I am wondering what I am missing here regarding fastpass reservations. I have been trying all week at 7am to line up Slinky Dog, FOP and 7 Dwarfs mine train and all are taken. I have kept trying and filled in FOP and 7 Dwarfs but have not seen anything available for Slinky Dog. How is it that these are gone before the release time?

Because thousands of others are arriving before you, and FPs are available for onsite guests’ length of stay. You may find the FP FAQ helpful.

Did you try to book your entire vacation at 60 days out? You’re are able to book all your days at 60 days from arrival date. We usually try to book the park or ride that is harder to get later in our trip. Ups the chance that there is still something available.

You must be staying onsite, but it sounds like you’re getting up each day to book one day at a time. You book all your days on day 60.
Yes, but for some reason my days only appear as clickable on day 60, one at a time. I have my reservation saved so the system knows I am on property. I have been thinking maybe they changed the length of stay at 60 days option.

No. The length of stay option is still there. You shouldn't be having to do that. Something is not linked properly, or there is a glitch. It would have been more helpful a few days ago, but how many days are left in your trip? If it's many, I would definitely call Disney.

I notice the lack of availability of big fastpasses for my 60 day window opening up last week as oppose to 6 months ago.

I truly think it now also has to do with all the good neighbor hotels, 4 seasons hotel, etc being part of the 60 day window. Where as six months ago it was just disney property hotels. also club level gets fp at 90 days if they $

While i got everything i wanted at 60 day I did have to wait till much further in my trip to get them (we are staying for ten nights) if I had a shorter trip I would have had no chance. Its disappointing at 60 days out to not get what you want esp when you log on exactly at 7am

I had no problems with the system this morning. I hope you do call, as you should be able to book your whole trip. I had no problem booking FoP on the 3rd day of my trip, and Slinky Dog the 4th day.

Just to illustrate PP: we are here onsite now for 18 days. I booked 14 days of FP at 60 days prior to our first check in day. So I was able to book FoP, SDD or 7DMT 74 days in advance. (I.e., if I book my 14 day onsite as soon as possible, that is 74 days in advance.) (FYI I am then able to book the 15th day at 59 days from my first check in day, etc - so I’m still 74 days in advance for my 14th through 18th days onsite. And I am staying now - late August- not October like u appear to be, so guessing higher crowds and thus more people booking for October.)

And club level people book further in advance iirc?

I had exact same experience this morning with FOP and Slinky. The system actually seemed less glitchy than usual today. Booked 10 days with no problems.

60+4 right now is the sweet spot for any of the big attractions. You are *very likely" to be able to find something at that range. 60+3 or below you are likely to find it full.

The +3/+4 does seem to be around the break-point. I had to make my FPs last week. Right at 7AM I could get some afternoon FPs (after ~ 3PM) for Slinky Dog and FoP at 60 +3. For 60 +4 there were times available morning til night for SDD and FoP. Of course FoP filled up A LOT faster than SDD but at +4 there were some morning FPs if hopping on the system at 7 AM.

It's probably that darn "length of stay" bonus. I think a lot of people (newcomers) don't know about it and are often SHOCKED when they log in at the first available minute of their FP window and don't find things available, not realizing that people have been booking those Fast Passes days before them.

I wonder how many people try to "game" the system:
1) Book a long (10-day trip - get their fast passes for the end of the trip and then simply cut out the first few days of the trip to the lengthy they really wanted.

2) Book a long trip, get fast passes .. and then cancel that room reservation (and just stay offsite). I think your fast passes are still retained in this case.

Definitely feel that with all the Disney Springs hotels being able to book at 60 days as well, that the amount of people trying to get it at 60 days is obviously larger too.

Wish they could just implement a system where there is no "length of stay" bonus. 60 days = 60 days. While it would be a pain to schedule your FPs every day for X days, it would be fair for everyone.

Frankly, I wish they would just ditch the 60 day planning mess and do what Disneyland does .. just make it so you book them day of -- giving you the benefit of skipping the line, but the flexibility to go to whatever park you want without advanced planning (but WDW doesn't want that obviously, they want to know ahead of time how many people are coming to X park).

The OP may have more than one DVC Stay and Stay#1 has rolled into Stay#2 and with an AP, the window is rolling day by day due to what the system is considering an extra long stay.

I have to wonder how much of a difference the "Good Neighbors" hotels being able to book at 60 days has impacted FP availability. While I understand there are fewer low crowd days, we tend to travel around the same tiems each year and the popular FPs are definitely more difficult to get.

There’s not much activity on the Orlando board regarding the DSprings Hotels.

Club Level guests are also booking up to 90 days out and their FPs come out of the general pool of FPs - they don’t have a dedicated pool of CL FPs.

I don't know how many current DISers were around and aware back when FP+ was being announced and tested.
We had weeks of back-and-forth discussions on this board about Disney simply moving the "frantic rush"
for booking FPs from being "in-person, day-of" (remember the horrendous lines at Toy Story Mania FP machines every morning?)
to that "rush" basically being transmuted to "60 days in advance on a computer screen."
Just as wild, but instead of just those who chose to brave the physical trek to the FP machines (and those long lines,)
now "everybody" heading to WDW during a given period is attempting to book the most popular FPs
at ALL parks for their entire trip at precisely the same "tick of the (7AM ET) clock."

Many of us then (and still NOW) consider that anxiety to not be much relieved (and often, it can be so much more frustrating.)

"I told you so," takes on a serious and literal meaning regarding the flawed and glitchy FP+ "system."
