AP and FP+ for different trips

In June, I am heading to WDW twice - once off property with friends and once on property with family a couple weeks later. I am considering purchasing an AP for myself as it seems to be cheaper when you factor in the parking fees when we stay off property.

If I purchase myself an AP and everyone else between the two trips is regular park tickets, how does the FP+ windows work? (I know when you stay off its 30 days and when on 60 days out. I thought I read somewhere that AP holders only can make FP+ 7 days out?) I am the MDX person who would be getting all the FP+.

Maybe I just misunderstand how APs work. It's new to me as I had never considered it before since I don't live anywhere near WDW! Sorry if I sound naive about them.

APs can book a total of 7 days of FPs within a 30 day period.

For the people in Trip#1, the open FP window for Trip#2 includes the booking for Trip#1.

You as the AP holder can book for all Trip#1 people when your 60-day window opens for Trip#2.

Unfortunately, once you hit your max of 7 days of pre-booked FPs, everyone else in Trip#2 will have their choice of FPs thanks to regular tickets and you won’t have any FPs.

You can always buy a multi-day ticket to book FPs for Trip#2 and then reassign it a couple of days prior to Trip#2 and your AP keeps those FPs intact. Your regular ticket will be safe with a fake person until you need to use it for a future trip.

ok so that would totally stress me out. my family trip (trip #2) everyone having their FP except me?! yeah i don't like that lol. makes me think i'd be better off paying for the two different sets of tickets for myself instead of an AP. i guess i do understand why it's set up that way with AP holders. once my trip #1 is over and i would have freed up more FP for me as an AP holder, is there a way to get the same FP as my family? (i'm assuming not as i am fairly familiar with how the FP+ system works.)

As you use a day of FPs during Trip#1, look for FPs for yourself for Trip#2. You may have luck finding overlapping FP windows.
