Yacht Club vs Beach Club

hi everyone

Our last two stays we stayed at the contemporary tower theme park view. Next visit I want to change it up to either yacht club or beach club, just not sure which. We’re a family of 4 and our next stay our girls will be either 5/7 or 6/8.

Can you experts help explain the differences between the two? Thanks!

YC - pet friendly, full balconies

BC - not pet friendly, some “Juliet” standing balconies, closer to Epcot

They share most amenities.

YC - no carpet = feels cleaner.
Quieter, darker decor, smaller.
Typically has better room discount rates.
Closer to boat dock.

BC - closer to Epcot by 2-3 minutes.

I think Yacht Club is more “adult” and sophisticated-feeling. I liked the atmosphere of being on a luxury ocean liner without actually having to be on one. I thought it was just a bit more unique than Beach Club. Growing up near the Jersey shore, the Beach Club was not unlike many of the hotels, B&B’s, restaurants, etc you’d find there so I wasn’t that impressed, atmosphere wise. I actually find Beach Club to be more Jersey Shore than Boardwalk (though Boardwalk is more Atlantic City in its heyday). ANYWAY…

Yacht Club = Darker, Moodier, Sophisticated

Beach Club = Light, Pastel, Airy

I would say for young children then Beach Club is way to go. For adults only, Yacht Club. Older kids, I’m not sure. Beach Club is technically closer to Epcot/HS, but I really shouldn’t think it a selling point over Yacht Club as Yacht Club is merely a few yards behind. Yacht Club is *technically* closer to the boat launch.

Whatever you pick, you’ll get to enjoy Stormalong Bay and Beaches n’ Cream just the same, and be steps away from two of the parks, so have fun!!

Beach Club is closer to Epcot by about 2 minutes; Yacht Club is closer to Swan & Dolphin by about 3 minutes. Beach Club is lighter colours; Yacht Club is darker. Because there is a conference centre at the YC, I think it tends to be more adult-feeling and tends to have fewer children so BC might be a better environment for children. But both share the amazing pool and gym and, while not connected inside, it's a quick nip out one door and 20 feet to the next one so it's convenient access for restaurants in both. They share buses but have separate bus stops. We usually do BC but are trying YC for the first time in September since we haven't done that one yet. DH insists we've stayed there (we have not) because we usually go to the Ale & Compass (and its predecessor) for breakfast when we stay at the BC and he has trouble separating the two in his head. So when I said that we were doing YC because we hadn't yet (and convinced him - maybe - that we hadn't yet) he still says that it's basically the same resort as BC and that the difference is a mere technicality. We'll see how he, and I, feel when we've finished our stay.

Amenities are shared and the difference in distance to any park or transportation is negligible so it really comes down to preference on decor and whether or not being guaranteed a full balcony is important. As others have stated, the decor of Beach Club is more, well "beachy", ligher and airier felling where as Yacht Club is more classic/wood trim type decor.

I personally feel the views that Yacht Club is more adult and "stuffier" are just false. I think people get hung up on the name. There are generally more children in the Beach Club lobby simply because the Cape May character meal is right off the lobby.

So really, I always recommend to pick the one with the best price and with the room type availability you are looking for unless you are dead set on one decor over the other.

After a couple of MK resort stays, we tried the YC when my kids were 7 & 8 and they loved it! I never felt out of place with young kids there. We have stayed at both YC and BC and we all prefer YC due to the fact that all of the rooms have a full balcony and it is the first of 2 bus stops on the way to the parks so you are more likely to get a seat :)

We chose YC for the full balconies. My kids were young then, while I knew we were at a convention resort, we never once felt it.

We chose YC over BC as these two items are super important to us.

1- Almost all rooms have full balconies. A must for us.
2-Greater chance of getting a room with a day bed, YC rooms are more consistent.

One other difference is the bathroom set up. They are basically the same, but Yacht Club now has the barn doors that close off the dressing area as opposed to no door or barrier at Beach.
And you can request a full balcony or patio at Beach Club. They are both lovely resorts!

Thanks everyone. I think I’m leaning towards yacht club. Plus I think I’ll get more for my money there.

I think that's a good choice, we prefer it over the two. Another difference is the atmosphere in the lobby, with Beach having Cape May it feels much busier, while Yacht's lobby has a more relaxing feel.

I like YC rooms better, BC hotel and location (a few minutes closer to Epcot - it's clearly not a huge deal, but a preference of mine), and we almost always choose BC.

You can request one but it’s not likely. A lot of the full balconies at BC are club level. I agree with PP. Balcony is important to me so I always choose YC. Extra points if you get a lagoon view. The sounds of the boats is instant Disney to me

Incorrect. About 50% of BC rooms have balconies, not just Club level

This exactly! Choose the one with the better discount. If the prices are identical, chose the one with the better view for the price (water view at one may be the same cost as garden view at the other). Or just flip a coin. Lol. You can’t go wrong with either!!

I definitely thought about that. We went over to Poly one night two trips ago and it just felt so busy to us with everyone waiting for ohana, spirit of aloha....
