(2014-2020) Disney's GRAND FLORIDIAN RESORT & SPA + VILLAS Information & Questions

EEEK! Got a call from Disney Guest Services that the YC is having some room inventory issues during our dates (5/19-5/24) so they are moving us on over to the Grand Floridian! We were doing CL at the YC so they have moved us to Sugarloaf. I am excited and a little at a loss since I have not stayed at a monorail resort since my very first trip at the Contemporary when I was 5 years old. Guess I'll be spending the next 12 days learning all about the GF!

Have a great trip :wizard:.

I get mistakes happen etc, but I find it so odd when the move people after they have booked. Do most people go along with this? Stay at a hotel they did not intend on staying? I don't know if I could, unless it was a mind blowing deal, I don't want Disney dictating where I stay and spend my $.

I've read reports of others telling Disney they don't want to move for whatever reason(s) and have been allowed to stay where they booked. However, with that said, sometimes it's not possible and Disney has no other choice but to move them, so I guess it really depends on the situation and what's going on at that particular resort ;).

17 DAYS UNTIL SUGARLOAF CLUB :flower1:

Have a great time! :goodvibes

That's happened to a lot of folks.
Guess some convention really dropped the ball on the number of rooms they needed
Funny thing is, with AP rates at least, GF is the cheapest Deluxe for that period so it's ironic that they also ended up moving so many folks there when the BC/YC oversold itself.
Hope everyone that gets moved is happy with their move. So far it seems they are. I know some are really married to that pool at BC/YC and GF isn't going to be the same though.
Haven't seem a complaint as of yet though

What are the dates of the convention at yc/bc? Or was convention moved to gf?

We are staying in a DVC one bedroom in October. We would like a king bed and a non-connecting room (too many bad experiences with noise). Is that possible? On the first posts it didn’t list one bedrooms, it looked like they were all part of lock-offs. Has anyone had noise issues staying in a DVC one bedroom?

They are all apart of a lockoff yes. So there will always be a connecting door to the studio next door. Only dedicated units are the 2 beds and grand villas.

As for a king bed each 1 bed has a master bedroom with a king bed, tub, and shower along with a living room with a queen sofa sleeper.

Any experience with how soundproofed these connecting doors are?. Thank you!

The lv is not much more and many have a peek of the castle for less price
......
For your situation I would go to the lobby and check in and ask for what you want, they can look through inventory to find you best option.
A good idea if there were LV rooms available. But there are not. So not an option

We almost always go to the lobby to check in since we arrive before 8:00 AM

Just returned on Friday from my first stay at Grand Floridian, and I have to say that I am now spoiled for life. We were pixie dusted with a Club Level room at Sugar Loaf, which didn't hurt, but I was so impressed with the resort and the service.

I don't know if I can go back to staying at other resorts again -- the 5 minute Monorail ride to MK was just so darned convenient!

That’s awesome!! Isn’t the Grand beautiful?!! Happy you had a great time! Did you take any pictures you can share?!

I listened to one of the podcast shows yesterday (I think it was the dining show - a review of the Grand Floridian Cafe). In it Pete mentioned that the GFC was wonderful, but the resort is an anomaly because of how good the GFC was and how bad the rest of the resort was. He didn't actually say it that way, he alluded to it and said we would have to wait for the review. I wonder what happened? I'm really curious, and wonder if it was really terrible or just something that wouldn't really bother me but happened to get under his skin? I'm hoping for the latter.

Congrats on the upgrade! Glad you had a great time and enjoyed the GF: :).

I’ve stayed in a 1 br. villa at the VGF twice and have never heard a peep from the neighbors. Love the 1 br.s, they are so spacious. We’ll be back & staying in a 1 br. for 11 nights in 8 months.

Hey guys! Has anyone eaten at Gasparillas? Just wondering how the food is. I have to make ADR’s for November in a couple weeks and I was thinking of maybe skipping a table service and going here for a lunch or early dinner one day. Food looks good, based on the videos I’ve watched. Thanks!
