New ticket system coming to WDW - Begins October 16th

I believe the UT etickets need to be activated by 12/2019 and
The hard tickets need to be activated by 2/2019.
Is there any alternative for people planning on going in 2020 or will they have to hope bridging continues with the 2019 tickets?
Thought @Robo or @hiroMYhero might have some thoughts on this.
Thank you!

i know we have to wait and see prices .but 2 question

1. if it is like airline with there prices you can book a flight and (if The price goes down ) you get a credit for the price different. will you get mickey dollars to spend at parks or how will they work that .no returns, price will never go down just up?

2.what to stop me from picking the cheapest day of the year and then add the flexible option to go at Xmas or Easter time
1. Highly doubt it. If they keep with the current process, prices are announced for the whole year and then don't change
2. I asked the same question....doesn't make sense that it would be allowed, but how would they stop it?
Seems we have more questions than answers at this point.

Dynamic "flexible" pricing would do it. But yeah, until we have access to the system, we won't know for sure.

It's possible they are counting on most people picking their actual dates -- and not thinking too hard to minimize their cost.

Can they change the rules to AP's once they're purchased? If you buy a Platinum AP that says no blackout dates when you purchase it, can this change after the fact?
not after you buy them but SWGE is opening at the end of next year so I'm sure we will see changes being announced in the next month or so.
As of now the ap calendar goes only into sept 2019

Except vouchers... I have a bunch of AP vouchers (which don't expire).

Given what they did in DL, I think they can (and will) change blockout dates without concern for those that bought their APs. Or perhaps create a new class of AP (Rhodium? haha) that is required to have no blockout dates for SW:GE.

DL did that recently. Changed the number of blackout dates.[/Q

Can anyone view an AP calendar or just current AP's? I want to buy 4 platinum AP's for my family (with no blackout dates) and do 2 trips May 2019 and May 2020. I would hate for us to spend all this money and then we have blockout dates for our dates we book.

Our trip is beginning on Labour day next year, the same as this year, and we did the Halloween party on that day. How are we supposed to plan for the specific day our trip needs to begin when we aren’t given dates to special events far enough in advance to book adr’s and buy tickets? I need 7 day hoppers and would ideally have them start on the Tuesday, but what if they don’t have a party on Labour day again? How will that work? I’m guessing the day after labour day will be a much lower cost than the holiday.

I'm most frustrated being told a change will come but having to wait 3 weeks to find out exactly what it is. I'm tempted to buy tickets for mid July at the old pricing but not quite ready to shell out $1600+. If I were to buy 2 passes now and the other 2 at the new tiered pricing, I should still be able to link them all in MDE, right?

Anyone can: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/passes/blockout-dates/

Dates are only posted thru August 2019, so they can block out all of December 2019 (if they wanted to) and they technically never promised December 2019 would be available to Platinum APs.

Given the changes made to DL APs, I would not put it past them.

OK help me out here, we are going April 1-5th. In my mind ticket prices will go up for those dates because of spring break... then I started to think, maybe they will do down as they are weekdays not a weekend. Then I looked at the ticket pricing as of right now and we are going on *regular priced days so maybe they will stay the same... should I just buy my tickets now?

It says no blockout dates. I'm just confused. Hiro, I can stop posting if this is off topic... LMK

An expired ticket will always retain its value. What is unknown is if this restructuring only allows the amount that you actually paid for the ticket or its full, undiscounted value at the time it was purchased to be used towards the upgrade.

More will be known after this goes into full effect; the Ticket Sticky will be updated by @Robo and I’m sure @ravenclawtrekkie will be here to assist. :-)

I know it'll most likely never happen but this could be a way to stop park closures due to capacity. What happens if you buy a ticket for Christmas Day and you aren't allowed in but with this new software Disney knows they've oversold that day. With the limited amount of days you can use the tickets it could really screw you over. If Disney has X amount of tickets sold for Christmas Day you stop selling them for that day.

Or the price dynamically gets more and more expensive as they sell tickets... and eventually no one wants to pay the cost for Christmas Day.

My whole concern is that I always buy tickets and "dream" of going - often changing my plans Many, Many, Many times - is the only option to pay a surcharge for "flexible" pricing?

If I buy tickets with a date (that I commit to going) - what happens when those dates don't work out - how "hard" will it be to change them, and will it have to be in person, what's the change fee, etc. I guess I just really hate thinking I know the rules only to have them change and then take tons of time to fix during a vacation...HATE spending time in Guest Relations lines during my vacation!!!!

Cheese on rice this is too complicated for my sleep-addled brain. I just want to knoe6if I should buy our 5 day tickets for Feb now or after the change.
I would buy them now, especially if you want to use them over more that 8 days. You could always wait and go through Undercover Tourist or another 3rd party site because they normally have older tickets for a couple of days after price increases.
