Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge News - Updated 2/28/19

I will be interested to see how they do souvenirs and clothes for Galaxy’s serge while trying to maintain the immersiveness of an outer rim location .... where they would want to keep sort of a low profile and not sell a bunch of things advertising themselves

Obviously Disney will want to capitalize on it by wonder if it will be more subtle things and clothes that look more like costumes or outfits that the locals would wear than traditional Disney stuff
We can probably safely assume the merchandise will be handled the exact same for Galaxy’s Edge as for the Valley of Mo’ara.

Gosh, I have to think $500 for a hard ticket event would be my max. Anything over that and I don't think I could justify it. Of course, I'll probably have to back-pedal in a few months.

New question: Do you think hard ticket events will be priced the same at DL and DHS? I'd think they will either be the same or slightly more expensive at DL than DHS.
A $ 500.00 ticket for one night for a family of five would be insane! Lots of families simply couldn't afford or justify that price for one night.

I thought of that, but I see it differently as for Pandora they were inviting people to visit the land so it made sense to have more traditional souvenirs and themed plastic bags, etc. For a "smugglers town" it shouldn't be anything that showy and everything should be put in just plain brown paper bags and stuff

They already charged $299 for a preview to see Pixar Pier at DCA. Not even a new land. Not even a new ride.
It is a HUGE leap from $250/300 to $500 per person. I cannot imagine paying that for 4 people. May as well just do a VIP tour. We'll see. Hopefully it opens earky ti mid November and my CL status gets me all the Fast Passes!!

Which is true of many of their add-ons. I'm not convinced it would be quite that high, but it being higher than that Pixar Pier ticket (299) seems right to me.

VIP tour has a minimum of 7 hrs at $425-625/hr... plus tip... at least $1000 more overall for 4 -- VIP tour would be more economical for larger groups and you can go up to 10 people. But you won't get whatever nifty SW souvenir they will give with a specialized tour, I would think... like the AK VIP tour at night (forget the name)... :D

I couldn't afford that either! But I'm planning that dh and I will take a trip by ourselves first. I can't imagine subjecting my kids to that insanity.

Lol....now this is what im talkin about. Think i will also leave my kids at home next time i go to Disney. You know, for their safety...lol

I don't think $500 per person for a Star Wars opening event is unreasonable for Disney at this point. I wouldn't be shocked if it was more. I don't think it's really a lose situation at that point. Charge whatever you want, it's not like Disney is really putting a lot of money into throwing a preview party. If it doesn't sell out, whatever. They still got a ton of money from those who paid.

I think the prices for the hotel will also be astronomical.

For people tempted to freak out about the $500 suggestion, remember we're only suggesting a possible ticket price for a special event. I don't think anyone would expect a price hike like that for regular park tickets (ahem, hopefully we're a few years away from prices like that anyway). So a family of five should still be able to attempt to get into GE for normal prices, but they'll have to contend with the masses in that case.

plus, my thinking with paying that would be for an off hours timeframe where the crowds are low and you get to really experience the crowds. To me that increases the value a lot ... if they sell $500 tickets that get you on both rides but it's still shoulder to shoulder in the land it wouldn't be something I would want to buy

I would never ever in a million years pay even 250 per ticket for a preview for my family of 4. I mean where I am in my life at this point there is a million other things we could do with that money. I mean if money was no object, ya, but I’ll just deal with people. Try for my fast passes and call it a day. I envy u guys who could swing it. I am really really excited about all this though.

I think it is all about what aspect of the land do you value and what other trade offs can you can make. For me, experiencing the Land itself is important so super intense crowds will be such a detracting element to me ... and I normally would never spend that kind of money but for this I would save money elsewhere - stay offsite, shorten my trip, drive instead of fly, etc. heck, if the event didn’t require separate admission ticket I might literally just do this and not go to any other parks

The decision to offer it would depend on whether there were enough families that could afford it and would pay it. The decision would not factor in how many couldn't afford it or wouldn't pay it.

I thought I read they were going to have a store where you could buy your own droid? Kind of like the banshees at Pandora?
