Disney Skyliner (Gondola Transportation System) Read Post 1 Now Open!

I'm not sure I would rely on that implication that strongly. Disney has made many changes over the years that people found mystifying.
Boardwalk, Yacht, and Beach technically aren’t serviced by the Skyliner. You could walk to IG and take it from there but the station isn’t specifically for those resorts. The boats aren’t going anywhere for the foreseeable future.

Definitely agree.

With no FriendShips,to get to DHS without walking there, Crescent Lake Resorts Guests would have to walk to IG and ride the Skyliner all the way from IG to DRR to CBR and THEN to DHS.

Not happening.

(The FriendShips are also just part of the "atmosphere" of the Crescent Lake Resorts. If Disney didn't think that, they would have removed them and gone to buses by now.)

I definitely agree with you on this. My preferred room is either at YC or BC sitting on a balcony listening to the boats. That sound makes me feel like I’m at home in WDW

The other side of the boat route is DHS.

I like to speculate If DHS security was moved back to the bus stop, then they could have a secure zone from the bus stop to the park ...including the DHS gondola and Friendship boats. It would require screening at the 3 resorts, but would result in smaller security staffs at the 2 parks (for walkers) and those parks would seem more friendly like the MK entrance.

I just got this email regarding my stay at CBR in early July. Looks like Skyliner construction is going to on for awhile still:

February 2019

Dear ******* Party,

We are delighted you have chosen to stay with us at Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort!

Walt Disney once spoke of how his creations would never be complete as long as there is imagination left in the world. It is in this spirit that we have embarked on some refurbishment projects across the Resort, including the development of Disney Skyliner, which will give Guests a bird’s-eye view of Walt Disney World® Resort while traveling via gondolas. This brand-new gondola system will connect future Guests of Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort with Disney’s Hollywood Studios®, the International Gateway at Epcot® and other Disney Resort Hotels.

While we work our magic, the Resort will be in full operation with all amenities available to you, including our dining, merchandise and recreation locations. It is possible that you may see or hear construction, but noise should not be heard from your Guest room between dusk and 9:00am. We apologize for any inconvenience this work may cause and appreciate your patience and understanding. Please know we are making every effort to ensure your comfort and enjoyment.

If you have questions or need assistance prior to your arrival, please contact the Disney Reservation Center at 407-939-1822 between the hours of 7:00am-11:00pm (ET).

General Manager Brian Vucinich and the team at Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort will be happy to assist you.

Sincerely,

Disney Destinations, LLC

When I updated a reservation for September of this year they told me the same thing over the phone. I told them I hope it is done by then and they just laughed. I think it is just a blanket statement they have to say even if construction won't be happening at that time.

Strictly speaking, the gondola has no air conditioning. But that doesn't mean they can't air condition it beyond just "natural venting". I can think of 3 inexpensive ways:

1.The gondola opens its door and people walk in and sit down. Then the door will stay open a little further and reach the spot where a big tube points at near the top of the door and shoot out a blast of cold air (say, 55 degrees) that instantly replaces most of the air inside the gondola. The people inside screams and shudders from the sudden cold. The door immediately closes, keeping the cold air in, and the gondola is on its way. If the gondola is going from Pop to Epcot and bypassing CBR, the door will open at CBR station and another blast of cold air will take place.

2. The gondola can have water sprayed on it outside at intervals to keep it wet. The gondola is moving, so the rapid evaporation may remove a noticeable amount of heat.

3. The gondola can have a small compartment on top that fits a tray with a handle. The tray can hold a block of ice about 2 feet by 2 feet by half foot (about 4 gallons). When the gondola crosses a station, before it loads people, a robot arm can put out the old tray with half melted ice inside to be put back in the freezer, then shove in a new one. The gondola ceiling can be designed with vents to let the cold out while at the same time direct any condensed moisture outside.

The cooling methods only need to take place if the gondola temperature is over, say, 80 degrees.

And none of those methods are being used here.

Evaporative cooling only works in low humidity areas. I don't think Orlando area fits that description
Swamp coolers and humidity are an astoundingly bad idea. It is 100% a mold growing machine. The automakers tried swamp coolers for a time in the 50s and 60s. It was a disaster. They get some use in the Southwest these days, but you are 100% correct. Swamp Coolers and Florida? Bad idea.

And none of those methods are being used here.

do we know if there is any A/C at the stations? Just wondering if that would help too - a) for people waiting and b) just a little heat / cool exchange when during loading and unloading
