Disney's WILDERNESS LODGE Information & Questions

I love WL just as it is, but my guess is that we will see something similar to what they did at POFQ; maybe a "refresh" of the furniture, with all new soft goods, wood (or "wood like") flooring, new tile in bathrooms, TVs hung on walls, etc.

It feels almost like WL is going to be the test case for this new Disney style of decorating at the Deluxe level; up until now, haven't all the Deluxe renos kept the same levels of theming and the same type of aesthetic, even if fabrics or colors changed?
No, far from it. GF, YC, & BC have all had total renos and reduced theming.

Security checks? For those who have stayed recently what’s your experience? Our last WDW stay was just before these were started.

You can do online check in, but room requests online have not been available for sometime. Call direct and have your request noted on your reservation. Have a magical trip.

Thank you! Weird, is that just for the WL or all Disney resorts now? I stayed in Pop in May and I’m pretty sure I requested the section I wanted to stay in online! I’ll definitely call and add that room request, I have a courtyard view and I love getting up in the morning and looking out over Bay Lake! (And again, scared of snakes on the ground floor, haha!)

It is all resorts and has been the last couple months. My April reservation was fine, I was able to select online and my July one was not.

If you are booked in a standard room (booked last fall) can you request a bunk bed room? Do those even exist anymore?

You can request bunk beds with a Standard View reservation, but they are not guaranteed, since it will be a view upgrade as well since there are no bunks in the Standard View rooms. If you want to guarantee bunks they are a separate bookable category for the higher price views. There is talk of removing them, but they are still bookable. We had a great stay in a bunk bed room last year with a Standard View reservation, and our kids loved it. It never hurts to ask. :)

I'm booked in a standard room (booked in Feb), and put in a request for bunk beds. At the time I put in the request there was only standard and courtyard options. I check in this Wednesday, so we'll see what we get.

Is there a place I can find what promotions were available for the WL this past May, 2018??? We are looking at May 2019 and I'm trying to get an idea of a possible discount. We always go in May and there's always been a discount of some sort but I feel like the WL has been excluded recently. TIA!

Sadly, WL has been getting discounted less since it had half of it's rooms converted to CC Villas. I would not expect more than 10-15% off for a general public offer with the possibility of having Fridays and Saturdays excluded directly through Disney.

Do you have a Disney Visa or AP? They tend to offer better discounts.

Please post with what you got! I check in 2 weeks from now. I also put my requests in when options were standard or courtyard.

Sorry if this was already discussed earlier in the thread and I missed it, but I'm wondering, will the WL room refurbishment include installing dispensers for shampoo, conditioner, and bodywash? Originally it seemed the deluxe resorts were excluded from this change, but in light of recent comments, I wonder if the deluxes will also be getting the dispensers.

I know some people prefer to have dispensers and some would rather not. To me, dispensers make it seem like an institution rather than a nice hotel, and I'd rather see them provide a recycle bin for the plastic tubes, but retain the individual containers.

Also I really liked the themed rooms at WL, and will be sad to see them lose the theming and end up generic, if that's the way it turns out.

It appears that the small toiletry bottles are on their way out at all Disney hotels, whether or not the hotel is scheduled for refurbishment, due to Disney’s new anti-plastic policy:

That's exactly what I was concerned about. I wish they had gone with recycling bins for the plastic containers, instead of removing the individual items. There are still many offsite hotels with individual shampoos etc., and I'd lean towards staying in those, even though WL has been a favorite for a long time. If the rooms get de-themed, that's another way WL loses its edge over offsite.

It says reducing by 80%. There may still be some resorts that have them. CCV was just remodeled and does not have the dispensers. Neither do any of the deluxes that were recently remodeled. Only value and mods have them so far. For deluxes I could see them going to on request.

I think that's only temporary too. I'm seeing the industry changing over slowly all over. We were at Marriott properties last month with wall mounted dispensers. So some are still doing individuals but I think it's only a matter of time before they are gone. Much like plastic straws. Once a trend takes hold, it TAKES HOLD. If you know what I mean

I saw someone else answered this but you can use this Mousesavers link as a resource to see historical data on discounts and when they were released. So even WL isn't in the cards you can check to see what else might be up your alley.

Yes we have a Disney visa how will I find discounts for that
