I love credit cards so much!

Not sure how many SW people are here..but figured I’d share my experience with 2 LUV vouchers we received.
I always use points to fly and have the companion pass.

When the gate agent gave me the vouchers I inquired about converting then to points...she was unable to do it but told me to call the customer service office in TX. Spoke with them today....they can’t convert the voucher to points, but she was able to convert an existing reservation I had made with points to the voucher. My companions confirmation number stayed the same...my changed. She also refunded the EBCI fee for the first reservation to my cc ...then charged my cc for EBCI on the new reservation

looked at my RR account online and all is in order..so I’m very happy

6/24 seems to be it, but it’s not nearly as consistent as Chase’s very hard 5/24. I have like 10 people over 6/24 who’ve been approved on the Reddit thread for A+ despite being at or over 6/24, but most people are denied do to too many inquiries/accounts.

heh, i learn something everyday... :]

I am sorta rethinking my SW CP plan too since it won't be super easy anymore. Since we are moving back to CHS next May I will no longer need to fly to CHS a couple times a year, or to MCO. That will cut down on our flights substantially. I may be better off just racking up UR points and transferring as needed to SW.

I don't value the early boarding 4x that comes with the card because we go straight to the back of the plane anyways. I don't know what I was hoping for with the card, but they didn't deliver.:sad1:

Agree..I was hoping for a larger sign up bonus...we get a lot of use out of the CP...and thankfully have it until 12/31/2019..who knows what SW will be offering then

Email from Delta offering me 150 miles for taking a "brief survey". Decided what the heck, why not? Click through... "this survey will take 15-20 mins to complete" :rotfl2:

I am such a sad #deltahostage that I saw your post and was like "what? I will do a survey for 150 miles!"

For anyone with Delta miles to burn they are having a sale between now and midnight tonight on miles travel. Book by tonight for travel between August 13 and November 7. I am so sad...I convinced DH we could do a spur of the moment trip for a couple nights before the girls start school again on August 20th. Take advantage of AP's and use new DVC points. He started getting excited too until he looked at his schedule and can't miss that week. Guess I will have to wait until end of October now as was plan for next Disney fix. :( @speedyfishy you inspired me on the charm of a last minute trip!

When do you get family boarding with Southwest? Under 6 or 7? I forgot the exact age but if you get family boarding you will be able to sit together. I also have no problem saving seats no one wants to sit next to you anyway and everyone looks for an open row. You’d probably be fine going to the back and holding seats back there.

Also, if you check in right at 24 hours you will be fine too. I paid for the early bird check in once when it was my SO’s first time flying. He was extremely nervous lol. It isn’t necessary tho. We have sat together on every flight except for the one where I decided I was leaving for Orlando four hours before flight time.

Also, no one buys those A1-15 boarding positions so there should be some available. Every time I fly now they are trying to sell them.
I checked in exactly 24 hours and unfortunately that was not good enough when I took my kids on their first ever flight because the flight was sold out. My kids were too old for family boarding and ended up not able to sit with me. There were no open rows or even two seats in a row when we boarded. I'm sure I was more traumatized than them, but I wish I had paid for early bird check-in. I ended up adding early-bird on for our flight home, but that flight wasn't full so we probably didn't even need it.

What have we come to? There’s a 10% eBay Bucks promo going on and we’re not buying anymore, we’re selling! Meanwhile, eBay laid off 300 people yesterday. Clearly they’ve made some poor decisions.

Anyway, two things.

First, make sure you’ve added your CIP to your eBay account so that monthly invoices for seller’s fees are charged to your CIP, not PayPal or some other card that’s not as rewarding. The CIP earns you 3x on eBay seller’s fees, which takes some of the hurt out of the 10% that eBay takes from your sales.

Second, the CIP can earn you 3x on eBay shipping through PayPal (but the CIC will not earn you 5x).

eBay shipping is routed through PayPal, so you need to set up eBay Inc Shipping in PayPal to deduct from your CIP. In your PayPal account, go to settings (the widget icon), click on Payments, find Pre-approved payments, click Manage pre-approved payments, make sure eBay Inc Shipping is tied to your CIP and not your bank account or any other accounts, because it’ll be set to automatically deduct from whatever payment method is selected. If eBay Inc Shipping is connected to some other account, delete it and set it up again to deduct from the CIP.

And because PayPal tends to deduct from any PayPal balance first, you should transfer out the full balance of your PayPal account to your bank before creating a shipping label on eBay if you want to pay with your CIP, or else eBay will deduct the shipping cost from your PayPal balance.

Hope this helps. It took me a long while to figure it out on my end. The email Receipt for Your Payment to eBay Inc Shipping should show a charge to your CIP last 4-digit number under Funding Sources Used.

I know, right? After seeing the 10% ebucks promo for buying or selling, my heart did it's normal, sad flutter as it remembered all the previous fun but my first thought was "what can I sell?". Yes, times have changed :( I did not hear about ebay laying off 300 people. I'm glad ebay is feeling the financial impact of their poor decisions but sad anyone loses their job.

Thank you for the detailed instructions on using my CIP! I would never have figured that out myself!

Does booking a Hotel only direct with Disney count as Travel with CSR? Or should I use um Freedom instead?

I’d let it sit. I’ve seen a DP from someone who let it sit and they got approved. You’re over 6/24, no need to draw extra attention to your application.

ETA: for clarification I’ve also seen people denied after letting it sit but imho you still have nothing to gain by calling

That's my feeling as well. I'm well over 6/24 but have an established relationship with Barclays. I have no doubt that if I call, the rep will see my many accounts and auto-deny. But maybe, just maybe, given I've had a card for several months and I had only 3 TU pulls at the time of application, I'll go through. We'll see. I'm mostly just amused it's taken so long, especially so if I end up denied anyway.

Yeah, priority boarding means nothing to me either (also back of the plane peeps!). The 20% back on in-flight purchases may make sense for some but we don't really purchase anything in-flight. I was thinking maybe higher sign-up bonus?? 40k is the low end of their other cards...and no way am I spending the increased amount for a measly 25k more miles. This card just fell flat for me too.

OK I have a question I should definitely know by this late in the game but I still don't get it. All things Amex confuse me. I don't get adding offers to AU cards. I only have my DH as an AU on one card, my BCE. On it I have the 10% dept stores, Wayfair 20$ off 100, and a few others I might do. Am I able to use each offer 2x because I have an AU? I have done the trick of opening multiple tabs to add offers but I never really knew why I was supposed to do it. My thinking was because I have one log in for my BCE and my SPG Business if I had the same offer on both cards it would disappear from the other once I added it to one but I don't know fi I had that straight.

Also I am slowly getting my BFF into this game (I've sorta got myself a player 3 :smooth:). She did Marriott in June and then we will each do a SW double dip in Oct/Nov/Dec for CP. That doesn't sound like too much Chase in a 6 month period does it?

Edit: OMG I never realized I could make separate logins for AU's! We aren't really AU people (ya know, those precious 5/24 slots) but now I get it!

Omg I’m so sorry. That is awful! I can’t believe no one gave up their seat so you guys could sit together too. I would have definitely done that if kids were separated from their parents. I actually witnessed someone do that on a flight, I would have but I also had a child with me then too.

I know not many here have the Hyatt card but is/has anyone upgraded? I don't see much incentive to do it other thank the 2k in points for just a purchase. But the af is $20 more.

The original card is staying right? So I could upgrade, decide it's not worth it and then downgrade it or get a retention when the af comes due. 2k for $20 plus a small purchas seems good.

The only thing I'm interested in is the extra points for paying a gym membership but I don't think my gym let's you use a cc. When I joined it had to be a bank withdrawal. I'll have to ask. It's only 10 bucks a month anyway, yay planet fitness.

Same here! I was really hoping for a good sign-up bonus to go for CP later this year since DH's expires in December. This offer was quite a let down in my opinion. Guess now I'll have to rethink our flight plans.

I will probably still have DH apply for this to get points towards the CP. I have the CP now through the end of this year. The way I look at is - we can meet the spend with DS's tuition payments. So we would get the 65,000 points within the first 6 mos of next year. If I start the MSR in January all the points we earn while meeting the MSR will count. So that is a minimum of 16,000 points (more if used for the 2 points/dollar categories). That's 81,000 minimum. There are other ways to get the additional 29,000 points through some creative shopping, paying for some of DS's flights back and forth to school instead of using points, and just continuing to put tuition payments on the card. It would take probably 6-10 months to get the CP, but we don't have a need for it for 2019 anyway. So even though we would probably just use the CP in 2020, it could be worth it.

I am not sure yet, but I do see this as a possible card for us. We are currently working on accumulating as many United points as possible, so earning SW CP won't be for a while.

I occasionally do a survey for American just to keep all my points from expiring until I can use them. A lot of the survey links they send will tell me I don't qualify for it anyway after I start!

An update on my incorrectly awarded Marriott Travel Package (transferred to United instead of Alaska). I was on hold for over an hour today and a supervisor filled out a ticket to have it corrected. He has to put it up the chain and I should hear something in 24-36 hours. They are supposed to call. Anyone want to give me odds on that happening? Anyway, they were very apologetic, but it's frustrating that it can't be instantly corrected. I voiced my concern that things would get even more messed up, and he assured me there were notes in my account.

Anyway, what are the current thoughts on using the floating certificates? Mine is a Category 6. I have two choices:
(1) Make a reservation with dates that I'm pretty sure of, possibly having to move a day or two back or forward
(2) Wait and hope that when August 1st hits, the Category 6 turns into either a Category 5 certificate or instant redemption of 75k+ points.

What would you guys do?

There is only one card offer out there right now, which yes, you can upgrade to.

I have the Hyatt card but I have no intentions to upgrade.

But - I don't think you would be able to downgrade back, as there is no actual offer available for the old terms. However someone else may have more experience with this.
