Disney Gift Card Deals

According to this article from Komo News, these 5 and their Target gift card scheme are the reason Target changed the policy to include the pin. Given how they did it, it doesn't surprise me this was added. It also explains how some people would have had their cards drained whether they were in the app or not.

Glad they got caught! Lord knows how many more are out there doing the same!

Yup and what's weird is I used 2 $25 gc's at Target this morning and both the cashier and I expected it to ask for the pin's but neither did. I've had to use them at this location before too. I don't understand that, especially given that the people caught were in our area, though I think north of Seattle while I'm south. I was buying Mickey stuff and 2 $25 gc.

Did you use the current promotion, Buy $20 of Mickey stuff, Get a $5 Target gift card? I bought a lot of Junk Food items just last week, wondering if this promotion is online only. Thanks!

I had a $300 Target GC that was drained in California, and Target refunded it, no problems, just took a few weeks. They were probably attributed to being used by these suspects.

American Express Offers

There are currently two offers for American Express cardholders: 10% off Disney Gift Cards at Lowe's & Staples.
Unfortunately we did not get the offers on our accounts. :( Hope you all have better luck!

They are on Amex Biz cards for those wondering as a part of the new Amex is for Business promo Amex is trying out to replace the Open Savings program that they shutdown. (There’s also a 5-25% off FedEx shipping that’s showing on some cards, not related to disney gift cards but if you ship stuff 25% can go towards your Disney fund! I had the 25% offer on my SPG Biz fwiw.)

I got the staples 10% off offer but not the lowes. Do you know of any cashback click sites that you can go through to get a little bit extra off at Staples? All the ones I checked say they aren't valid for gift cards. Or any cashback sites more likely to honor the % off if a little something else is added to the cart?

I usually check the Frequent Miler Lab for data points - https://frequentmiler.boardingarea.com/laboratory/

Looks like a couple portals might work - maybe UR and Upromise. Glad you asked. I didn't even think about buying online for some reason.

Just a couple of things About the new Amex offers:

1) Amex gets level 3 data from merchants on what you buy. This means they know specifically what you purchase. They have recently started cracking down on people who buy lots of gift cards, in some cases not giving sign up bonuses and in some cases shutting down accounts totally. My suggestion for anyone who has the offer is to not buy a ton of gift cards at one time, or start spending tons of money on the Amex all of a sudden. The idea is not to draw attention from Amex where someone will take a look at your account. The offer is good until mid November, so there is no need to run out to Lowe's or Staples and buy a ton of gift cards at once. You can read more details on the Amex shutdowns at https://milestomemories.boardingarea.com/american-express-has-been-shutting-down-accounts/

2) If you are buying Disney gift cards ONLINE from Staples, there is a $1.99 shipping fee and you may or may not get cashback from a portal. Almost every portal excludes gift cards, but sometimes they go through anyways. However, a word of caution, sometimes when too many people "abuse" these cashback sites they can have their accounts frozen/shutdown and the money taken back as what happened recently with giftcards at Office Depot and people using ebates cashback -you can read about that at https://milestomemories.boardingarea.com/ebates-office-depot-in-store-cashback-clawbacks/ . I use the word "abuse" in quotes because it really should be the cashback portal's responsibility not to award the cashback in the first place but as far as ebates was concerned, they considered it abuse to them.

3) If you have the Staples Amex offer on the Amex SimplyCash Card, you earn 5% cash back at Office Supplies stores so it would be a total of 15% off. However, with the recent Amex crackdowns and the level 3 data that they get, I'm not sure if you still get the extra 5% at Office Supplies stores when purchasing gift cards.

I have a $200 Visa Gift Card that i want to turn in to Disney gft cards to get bit back. Wjat can i do online to get the best deal. I know i can go into bb and use sb which i have done 3 times in the last two weeks. What can i combine the visa card online to get a good deal on a gc and ear points or cash back somehow.

Amex gets level 3 data from SOME merchants. Office Depot and Staples are unfortunately some of those.

While level 3 data and shutdowns are very real with Amex they are mostly related to people meeting minimum spends for bonuses and having the bonuses clawed back and MS activity (as the author points out). Do not purchase gift cards to meet a minimum spend on AMEX cards.

The 5% coding reports appear to be hit or miss (one dp here says they got 5% on 3 out of 4 purchases so it could be an in-transition thing) and some of the earlier reports are reading like user error considering the potential 60 day delay in getting bonus cashback. If you have the offer on that card I'd certainly give it a shot, at minimum you get an extra 1%, at most an extra 5%. https://www.doctorofcredit.com/offi...ng-5-with-amex-simplycash-data-points-needed/

EDIT: Business cards - Thanks @gottalovepluto I forgot to add Business to the post!

I forgot to add Business and corrected my post! Sorry if I confused anyone!

Imho you absolutely won’t beat BB + in-store SB with any online portals.

We've had the SPG card for about 6 months - put on about 1500 a month on it and will continue for the rest of the year I think. So I shouldn't have a problem maxing out the Staple's offer, right, especially if I spread out the purchases per another posters recommendation? I haven't used any SPG Amex offers yet either.
