I love credit cards so much!

Ok all this talk about the SW CP has me slightly confused, I want the points in January if possible. With my personal card that I just opened the first payment due date is 1/18 and the SW bus payment is due 12/23 (so a close date of 12/26). When should I be completing these spends? Thanks!

I'm not an AA expert but I believe to trigger the credit they need to be no greater than $100 denominations and IIRC, you can use up to 8 gc for booking flights, so they should work out well for you.

I've used my Saks credits for supergoop! sunscreen (I swear by this) and ahem...unmentionables. Nothing fancy but everyday use items. Since I probably go through 10 bottles of supergoop! a year, this helps me out. Must love Florida sunshine 8-)

We bought $300 in $100 increments in November, AAirlines and it worked (multiple cards here). Oddly enough, you can use the GCs for flights, but not for the extra things that the credit is initially good for (like upgrading seats and stuff like that). I was able to purchase AA seats with the GCs, but then had to pay with a CC for the premium upcharge on the seats, which meant a phone call to AA since it wouldn't work online. So kind of a pain, and no you can't use it for just anything, but it worked out for me since I had more AA tickets to purchase anyway.

As for the Saks money, I used it to buy skincare products I use every day. It's stuff I was going to buy anyway, so that's one way to use it up.

I did an in-store gift card purchase. Credited in 4 days. Easy peasy.

Thanks for the comments!

I actually realized that the Hunter boots that I bought on Monday from Hunter .com are sold at Saks...sooooooo $50 back in the pocket (and DH's Christmas present to me done...though I did all the work...and bought three pairs trying to figure out what I want...at least he will wrap them up (hopefully))!

I think I will set my airline for 2018 as AA and then buy 2-$100 GCs. I think I read somewhere that I should set the airline, wait a few days, buy $100 GC, wait a few days, and buy the next $100 GC. Does it credit mid-statement or once the statement closes - because by the time I get this done, it will close January 2019?

Oh, we had better luck with the BBP card delivery. Applied 11/26, they shipped it 12/1, arrived today 12/4. Worked out perfectly, we just needed before Thursday.

On the flip side, we added me as an employee on 11/27 as many reports show that card arriving before the primary but I'm still being reviewed :confused3

My wife has a policy that internet friends are internet friends and real life friends are real life friends and the two don’t mix lol. :P

I hope we have great weather that week though!!

EDIT: please don’t take that the wrong way (anybody) lol. I know you’re all awesome people. :)

My DH has the same policy haha. I guess it should really be my policy too, given my line of work lol.

I've probably met about 50-60 people through Disney internet boards, starting with the old AOL boards back in the 90ties. Mostly females but a few males. Many of us became long time friends and I keep up with some of them. Some of our kids have become friends as they've grown up going to Disney!

Disney was the shared interest and it led to lots of meet ups, mostly over the food and wine festival. Personally I've only joined up in group situations, not one on one. I've had a lot of fun, and have enjoyed group dinners at many of the Disney restaurants. Once about 30 of us met for dinner at Boma. I used Simba's Cub house for my daughter that night and I'm not sure who had more fun, myself or my daughter as she absolutely loved it.

Of course, with any internet meet up, its important to be extremely careful, but for the most part, many of us are fairly normal.

Thank you @DisneyMandC for posting about the AT&T Nordstrom deal. Just bought a cute wrap for my DD (or maybe me) for free! It had over 4000 great reviews so figure I can’t go wrong. Looks very versatile. Great for planes where I like to wrap up and stay warm. I was thinking it would be something she could take on her trip with her and be versatile enough for several different scenarios. Even have $1 credit left.

Please remind me to unmute TPG tomorrow so I can roll my eyes and ignore most of his tweets. I can't handle all of the tweets from their lame awards thing tonight. Who even cares, they don't mean anything.

DH ;) applied for the SPG business card on 11/28...instant approval..received the card today...thought I requested an employee card for me..off to see if I’m being reviewed

Edit to add...I can see my card listed...guess it will arrive soon...and just noticed they list him as a member since 1982...he opened an Amex card when he graduated college...probably cancelled it 1985

Left yesterday afternoon for our Vegas Global Entry Getaway. Stopped at Safeway on the way to the airport . DH couldn't understand why I was getting so upset that my phone would not sign into the Wi-Fi. Finally got it squared away and purchased 2 $50 Visa GC and 2 $100 GC with my BCP for 6% cashback. Ahead $18+. DH asked who was getting those for Christmas and I said ME! "Wow, you're so smart!" was his reply after explaining to him my reasoning. (Thanks DIS Churners for making me look more awesome in my husbands eyes.)

On to the airport, where his CSR PP gave us for free a couple drinks, ceasar salad, grilled salmon, and mushroom risotto for dinner, and cookies and water for the airplane ride. Took a LYFT with 25% off to our hotel. Got checked in and went up to our basic cheap room booked with 4k UR/night with a free $18 breakfast daily. Key card would not work. Verified the room # and fiddled some more to no avail. Finally the door opened and an older gentleman poked his head out and told us we must have the wrong room. :scared1:

Back to the front desk for apologies and an upgrade to a corner suite on the 14th floor. (Where i am currently typing this from our Jacuzzi tub!)

Today we had our GE interviews, which took a whole 10 minutes for both of us and I still have two more days to continue to show my husband this is an INCREDIBLY worthwhile hobby! Thanks fellow Dis`ers! :disrocks:

Hoping the Hilton biz gets to me before next Friday. Leaving for DW that day! No big deal if not though. Need to finish the plat MSR first. Only about $1300 to go on that though. If DH springs for a snowblower and security camera(s) soon that’ll take care of that.

So um... since @disneymagicgirl has had several photos of herself (including the current one with her DCP-bound DD19) in her avatar, what will you do if you recognize her or her DD around the parks?

For the personal- your Statement close date is 1/21- so anytime between and say 1/16 or so
For the biz- your Dec statement will close on 12/26 so anytime beginning on 12/27 through 1/20 or so

That will give you time to ensure that everything posts timely.

Oh, forgot to add that I had decided to wait to apply for the SW CP till after the New Year, due to the DD Debacle in August, but a SERIOUS case of FOMO overtook me on the plane, and when the pop up showed up for the 50k bonus I jumped on it and got instant approval! Now to clean up my CL's for the biz app in Jan/Feb. party:

Ok so I am about 5 days behind on this thread but while I'm catching up I'm in need some new card advice.

P2 is 3/24 opened a CIP around 7/26 and CSR around 10/16. Is she good to go for the CIC or should we wait? Also, I'm seeing a lot less (positive) talk here about UR's these days. Should we start diversifying our point currency?

ETA: All we have right now are chase cards.
