A couple of updates:

My 125k Hilton points from the SUB on my Hilton Amex Biz were in my account this morning! I should have enough points now to book the Hilton Tokyo Bay for our 2020 Japan trip. I met the MSR with my very first charge on the card. Knowing that can be a red flag for Amex RAT, I've continued to put some small charges on the card (up to about 10 charges total now) and will continue to do so for the next couple of weeks.

I hadn't seen any of the MR from my EBates purchases hitting my account, so I decided to look more closely at my EBates account. There is a note indicating a big chunk of the MR I've earned will be transferred to my Amex account on May 15, so just a couple of days. I also saw that there is an itemized list of the points earned, and everything tied out except I was missing 450 points from a Patagonia purchase I made in mid-April. There is a form on the EBates site to fill out for missing points, and it was very straightforward. They immediately credited my account for the missing $4.50 cash back (450 MR) while they sorted things out with Patagonia. Within an hour, I had a confirmation that the 450 MR were a permanent add to my account, so that was very efficient.

I received my CIC on Friday and am about halfway through that MSR already. Not sure whether to be happy or frightened by that fact.....

It has now been 6 days and still nothing on the Barclays Biz card....so annoying.

On the planning discussion on here due to the fact that I work for a company that has complimentary hotel rooms as a benefit but only a super small allocated amount I am always booking things a full 13 months out as that is when they roll in/can grab the limited availability. I am happy to have next Memorial Day set in stone and I booked this Memorial Day trip (Huntington Beach/Disneyland) last April.

ok so just got my mail and have 5 new cards. My CSR replacement card I requested a week before I left for my trip came today. It has a different expiration and ccv code. Will the old and the new card both still work? I really don't like the new spg lux card. Will the old purple one still work even though this new metal one has a different expiration and ccv code?

someone might have posted this and I missed it. Received the new CIU cards that were originally sent as CIC cards bc chase ran out of the CIU. these cards all have the same info but I didn't need duplicates of these.

How much do you put on credit cards each month? Do you pay them off in full each month also? Most of these offers require some level of spend (i.e. $2,000 or $5,000 in 3 months). We'd want to make sure our recommendations match your comfortable level of spend.

We spend about $9000 monthly on cards and pay everything off at the end of the month. Thanks I will check my PM

Sometimes I just come up with a gem of a comment, lol! It seems that you liked everything I had to say :flower3: LOL!
lol i think you were able to confirm everything i was already thinking of doing. Like I said we bank with chase and i already thought the chase freedom might be a good option and i just had to also check what a good card with no FX fees. I knew this board would clarify and makes sense of my plans. lol

We are looking for sign on bonuses, cash back or travel rewards
the highest bonus for Ultimate rewards is chase ink preferred (its a business card, but if you have sold anything in the past few years you can count that, or given advice) its 80k UR for $5k spend in 3 months. if you redeem for travel then you get 1.25x vs the cash out 1x. example if choose to pay for a hotel. your hotel costs $500.00 then using UR will cost you 40,000 UR. or you can cash out for 1 UR=.01 but you get more cashing out for travel. Also, you can refer your wife and get 20k for the referral.

SWA has their bonus up to 60k currently

check out the dischurners group as there are quite a few links there when you decide to apply.

Just told DD18 that your DD got approved for her 4th (right?) card and is she ready yet for card 1 (still trying to get her Discover from older DDs link)? Nope. Where did I go wrong? :confused3
Yes, this was her 4th (not including the AUer’s). What is your dd worried about? My dd hears me rattle on about this stuff all the time so I think she just assumes this is the norm if you want to travel cheaply lol. And since she’s paying so much of her own way now, she is super interested in saving money on travel.

I totally agree with your thoughts, and hope you don't think I was trying to point you somewhere else. I think the CF card is great and I hope she can get it, but just remind her not to use it on the trip since it will have the FTF. Will she be doing a lot of foreign travel? If not, I'd maybe place the no FTF criteria low on the list for your everyday card and just look for the best one she can qualify for (she can use one of yours as an AU for this trip). I hope it's the CF but I thought Chase liked to see some credit history before approving for that card so it's a toss up. They did have the CFU listed as a student card at one point and a few on the thread here had their student's approved for it. That's doing the 3% in the first year offer right now, so that's also not a bad card to try for, just straight 3% back on whatever she spends without having to worry about categories. She could either cash it out or hoard it until she could get approved for premium card later. I don't think you could go wrong with either.
nope i definitely come to this board to hear everyone's different opinions and perspective. I don't think she will do much traveling after this trip at least not out of the country. I think that ill look for a good card for her and add her as a AU on on of my no Fx fee. If chase won't take her ill look into discover or capital one. I do want her to start working on her credit.

It will get harder as your girls get older. Unless you don't mind pulling them from school. I was not OK pulling for more than 2 days in a row. My kids were top of the class students, so it is not like they would fall behind, but they just didn't want to have to make up work. And our High school policy is more than 3 days absent and they take finals, so they also didn't want to miss because of that. Add in that our school district refuses to put out our school calendar until the end of the school year, we just now got our next years schedule, super frustrating. Add in sports, mandatory practices, tournaments, mandatory band camp, and and and it was super hard to plan ahead! Our Yellowstone trip, that I already was way behind in planning for this July, was able to snag some in park rooms just last month is already in jeopardy of being cancelled. If DD does this Australia thing it totally messes up my plans. She would fly back home while we were in middle of trip. Grrrrrr I can't plan anything in advance. Trying to see if I can rearrange some things, fly into SLC instead of Denver, but it is super pricey. And I still think it may just be DH and I. Oldest DD won't be back, other DD will be working and DS is still waiting to hear from a summer job he applied for.

I can't like this post enough!! I love to plan and have trips mentally planned out years in advance but we always have our trips booked about a year in advance. Of course now that oldest DD is starting HS all sorts of wrenches are being thrown in. We had a trip out to CO planned in July/August. Well low and behold that turns out to the the week of pre-season cross country camp. So we scrambled and changed everything to a week earlier including changing her little sisters camps for those weeks.

So if you're able to plan in advance now, enjoy it while you can. I knew this day was coming but its evident that soon we will be looking at a narrow two week window in July to take a family trip. Oh and I have the added bonus of them being in two different school systems (public/private) to add to planning challenges.

DH is super sad. He got waitlisted for the PIT PP lounge. Even though it is tiny, we have never had issues getting in before.
Is it nice in there? Even though I have the membership or whatever through some of our premium cards I've never hit it up, lol. We always just get our Chick Fil A, eat by the windows overlooking the SW planes and runway and then head to the gate :)

Yes, this was her 4th (not including the AUer’s). What is your dd worried about? My dd hears me rattle on about this stuff all the time so I think she just assumes this is the norm if you want to travel cheaply lol. I have no idea! She said they maker her nervous. lol I guess it is good to be cautious, I would rather that than have her go hog wild with one. She knows I get a lot of them. She knows that is how I have paid for our last few trips. If she does do the Ecuador trip she will need to pay for it herself, but I don't think a CC will help her there. It is through school and she has to make payments by Venmo to someone. She is suppose to go to Canada for a week this summer but the room is paid for and I think they are driving up, so not really any help there either. I didn't mind paying for her gas when she was driving to school and practices as that was less gas for me, but now that she has a job this summer she will need to pay for her gas so I just need have her get the Discover soon. I don't like them paying gas with a debit card.

And, I'm sorry if your DS is a Tottenham fan, but I've got to root for Liverpool - they've had such an amazing run (and in any other year would have won the Premier League) :P
True but I think Tottenham would have done better if they had stayed healthy. Kane injured, Dele injured. Trippier, Rose, Winks, injured. Son shipped off to S Korea to play for a while. They had a lot of key players in & out this year. If Harry Kane had been healthy the whole year, I don’t think Spurs would have ended in 4th.
