Epcot Spine and Entrance Project

I believe the entrance may be done sooner than that.
Could be, I didn’t see a starting time frame though. If they start the same time as with Spaceship Earth, that would give them around 18-20 months.

So, in May 2020 Future World will be a giant construction wall? :rotfl:

Oh well, at least we enter from International Gateway and will still have World Showcase.

Epcot will have probably 4-5 years worth of work before the majority is done.

Too bad they couldn't include at least one ride. The old body wars could have been replaced with a new dark ride or they could do an updated version of cranium command, perhaps using characters from Inside Out.

I am just happy they are using the space for something full time. They very well could have not done anything. There were also plans that they were going to demolish the building altogether.

Martin said walls could go up this year. Obviously done in phases. I think the entrance will be one of the first pieces done and won't take as long as some other aspects.

I am so excited about these changes, about time Epcot received some love from Disney!:woohoo:

I am really hyped about the new fountain as it resembles the original with a similar sculpture in the center. Too bad Disney auctioned off several pieces of the original sculpture. .....and the entrance plaza has flags with the original Epcot Center logo. Fantastic!

Here's hoping the greening of the entrance carries through past Spaceship Earth, and that we get a little more of a "Main Street" in Future World.

Even just something with trees and places to sit with a drink would be nice.

Didn't the Innovations bldgs used to have interactive stuff? That all kind of faded away. I hope this will not do that

Yes, although this seems even more geared toward kids. Innoventions West looks like it'll be straight up demolished in this redo, though.

Any nice pictures of the original entrance handy? My quick google search failed me :o

The flags, the added green space, the multiple “lanes” of entry all plusses to me.

However, The “ unknown” new wall location, the interactive Kiddie area, the lack of an xtra QS eatery, loss of Club Kool, lack of Any type of ride all Far outweigh any gain to me... so far.
Looking forward to the progress and changes along the way.
The Legacy tiles...feels like an afterthought now... that Truly Bothers me. People felt Invested, and I don’t mean monetarily ...
it’s part of the Epcot History. I hope it gets the Respect it deserves.
What’s next, ripping out all the Bricks at Magic Kingdom for “new” Granite tiles, ugh!

Am I missing something, or is the entire area that is surrounded by the monorail loop going to be empty space (just greener) but for SSE (minus Project Tomorrow) and Fountain of Nations?

Seems like a LOT of empty space - even if they do make it green (literally, not environmentally :jester:)

I said this on Twitter, and I'll say it again.

For those of you that did not get to experience the original entrance, I can't tell you how happy for all of you now. It was so welcoming, and relaxing with the BG music, the fountain, and all of the flowers. I can't wait!

I'm looking forward to the new entrance. I was a fan of the original layout and this looks like it will be in keeping with that scheme.

It won’t be completely empty. Yes there will be more greenery but also things in the space.

Yeah, I think it'd be a great place for a animatronic show type of attraction. I don't know that it needs a ride - maybe something small.
