I need a new card :p. I referred DH to the SPG Biz but got the "you don't qualify for this welcome offer". Not really sure why as he is 0/24; He does have a CIP and a CIC but I didn't think AMEX would care, right? Forgot also he has the Citi AA Biz and Barclays Aviator Biz. He also has the Hilton Biz which we just hit MSR on at the end of August. I thought he could have two apps on AMEX in 90 days and this would be the second one. Maybe it is the Hilton is too new. So moving on from that one.

Have you put any spend on DH's Hilton Biz since meeting MSR?

Since I can't do the DD on CSR/CSP, thinking of moving the CSR up. I was waiting until the end of the year to time with tuition and Real Estate taxes. That would have taken care of the 8K MSR easy. Now that I can only get one and have just a 4K MSR, it should be no problem. Reminder of my stats in case the spreadsheet hasn't been updated:
CIP 2/18
SPG Biz 3/18
IHG 3/18
CIC 5/18
Hilton Biz 5/18
Citi AA Biz 7/18
Barclay's Aviator Biz 8/18
so for Chase - 1/24; 0/30;0/3;2/6; 3/12. Seems safe for CSR, right?

Using the 3 months between Chase applications yes seems safe

I think you are great to go for the CSR! Do it soon before anything else changes....!

Well, looks like maybe I did squeak through under the radar! I called and they told me since I applied for both cards on the same day they were lowering my credit level on the CSP, but I could keep both cards. I asked if the bonus was still attached to both cards and she said they were!
wow Wow WOW! I hope things stay ok for you. You could pull a me and go buy a ton of VGCs and hit the MSR tomorrow LOL!

Yes! The time for your CSR draws near :) GOOD LUCK! I think that’s a good next move.

OMG. Fingers crossed for you!

I’m still a bit nervous about it and will be until I see those bonus points. But I’m thinking if they didn’t close it now, after looking at it and realizing I opened both sapphires on the same day, I don’t think they will. But who knows. I’ll have my fingers crossed too.

Crossing mine for you too! I'm so happy to read your update!

LOL. Does DH know he has an Amex Plat yet?

Good news for your DD! And good luck with the interview process!

Nope, he hasn't a clue. Probably never will unless I decide I like MRs over URs. I will just hit the MSR myself and add it to the pile of other cards he doesn't know about in the desk drawer. :joker:

Thanks for the good luck wishes!

Yes. I thought I had the MSR hit in July but had an unexpected refund on tuition so i just used it on my trip to Acadia and put about 500 over MSR on it. Maybe not enough. After MSR, they don't care about GCs, right? If so I can pick up some GCs at Giant Eagle to use.

thanks all. I do feel like moving sooner rather than later as I didn't fully benefit from CIP /plastiq 3x, pulled the trigger on the IHG card and will at least get one unlimited cert next year but then that is gone, SPG devalued, AMEX welcome bonus changes, no DD at Chase. While I don't want to be reckless, I also don't want to wait too long on some things.

That is some major pixiedust:!!!!

Seriously!?! I'll keep that in mind as I contemplate the AF ;)

I still haven't mentioned the card to my dh. I just cannot figure out how to bring up a card with a $550 AF. I could just not tell him, and he'd never know, but I'm not sure if that is right (not saying anyone who does that *cough* @disneymagicgirl is bad lol). We've just always been open about what we are spending if it's over $200. However, I'd get it all back in MRs...so I'm technically not really spending it...I'm 'investing' it, right? :D

I like to call it recycling money.:ssst:

A few months back, I posted a breakdown of which cards I use for pretty much every cent of our expenses. I’d say, 90% of our spend went on Chase cards. In the past month plus, almost all our spend has shifted to Amex.

This is because of multiple factors:
  • MMS's publicity-seeking stupidity caused Chase to kill 3x UR on Plastiq through CIP, on which I put a lot of spend for bills in categories that otherwise didn't earn a bonus or accept credit cards.
  • My CIC has become my new UR-earning machine with 5x UR on Gyft and all the VGC and MCGC deals at OD/OM/Staples that I don't dare put on my Amexes for which I'm still working on MSRs.
  • There were some great Amex Offers in the last two months to Best Buy, Staples, Bed, Bath & Beyond, many of which I spent on Disney and other third-party gift cards.
  • I still have the 10% credit at Lowe's Amex Offer for more third-party gift cards.
  • I still have ~$700 left to max out our Chase Freedom Q3 categories, and will probably end up buying prepaid or gift cards to do it.
  • I'm floating a bit too much money in gift cards and VGCs, and have been spending these down.
  • We've been working on a $5k MSR on my wife’s Amex Hilton Biz (just finished last week), $10k MSR on the Biz Plat, and $5k MSR on the SPG Lux.
  • Because it appears that a common factor among those who receive the Amex welcome bonus denial popup is the lack of spend on their Amex cards after meeting MSR and receiving the bonus, I've been trying to shift spend that I might've put on a Chase card over to Amex. The Amex Offers and MSRs help.
  • Let's take a look at some bonus categories on Amex's cards: The SPG Biz earns a nice 4x Marriott for dining and gas, and I have the 10% credit at Exxon Amex Offer. The SPG Lux earns a decent 3x Marriott at restaurants. The Hilton Biz earns a pretty nice 6x HH for dining and gas.
To your point about valuing relationships with the credit card issuers, my short term and long term plans involve Amex, and I do not want to have those plans disrupted by a bonus denial popup (even though it appears to be dynamic that can go away, and not a permanent ban). My plans with Chase are limited to dropping back under 5/24 early next year, grabbing the CIU, getting another personal card, and saying our goodbyes. I'll have a pentafecta of Chase UR-earning cards that'll be able to generate URs at a bonus for almost any kind of spend: CSR (3x travel and dining), CIP (3x telecom and shipping), CIC (5x gift cards and telecom), CIU (1.5x everywhere), and CF (5x rotating categories). Chase doesn't care if I buy prepaid cards or gift cards; doesn't care if I don't regularly use their cards; and I've played by their rules and gotten most of the cards I want to get. If Amex wants me to be a good customer and use their cards in order to get bonuses on more cards, I'll happily do so if that means I can grab one or two more business cards at the end of the this year and/or early next year while I'm sitting out on Chase; go through their portfolio of MR-earning cards and Hilton cards; and whatever else comes up.

My plan, after getting the pop-up last month, is to put spend on my Amex cards and try again in a month or so. I've decided for this first month to experiment with trying to put a high number of transactions on the cards, but not necessarily a high $ amount. So, when I have a purchase under $10 to $20, that doesn't fall under the 3% or 5% categories for my Chase cards, I'm putting it on one of my two Amexes (rotating between the two). So, we will see in a couple of weeks if Amex has changed their mind about giving me the Aspire.

That is fabulous news! Maybe there’s still hope for me? I don’t know what I should do, if anything. My sign up bonus for CSP didn’t post and the statement closed a few days ago. I have been using both cards quite a bit as I really do have separate uses for each card so I can keep my expenses separated. There’s over 2K on one and 1.5K on the other. I still have high CL on both cards. Should I message them about my bonus or let it ride? I have not had time to go back and read everything that’s been written on this so I apologize if I’m asking stupid questions lol.

If you aren't going as hard as this guy...https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/c...d_september_13_2018/e5xthh3/?context=3...then you ain't churning apparently! :rotfl2: LOL! Sometimes I get such a kick out of these newbies on r/churning who dive into this way too fast. The only thing I can imagine is "do they have any idea what they're doing" :confused3

That said - I think YOU are going about this the right way :) haha!

:offtopic: With people having closures and having a bad day, I had one too. My car started jumping while driving and shaking going down the road. Ended up not doing errands and went home. Auto repair shop that I can walk to easily can't take car and look at it until Monday. Wife comes home, we eat dinner and I decide I am going for a haircut. That goes well and when I pull out of the parking lot, I get hit on the right rear by another car, while driving my wifes car. Great! Two cars now have repairs needed. More cosmetic than anything and the door still opens. Just a wrench in things and not having family in the area makes logistics very tricky with what will be getting an estimate, rental, and what not. Wife going to NY next week with her car so nothing happening next week.

Ok..rant over.

Omg talk about bad luck! I have to take my car in, too. The auto repair place "fixed" my muffler, but now I'm getting codes on my car about exhaust issues. I'm not so sure they did the right job. My car has also been squeaking like crazy and Dh is sure it's the brakes. He tried putting grease on some part of the car (I know nothing about cars) and it didn't work like he thought it would. It doesn't help that my car is 13 years old.
