DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

We need an excuse???
You need an excuse for tacos and tequila? Hocus Pocus, at least its Disney but more importantly what do the kids want?
:thumbsup2 To the extent we imbibe on Halloween, yeah it's good to have a reason. Last year the last guests left about 3AM. I'll try and dig out the photo of what our back room looked like. The cleanup was horrendous. Great night though.
Mike, the kids would be happy with either. Hocus Pocus is 25th Anniversary this year, Mexican Day of the dead ties into Coco.

Look after yourself Rob, hopefully all will be as well as it can be.

The track still has the storm heading northeast of us so our only issue right now will be potential flooding as the river systems become overwhelmed. The folks over in eastern NC though have the most to be concerned about right now.

Hope everyone has their french toast supplies. We have a conference call for the storm this afternoon but I think right now we're just expecting to get rain from the remnants. Sounds like the worst part will be if it stalls over NC and dumps all of that rain in one spot.

Gives us a good excuse to drink tequila and eat tacos. .

Ahem. Taco Tuesday!!! Taco tequila tuesday? Solved it. And, who needs an excuse? Sounds like a jeopardy answer - What are things I do during the week. That, and hand-washing. :lmao:

Already got the bigger pants...
Several times...
Now even those are getting tight.

Don't plan to giving the clothing manufacturers the satisfaction of selling me more.
(Not to mention, it'd be much better on what's left on the wreckage that is my old body.)

Or, go with sweat pants. I asked DW if I could get by with those pregnancy stretchy jeans. She said no.

That is how they stared doing all of our annual "manditory" refresher trainings. Sexual harassment, active shooter, fraud prevention, robbery training. Just a bunch of random click thru animations and a multiple guess "test" at the end that you have to get at least 90% on.

Yup. No learning. Just need a click compliance for HR to provide lip service that it was completed, so they can fire you and provide proof of your training.

Too bad as they foiled my master plan. Work somewhere for 23 years, never receive a complaint, then harass someone before retiring. Brilliant. :furious: :sad2:

A pause to remember today.....

If I may be so bold as to post a link, there's story from my part of the world that some of you may have heard about, others maybe not.

By the way, it's time for American Ninja Warrior finals.
OK, this is the first year I've paid much attention to it, but it seemed a bit strange to me that they designed a course that's so difficult, nobody could finish. I was expecting the satisfaction of at least one person being able to finish and win the million dollars. Maybe I'm too used to Survivor...

Maybe Mexican Day of the Dead. Gives us a good excuse to drink tequila and eat tacos.
Sounds cool to me. There's a lot of that stuff in the Mexico pavilion now and I thought it looked good. You'll just need to pop over and pick up some of it to help with the decorating.

nothing to eat after 8pm. It ain't fun, but you get use to it after a while.
That is my biggest downfall...sitting in front of the TV in the night, getting the munchies. I know it's bad. I try to talk myself out of it, but doesn't usually work.

Great story, thanks for sharing. Could use more of that these days

That is the reason I still like the show. They kept that part from the original Japanese version. No automatic winners if no one is good enough then no one wins, go home losers train better.

That's cool Jeff! Your town or just near by or just an illustration of being a newfie?
Not my town, it's about 3 hours drive away from me. Gander made a big impact because the "plane people" essentially doubled the size of the town - and it now has a successful Broadway musical "Come From Away" to help tell the tale (Google it if you have time).
But my city also had a lot of planes land to take refuge. Being a larger place there was more infrastructure. Most of the people were housed in hotels, schools, and arenas, so there wasn't such an extent of personal connections.

Okay guys...non-Disney vent. Feel free to skip over if you'd like.

Had an appointment for a physical. Nothing complicated, just a physical. Wanted to see how my numbers look after all the weight loss.
Get there 10 minutes early (I always try to be early). 30 minutes after the appointment time, still NOTHING. Go to the receptionist and she asks me if I want to re-schedule. I say no, I'd like my time to be considered at all important and respected and walked out.

I'll buy 100 dole whips for anyone who could point me to a doctor that's worth a flying BLEEP and gives a BLEEP about their patients. At this point, I'm thinking even if it's in another state, it's worth it.

(Okay, rant over).

Yep, I read the article and it mentioned that. Also the hockey rink being a big refrigerator.

very familiar with that, of course. :)

:sad2: I get that if there are emergencies, that a Dr can be delayed... but when it's for physicals, etc.... what could be delaying him? Hit it into the rough and couldn't find his ball?

I know one. But I don't think you're gonna wanna travel this far up here.
I'm always surprised that she's on time. Or very close to it. And apologizes when she's 5 minutes late!

Dagnabbit. If only it wasn't so stinking cold up there.

What made it even worse (for me) was I originally had an appointment for first thing Friday morning (I would HOPE she could be on time for the FIRST appointment) and the doctor was "called out of town" so it was re-scheduled for today in the middle of the day which is not conducive to work. That's why I walked out 30 minutes past the appointment time. I have better (well okay mandatory) things to do than to wait and my time is valuable too!

Me too, my guy is basically on time and last week when they got me in super fast and the doc was maybe 5-10 minutes late first words out of his mouth was sorry for the wait and last words were sorry again about being a little late.

I hear ya. I would love, just once, to say "Oh, no problem. I get paid $25/hour (or pick a number), here's your bill for my time that you wasted."

And that's the way it should be... and am very aware that's the exception rather than the rule.

Maybe it's time to move to Nashville.

I so seriously thought about that...sending them a bill for today.

It should be, but it seems the majority of doctors think of themselves as royalty and we're the mere peasants that must be dealt with.

Maybe it's time to move to Nashville.
Come on up. Seriously, my doc is part of a medical group tied to the local hospital and they send out a survey after every visit even for regular check-ups. I even got "how are you doing" email follow-up and reminder to get with my PCP after Emergency Room visit. They are really focused on the patient experience as much as they are on the medical care, we're pretty lucky.
