“Official” 2018 Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party – Strategy and Itinerary Thread

So now I have an itinerary question...

My niece (23) and I will be going to the 9/9 MNSSHP. I went several years ago with my Mom and this is my niece's first one. We have other MK days planned, so we are going to concentrate on the parade, fireworks, candy, the Cadaver Dans, a few characters, and just the general ambiance of the night. I especially want to get a pic with the 7 Dwarfs. Maybe one with the Queen of Hearts and the twins (if they are there), since I'll be decorating my ECV as the Cheshire Cat (with me as the body). Weather permitting we are planning on the doing the late parade.

We have an ADR for BOG at 4:40pm, but I'm trying to get a little earlier. I've heard that the new dinner menu is taking up to 2 hours sometimes. Should we line up for the 7D right after dinner or try to catch them later in the evening?

If you can move dinner or be done by 5:30, I would line up for them then.

I agree. BOG is now a Signature dinning taking 2 Table Credits, it's a place to really slow things down and enjoy all it has to offer. If at all possible I would go there on a non party night.

I didn't realize it was seating late or taking two hours since it changed, that's interesting. So let's work this out...

4:20-6:40 BOG - This is really a big chunk of time if the two hour rumor is correct.
6:50-7:30 Queen of Hearts
7:45-9:15 candy, the Cadaver Dans, ambiance and Dwarfs - You only have about two hours, three at best.
9:35-10:30 Hallowishes
10:35-11:35 Parade
11:50-12:00 Hocus Pocus

I've given more time from Point A to Point B because of the ECV. My best advice, drop the ADR, eat a solid meal prior to entering Magic Kingdom at 4pm.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the TP res finder can find something for us earlier.

I'm hoping the 2 hours is just because its new and the staff is still getting used to how to do it. We'll see if anyone going to an earlier party has BOG and their impressions. I'd really hate to drop it since my niece hasn't been and it was one of her requests for this trip.

We don't really have any interest in the Hocus Pocus show:duck:, so maybe that would be a good time to get some character pics. How late do they stay? The character pics are more of a "wouldn't that be cool" vs "we must do this or our lives are meaningless" kind of thing.

I guess everything is going to be conjecture until the reports for the August parties start rolling in.

Character lines do not work the same way as a ride line, 11:50 is iffy for getting into a character line, not saying that it hasn't happened but I would never tell someone here that "Yes, you can" I'm just not comfortable with that. What I would recommend is getting Magic Shots on Main Street because it's so easy to get them done at that time. Your best time for more meet & greets is after QofH getting in her line by 6:30 is a must for the lowest wait. From 7:45-9:15 that's when you have time for other things. If you chose to meet the Dwarfs it would take up at least 1.5 hrs. if not more. I would wait. I would wait until I saw more reports. Hopefully, fellow DISer's will come through and report what they see while there and/or follow up the next day. These reports are invaluable.

I think the only stuffed/plush item I'll buy is Mummy Goofy! He's just too cute!

Oh he is cute! I love him already lol. Dh might be a little upset if I get another stuffed animal. I bought Winnie the Pooh at mk on our last trip. He looks so raggedy from the new movie and she said when they’re gone they’re gone so I had to get him!
