I've purchased elsewhere when I arrive at Disney? I have tickets and a package already, which I don't want to cancel, but I would like to get the discount on the AP if possible.

Nope you can only use one ticket to upgrade. You cant combine tickets to upgrade. @Robo may be able to explain better.

Thanks! Yeah I def think going to a show will help decide if it’s doable for him. Good luck!

I’m not sure if you mean when to buy through sams or when the passes are good through but when I added my voucher to my MDX account yesterday it had the normal activate by 2030 date.

If I have a Platinum Plus annual pass and want to change to a Platinum pass when I renew is that considered a new pass or is it still a renewal?

I am with you on this. I was wanting to upgrade next summer. Just paid for our condo in Clearwater and AKL room, I don’t really want to spend that right now when I won’t need them until next summer, however it kills me thinking about the extra 1,000 it may cost next summer if I wait and those Sam’s prices go away.

Did you ever figure out how to see annual pass rates with a unactivated AP?

I’ve called and emailed, both times was told that I would need to call to get the rates and book. I replied back to the email saying I didn’t want to call and asked if IT could look into it. I doubt they’ll do anything.

So the prices of the Sams APs will vary depending on where you live or setup your membership address? It’s too late now for us but wondering if we’d have saved 3% if we had our folks buy them in MI vs us in IL. I am still thinking about a 2nd set of APs for far down the rd.
I'm not sure this is the case. My state has no sales tax and from time to time I will check the annual pass rate at the Disney Outlet. When I asked why they would charge sales tax they stated because you are using it in FL. Wondering if this is really the case.

Other than having to front the costs now, are there any other factors to consider if I purchase AP from Sam’s now and hold them until the 50th celebration begins? Any risk that what I’m buying now won’t be acceptable as an AP in 2 years and would require additional costs to upgrade then? My husband is questioning my Disney math and saying there has to be a “catch” that I’m not thinking of.

That's a crazy increase. Well, I'm glad I decided to make 2019 our year of Disney. It was the first year, and now it turns out, our only year, that we'll have APs (we're not locals). We went in Feb, May, and our next trip is December. Not sure when we will be able to make it back, but I'm guessing late 2020. We've been priced out of AP's/multiple trips. :(

Sounds like an issue with your AP's being loaded correctly. The error message is telling you that. It's not recognizing your AP's. I'm looking at my daughters account right now with a non activated AP and she does not have a current AP. I can see the PH rates. I'd call IT about that issue, not that you can't see the PH rates. Once they're properly loaded, you'll be able to see them.

I'm still having an issue with this, and have called, chatted, and emailed. They are all telling me I can't view rates until my pass is active, which we know isn't true based on just your experience. Can you tell me if you go to your daughters profile on MDE, if the passes are visible there? I can only see ours under My Plans. Nothing shows on my profile, it wants me to load them, but again I can't because they've already been assigned.

Can I ask if the $1847 out the door price for 2 AP sounds the same as the rate you had in your no sales tax state? We have a whopping 9-13% tax on various goods and services so would like to be certain.
