@Haley R , it seems we couldn’t get any good Priceline deals for our trip because of some pro bowl at WWoS. Just saw it on my FB feed.

I did have beach club standard pop up last night for $298 (incl $35 extra adult fee) and I was going to switch but our arrival night wasn’t available so we’d have to do the airport Hyatt that night. I decided to stick with cbr instead since the total cost was still about $200 less and we can go straight to wdw and get settled in our room.
Now it is past my cancellation window, so I can stop obsessively checking for a better deal.:rotfl:

Oh, and another thing, it's benevolent dictator... I really don't know what will happen if we screw that up :p

(j/k, j/k )

See this is why I don’t comment. I make such horrible mistakes. Now I’m definitely getting a beating.

Thank you all for the advice. I’ve been planning the cip referral (yes my ink is a cip, mistake number 2! Unacceptable) so now seems like a good time to do it!

Does the CIP earn extra UR when buying egc on the MileagePlus X app?

Yes, for "travel" category gift cards like Uber and AirBnB, your purchase should "pass through" to the underlying merchant's category code (so for Uber and AirBnB, travel) and trigger the CIP's 3x UR for travel.

It's supposed to work similarly for other major bonus categories on Chase Visas, like "dining" on the CSR/CSP/CIC and "office supply stores" on the CIC.

I think with P2's last cards in November, you should be fine in terms of timing. Even though P2 got 2 cards in November, a CIP would only put P2 at 3 cards in a 3 month period. My concern would be how P2's overall credit lines with Chase are looking. Is P2's total credit lines on Chase personal and biz cards <50% of total household income? If so, P2 is in good shape, otherwise Chase may decide its already extended P2 sufficient credit and deny the app.

It's a good idea to keep your Chase credit lines in check by requesting Chase lower the credit limit on cards you may not be using to amounts you're comfortable with, and below 50% at least a billing cycle prior to applying for a new card. It takes about that time to report the lower credit limits to the credit reporting agencies and have that information reflect on your credit reports for Chase's automatic approval system to see.

Once again, good luck!

I was hesitant to give her advice since P2 had opened 2 Chase cards in September and 2 in November...didn’t know if 5 cards in 5 months was okay or not.....very good point on lowering credit limits if needed

P2's work just threw a wretch into my plans. Apparently he needs to get a AMEX through their corporate link, but under his SSN for all business expenses. So now this will take one of his slots. He needs to do this within the next couple weeks. He is at 3/24 (Citi AA, SW, SW biz). He asked what I want him to apply for quickly as to not screw everything up (at least he is smart). I am thinking CSP or CSR.

After a total of 12 calls to Chase for my CIP app... I AM APPROVED! @DrFacilier check the status line again!!

Thank you everyone who provided advice and encouraged me to go for it today :grouphug:

Congratulations!

If you’re ready to start spending on the CIP, just give Chase a call at 1-800-945-2028 (the CIP’s customer service number) to ask they expedite your new card.

If it's a Corporate card it won't report to his CR and you'll be fine. They need the SSN to put through the app but it doesn't effect your credit nor will it count against your 5 credit card limit (although usually Corporate cards are Charge cards so it wouldn't anyway). If he already has an AmEx card personally they shouldn't even do a hard pull or anything, it's just a formality. Even if he's a managing partner or something and it's really a Small Biz card vs a corporate card, it still won't report to his CR and he'll keep his 5/24 count. (which actually looks like 2/24 since SW Biz doesn't count, if that's all his cards)

I was reading his post last night. He warned about activation/fraud issues with the cards. They also seem to have horrible reviews from Staples.
its mainly waiting for the activation letter. if it doesnt show up, i recall another article saying u have to wait for it to be able to activate it now, u used to be able to get around that by calling their activation department.

Hello hello. I’ve been keeping tabs on this thread since summer. I’m generally a creepy lurker listening in on your conversation. Popping in with a question. I have to send a friend 2k through Venmo for a vacation. I know there’s a fee attached to using a credit card rather than checking account - is there a card where reward beats the fee? I tried googling “best credit card for Venmo” but the results were staggeringly unhelpful.

Both me and P2 are below 5/24 but if eating a slot for a good return is smart, so be it. And because I’m sure I’ll get asked my status. Here it is.

Me 2/24
04/17 target
06/18 Amex blue cash
07/18 ink
10/18 ink cash
12/18 Amex delta biz

P2 4/24
06/18 Amex blue cash
09/18 csr & csp
11/18 sw personal
11/18 sw business

I really tried to follow the formatting rules. Don’t beat me benevolent leader

The other option other than whats has being mentioned is maybe using your Amex Blue Cash, get some $500 MCGC and then Venmo that to your friend. it would take up your CC slots at Venmo(u can only add a few under a certain month but that should save u some fees.

See this is why I don’t comment. I make such horrible mistakes. Now I’m definitely getting a beating.

we dont beat ppl up in here... we just shun... ;) ;)

Agree with your choices...both have the same 50k UR bonus and $4,000 spend....CSP...$95 annual fee waived the first year CSR $450 isn’t .....do you have a CSP if so you could refer him for one...that’s another 10k URs would you get

Oh that could be good news. I am not sure what it actually is since I haven't seen the info on it yet. He does have an AMEX (way old), so maybe we are ok. I also forgot the SW Biz won't count.

Yeah, P2 is the more risky player in that scenario with getting caught up in the demise of the double dip. (and a brutal demise that was, still shocked and sickened for you @Sarah_B ) but Chase didn't seem to hold a grudge approving both SW cards in Nov so it's kinda tricky and down totally to how comfortable P2 (and P1) is with it. Full well knowing I'm not an expert in shutdown risk, but it's not looking like shutdown territory so worst that can happen is probably a denial? Probably.

So with those scenarios, what seems riskier, going for CIP #2 or P2 going for a CIP? (both referred from the CIP #1, of course :) ) IDK but they say fortune favors the bold

Yea I wasn’t thinking about a shutdown...lol..just approval....like you said the worst that would probably happen is a denial....

Not to dissuade you from picking up another card, but just didn't want you to feel like you had to rush. Getting an AmEx card for work won't throw off your plans :)

Have any of you applied for the US Bank Business Edge Cash rewards card....looks like you get $200 cash bank on a $1,000 spend...and can get the same for an employee if you add then when you apply.
Wondering how hard/easy this card is to get...and if it shows up your personal credit.....article says no...but confirmation is always good to hear from thoses who have applied
