Hello Everyone!! We'll be checking into the Poly in 48 days for our Disneymoon! I CANNOT wait!

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! Hope you have a great Disneymoon :goodvibes.

I think we would have to Uber it from the resort, even if I move back the reservation because I know the buses can take a while. My fiance just told me that he loves the DME bus so it's looking like we may just have to relax at the resort that night and not make any DS dining reservations. But that's ok, it's our first time staying at the Poly and it will be fun to explore! Thanks so much for your help! :thanks:

That sounds like a nice relaxing evening after traveling! Have fun :).

Personally, I like to take it easy our first night. Who needs the stress of trying to make a reservation on your first night. So many great dining options at the Poly too. Plus, you will likely be tired from your wedding the night before. Relax and take a walk around the resort.

I agree ;).

If you’ll be staying at the resort, I recommend enjoying some drinks and small plates on Trader Sam’s patio followed by fireworks from the beach. This has become our arrival night ritual!

Great suggestion ::yes::.

We checked in last night late. Our flight landed around 8:15, and we were the last people on our ME bus before we left MCO. We were at the Poly by 9:30 after stopping at the GF first. We have a room in Fiji on the 3rd floor facing the GF and Wedding Pavilion. I’m not sure if we’ll miss any of the Poly ambience being on this side of the resort, but we are here to celebrate our belated 10th anniversary, and we were married at the Wedding Pavilion, so it’s the perfect view for us, and only 2 doors down from the room we requested on TP! I’m excited to experience our first full day as Poly guests!

Have a great time and enjoy the Poly :wizard:.

What do you all think is the quickest way back to Poly after HEA fireworks? I thought I’m reading that resort monorail doesn’t usually have long lines? We’re staying this week at Poly DVC so I don’t expect large crowds. Also I will be alone with a toddler and a stroller so time will be of the essence lol

FWIW, if you are leaving right after HEA it will be you and several thousand of your new closest friends no matter which transportation option you choose.

Personally, I usually eyeball the Resort Monorail and Poly/GF Resort Launch (boat) lines and make a judgement call at the time. Note, the Resort Monorail line could be pretty stout right after fireworks... meaning, all the way down the ramp. Could take 2-3 monorails. Things really get maxed out right after fireworks in ways you won't experience most other times of the day. I do find the Resort Monorail line moves faster than I think it will, so long as trains are running smoothly/regularly.

Another option that's not necessarily a terrible idea (especially since you're on the DVC side of the resort) is to take the MK Ferry to the TTC and walk over. I've done this when I didn't like the looks of other options.

After battling these crowds for years, I made a decision before our trip that we would opt out of in park fireworks viewing. The fam agreed that we didn't need to be in the middle of MK to enjoy fireworks. So, instead we viewed them from California Grill one night, a private fireworks cruise on our 25th anniversary, and from our resort the rest of the nights. It was the right decision for us. Returning from Cali Grill on the monorail was a little crowded, but nothing compared to MK. Our boat dropped us off at the Poly dock after fireworks, which was awesome, and quite easy. This is our new fireworks viewing strategy from now on.

GADisneyDad14 has already given you a great rundown of your options. I will add a couple of thoughts, though.

With a child in a stroller, you may find the ferry to the TTC very convenient because you can push the stroller right on without disturbing the little one at all. It’s an easy and smooth push up and down the docking ramps and a smooth ride across the lagoon with no stops. Very easy to find a spot on the lower deck with minimal bumping and maneuvering. The walk from the TTC to the Poly is short and pleasant, especially if you are on the DVC side. FWIW, the ferry is our preferred mode when pushing our son in his wheelchair.

The monorail is also a good option, but will require you to find a car with room for the stroller (not filled yet), and the little one may feel some jostling getting on and off, because the car deck is not level with the boarding deck. Wheelchairs & ECVs need a ramp to board. The resort line will have more bumps and stops, plus you will need to navigate an elevator at the GCH.

The resort launch is not wheel-on at all: You will need to remove your little one and fold the stroller on the boat. It also stops at the GF first on the way back, which adds a few minutes to the trip. I want to say it’s about 15 minutes total from MK to the Poly. But it’s a beautiful ride if your toddler is up to it.

That’s my favorite thing about the Poly, lots of GREAT options to get to and from the MK. The one you choose depends on the situation and your needs at the time. Have fun!

For those who have stayed at the Poly before and taken midday naps, how dark can the rooms get? Do the heavier curtains close all the way or just the thin privacy sheets? We don’t have to have blackout curtains but obviously nap time goes easier with a darker room. We are staying on DVC side if it makes a difference...thanks!

blackout, you wont have issues with light

Summer sun mid day...room black and passed out! I always have to set my alarm though because nap hard!

And I would suggest bringing some clothes pins or large binder clips to hold the heavy drapes closed. Sometimes there will be just a slight separation between the two drapery panels and that bright Florida sun shines through the gap.

What is the difference between Standard room in the Poly Village vs the standard room Poly Villa. We are a family of 5 . When I look at the villa, by the time I open the pull out and the day bed , there is no room to walk. Can you share your thoughts please? Also we do like to be close to the TTC. Thanks

Even with the sofa bed out and the Murphy bed down, there is still plenty of room to walk in the villas. In the dark, you can easily hit your shins on the corners of the beds if you're not careful (well, you can do that in the daylight too), but there's a lot of room to move around.

Personally I would trade off some element of 'space' for a newer finish and nicer appointments within the Villa rooms..... Some of the Long Houses are looking old!

We have stayed in the Moorea long house which has DVC villas and I think the rooms were very spacious! I believe they have the greatest square footage of the DVC studios. Moorea is a very quick walk to the TTC as well.

So put this in the really picky comments about a WDW room file. Our kiddos have mostly been in the nap age range in our WDW travels, so things like a dark/darkish room - while not deal killers.... are a preference. I’ve always loved Poly rooms because you can get those suckers VERY dark.

Stayed at GF last year... the curtains there are different and let a lot of light through. Every day at nap time I kind of missed those dark Poly rooms! :-)

Great to know, another reason I’m happy we picked the Poly! Thx for everyone’s feedback...13days!

We failed to bring a nightlight so we had to leave a bathroom door cracked with the light on to see anything, fwiw.

Ha, and then you have a kid like mine who won’t nap in a hotel room. We tried it once last year and it was a disaster. He slept fine in his stroller in the middle of busy theme parks in the bright sun, but in a quiet, dark hotel room? Not happening. Sometimes I wonder if he is really my child...

We passed our 60-days out as of yesterday. Got up early and arranged our fastpasses. The only thing we weren't able to get was Slinky Dog Dash. I'm excited for the trip, but I have medical issues that I'm afraid might cause us to have to cancel. I'll know more on Friday. It's hard because I've been planning this trip for over a year and have wanted to go to Disney for over 30 years.
