Direct Closing Costs

No, direct and way less in July than now. For direct CC/fees.

Mine was about $2.60pp and your, 40 pointer, was about $7.90pp
Ok - now I’m with you.
If I had bought direct in July, I could have avoided the doc fee?? Without that $195, my CC would have been $3.03/PP.
Did you get a DVC backpack in July?
Probably a $40 backpack, so that’s a $1/PP savings, eh?:rotfl2:

Ha...no. I got that cheapie black tote. Your CC may have been lower in July too. I added 4 direct contracts over past few years and CC have been slowly creeping up (or not so slowly, actually). Used to be zero for CC direct, once upon a time.

Tomorrow I may dig out all my closing papers to see what we paid in CC each.

Just like everything else at Disney, it appears direct closing costs have gone up. We are in the middle of adding on direct and are being charged a $195 Document Prep fee. Previously this fee was $100 and it would be waived if you were an existing member. I spoke with Member Administration and they said as of October 1st this fee is now being charged to all buyers and will no longer be waived for those adding on. Anyone have luck getting this fee waived since October 1st?

Wow, almost doubling for doc prep fees? Prices keep going up.

I was charged ZERO doc fees 1 year ago for a small contract as a brand new buyer.

Wow. $195?

This is a game changer for me. It's been easy to justify purchasing small contracts direct because of closings cost savings and a smaller gap between direct vs resale pricing on contracts 75 points or less plus things like credit card usage, sometimes coming out ahead on dues payments and getting a loaded contract....

I want 2 more small contracts. I just haven't needed them yet. So, this is a bummer.

Okay...so we bought direct 4 times...

55 BWV in March 2014 and paid $128.90 in CC, no process fee
25 BWV in May 2014 and paid $101.60 in CC, no process fee
25 BWV in Sept 2016 and paid $106.50 in CC, no process fee
70 CCV in July 2018 and paid $181.70 in CC, no process fee

so CC not going up too badly but adding that $195 fee is a big jump.

Yes. I think the fee was $100 but was waived if you were a DVC member already. They now doubled it and charge everyone. They have now made DVC less competitive on small contracts. 25-50 points. The fee ads about $8.00 per point on 25 and about $4.00 for 50 points.

I didn't know there was a fee at all. I was not charged one and I was not already a DVC member. It was never even mentioned.

I felt like I'd missed all the good deals when I finally joined last year. As it turns out, I have full benefits with 60 points, paid less than $150 to close (no fee), got the PAP deal (for $550ish? x 4 people which is about what a regular park hopper would cost for my upcoming trip so a huge bargain). I paid $165 / pt which is still close to current direct pricing and higher than resale but I'm betting that changes real soon and my $165 will seem like "nothing". I also booked a MK MM event in January for February 6 and it was awesome to walk on every ride.

So, I guess I should be thankful.
