**September 2019**

So, kids were home again today. 5 snow days in a row!! Great scott!!

Things are looking up, though, it is currently 17 degrees and sunny, realfeel 17. Much better than yesterday's high of 5 degrees, realfeel -12.

Whelp, we had planned on driving, thinking it would save us money LOL.

With the new SW rates that just came out, plus a bunch of SW points I had saved up from business travel, I was able to book one-way flights (orlando to Boston) for $108 TOTAL (3 tickets using points + the 9/11 fee, one ticket cash). I wasn't crazy about the times of the SW flights out of Boston and there is a Delta fare at a better time to fly down and slightly cheaper - that will cost me about $354 for 4 one way tickets.

I had a bunch of Hilton points saved up from work travel too, so I booked the Hilton Garden near the airport for the day before check-in at AS Mu and the day after checkout. This allowed us to choose less expensive flights, and I paid NOTHING for them.

All told, flying AND being in FL two extra days will now cost us $462 and will be about 10 hours of our time. Driving and paying for resort parking was going to run us $400-425. Plus 40 hours of our time.
Man, you had to do it! Time is money, I always say.....and the stress of driving is well worth the money!

Wow! We had -3 degree temps yesterday and are expecting almost 60 degrees tomorrow. Gotta love the midwest! May can't come here fast enough for me (we have May and Sept and Dec trips planned this year).

I just got round trip SW 2 people out of Buffalo for 439 which is already great but remember SW allows 2 checked bags to that's another savings

I was able to get rountrip from Buffalo Sept 15-21 for $211 and with my $16 credit I paid $195 US. I’m from Canada so in CDN it is $263. For me to fly from Toronto it would’ve cost approx $550 not including the cost of bags. Buffalo is only and extra 20 min drive for us as well. I love flying SW and use them all the time. Only thing I hate is it’s $25 to purchase early bird.

We rarely purchase Early Bird. We set an alarm and check in exactly 24 hours from the flight. We're almost always low in the B group, which leaves plenty of seats together for the 4 of us to manage sitting 2 and 2. In the instance we feel the need to purchase Early Bird, we will typically only purchase for 2 of us, and leave the other 2 without. They are usually able to sit where there's a seat left beside them by the time the rest of us board. It's a bit of a gamble, but saves some $.

If you get the SW Visa and use it for your spending, you'll get automatic A-list. My DH never has to buy Early Bird anymore, but always has A seating. The rest of us don't (even when flying with him), but it's really not that big of a deal most of the time. So, for our upcoming trip, we may purchase Early Bird for one of our kids & send that kid on with him, then the other kid will go with me.

Yikes, how much snow did you guys get? That is a lot of snow days :crazy2:

Our forecast shows 55 Wednesday and partly cloudy - I am going to spend the entire day outside lol

I have been following along since MamaJessie started this thread. Today we purchased airfare so I am along for the ride. Our trips to WDW have always been in April, so September is new for us. It will be myself and DH. On 9/14 - 9/15 we will be at the POP then move to CSR from 9/15 - 9/25.

I looked at accuweather to see what our snowfall was. Over the last 10 days it was 24 inches! Yuck!

Oh I know it’s not necessary and for our trip down I never purchase it. I do however like purchasing it for our trip home that way I don’t have to worry about checking in while in the parks. We’ve driven the last couple trips so I haven’t bought early bird in awhile, it used to be only $15 from Buffalo and is now $25. I know it goes up in price but that’s a large jump.

What a nice long WDW vacation!

We usually purchase Early Bird when we are traveling with a tight connection and this usually means we are only carrying on our luggage. We rarely carry on when we go to disney since DME is so convenient. If we were flying in late without the benefit of the yellow tags for DME then we probably would do EB.....I don't like being in group C or sometimes even late B and trying to find space for our carry ons in the overhead bins. I'll never understand why people put their luggage in the first bins when they are sitting towards the back of the plane. We put our bags right where our seats are. Isn't that common courtesy?

I am from Canada too! wish I had gotten as good a price as you! but year toronto and hamilton airports when you factor in bags is more expensive

Yes, checking in while you're in the parks can be problematic. I ran into that on our last trip when wifi was a bit dodgy in the parks & my connection was SLOW. If you purchase ahead of time, it's better than purchasing at the gate... I think it's $40 at the gate!

I don't understand why people don't put their luggage near where they're sitting. It makes sense to me to find your seat & stow your luggage overhead. DH travels a lot for work and runs into this issue when he has to board late, so that's why he loves having automatic A-list due to our SWA card. Really, it's not any different when you travel other airlines... people stick their luggage where they're not sitting no matter who they're flying. And don't get me started on people who turn their suitcases sideways, bring more than their 2 allotted items, or slip through with oversize items.

Can you remove me from the list going. I'm postponing my trip until September 2020 when I will have more money to go for longer and maybe try a moderate :)

That’s what I always assumed, carry on goes above where you are sitting. Kind of rude to take up the front and go to the back to sit.

I’m in Hamilton and I learned years ago, no matter how crappy the dollar is it will always be cheaper to fly out of Buffalo. It’s only what 30 min longer drive then to Pearson.

So I hesitated booking airfare and it jumped up a little. So instead of flying out of the town my sister lives in, we are flying out of Nashville. They are both about 2 hours away from us, so it didn't really matter distant wise. But now we are saving $60.00 and will just drive there super early Saturday morning (flight leaves at 6:15 am). I did purchase earlybird check in for the flight home. Our flight leaves at 4:35 So I wasn't sure what we would be doing 24 hours earlier while at the parks and didn't wanna risk forgetting to check in. MY TA has our flight info and has already got us set up for Magical Express. 222Days to go!
