Disney's POLYNESIAN VILLAGE RESORT Information & Questions

Hi there! This is a few months old, but may help:
Poly CL - NYE 2018

(Scroll through the room and resort stuff, you’ll eventually get to food)

Hope that helps!
SUPER helpful! I like the appetizer choices that you were served over NYE. However, they all seem bite-sized / canape-sized / cocktail-party sized as opposed to appetizer-sized. Is my impression from the pics correct? Is my impression that the AKL evening offerings are more substantial? I think I even saw soups in your AKL pictures.

We may still stick with Poly, but would need to make some additional dining plans for the evening.

DVC and Fall = reservations at 11 months so it seems like forever but 180 days finally arrived! I managed to get most reservations I wanted in most times. At least I have the 2 lake view rooms for us and my niece and her family!

Now the wait for 60 days and fast passes :hourglass

:offtopic:Mini Rant! Where are park hours, Disney. What happened to MK late hours on Wednesdays? Is Jiko going the way of Artist Pont with no reservations available after June 30th? :badpc:>:(

We added a night to our trip and decided to try something new and stay at the Poly! Growing up, my parents were (and still are) huge Beach Club fans, so aside from my 2 night stay at the GF last year for our wedding this will be my first time at a resort other than YC/BC!! We are celebrating our first wedding anniversary and our last Disney trip before our baby girl arrives in October :lovestruc I’ve always loved the vibe of the Poly and I can’t wait to stay there! Just 2 more days until we are checking in!

All the WDW room fridges are real fridges meant to keep perishables cold. You must have had a defective one at YC.

Yes I would have called to complain. That being said, on our stay last year at the GF, I was worried the fridge would not be cold enough for my toddler's milk so I bought a small one twice daily instead. I am super paranoid though, it really was very cold (whatever we had in there was kept cold).

So I read on the Tikiman FB webpage that there will be some room renovations done (I don't recall the timing though). Does anyone know if they're completely changing the decorations inside the room as well? I personally love the theming the way it is now but I know I'm in the minority and most probably feel it needs updating.

Really?? When I look at his page, I don't see any updates for years. Where did you see this?

I dont know how to copy and paste the actual post if your not on FB: "The last room renovation was 2013. It seems that test rooms are being built for the next room design." (And Tikiman posts some pics of a door change.)

So happy they re-introduced the summer savings! Just booked the Poly for 7 nights in mid July, can't wait.
We were really tempted to head to Beach or Yacht again as I love being walking distance to Epcot but two things tipped the scale for the Poly this time. Cap't Cooks and I know people will argue with me, but I really like the pool at the Poly better than Storm along bay. Yes, it's awesome but with three kids, it's almost too big - I can never keep track of the kids and also, does anyone else have this issue or am I just a wimp? haha, but the sand on the sidewalk (not actually in the pool) hurts my feet to walk on.

Transportation questions here for all the Poly experts... We have a MK EMM booked for one of the mornings of our trip. Should we take the monorail or boat (the GF, Poly, MK loop) the morning of? I have never been able to find a definitive Disney transportation schedule online. What time should we be at the monorail station or boat dock? I read somewhere that the boats and monorail start 30 minutes prior to opening. Does that told for EMM openings?

Also, we are driving in at 7:15am on check in day. Will they still let me park in the Poly resort parking that early? Any problems with parking availability? Thanks in advance. I know these questions have probably been asked before. I am not having any luck with the search window.

If I'm not mistaken, taking the monorail enables you to go through security at the Poly and skip the one at MK entrance? If that's the case, that would probably be a big time saver. I believe the boats drop you off outside of the security zone so you would have to go through security at MK and there might be a longer line.

Thank you. This is a great tip. I did not even take security into consideration.

Does anyone know which longhouses have the pool or marina view rooms? I ended up paying a little more for one of those in the hopes of being closer to the pool and or Great Ceremonial House.
A few years ago we were put on the third floor of Samoa, Lava pool side, and it was absolutely awesome! Another time after that, we were put in the garden side of Tuvalu which wasn't as appealing to me. Just curious if anyone has an idea what longhouse we might get with a pool or marina view?

What exactly was your view? I'm thinking about requesting this longhouse. Were you just looking at the end of Fiji? or did you at least have a garden area?

i've forgotten the exact room number but we were very near the South Western corner, I think 2nd or 3rd floor. Not staring directly at Fiji, though it was easily visible. Don't get me wrong, it was a very pleasant garden view, nothing wrong with it at all, actually kind of quite and relaxing. You could watch people heading to Lua cove for instance. But with the kids, we were pretty spoiled from staying in Samoa the trip before with an excellent view of the Lava pool. Samoa just had a more "lively" view if that makes sense?

Pool Marina view would be Samoa and Fiji (but maybe Rarotonga, that's still being debated to my knowledge).

I’ve done EMM from Poly several times.

Since they let you in the MK gates at 7:45am’ish, I try to time it so I’m at the MK, checked-in/waiting by 7:30’ish.

My first choice of transportation is Monorail. The Resort line ‘usually’ starts running at 7am. Check the Times Guide when there just to be sure, here’s a helpful link as well: http://www.orlandoparksnews.com/p/weekly-walt-disney-world-times-guides.html

So we’ll usually leave our room 7am’ish to make our way to the Grand Ceremonial House/monorail station. You’ll go through security prior to getting to the monorail station platform. Some may prefer to build in more fudge time there, I’ve generally been ok hoping everything goes well. :-) If at all worried or your travel party moves slowly ,time it so you’re at the platform at 7’am’ish.

I don’t trust the resort boat that early. I’ve stayed at Poly more times than I should admit and I couldn’t give you a definitive answer as to what time it starts running. It may be running early enough for EMM but it may not, so I like the other options.

With the monorail, it’s not a bad idea to have a Plan B (or C or D) involved “just in case.” When the monorail isn’t running, there is “supposed” to be a bus to MK - but that can be a stressful proposition when you have an expensive event that you need to get to on the line.

So, my Plan B is to get a cab to CR then walk over (sounds crazy but I had to do this once).

My Plan C is the Resort boat if I see one running.

My Plan D is walking to the TTC and taking the MK Ferry.

95% chance you’ll be fine with the monorail, I only mention the others just to have options in your pocket if stuff happens.

As to parking at Poly on your check-in day, you’re all good - nothing to worry about.

Hope that helps, and happy to answer any questions/clarify anything.

Haven’t heard anything about Jiko, but did read that evening EMH at MK are going away in favor of AM EMH (daily, I think?)
