I thought the below handout may be helpful to some DISers.:)

I am currently at a Springhill Suites in Annapolis. They have a similar program as did a recent Courtyard and Resience Inn. We received points in our frequent traveler account in place of housekeeping. They package it as a “ Green initiative “ There was no mention of needed amenities nor trash removal and there is a maximum of 3 consecutive nights.

Thank you! We have less then 2 weeks now and plan on taking advantage of the new program. I like to keep things tidy all the time anyways, just a extra perk of the GC for some extra Disney snacks for us!

So now they have a name for it :upsidedow This must be a new print out. We never got any print out in Dec, but maybe you only got it if you opted out. The CM at front desk didn’t get entire question out before I was telling him no thanks lol.
Thanks for posting the info, it will be very helpful for those interested, and answer a lot of questions.

Does anyone have any experience with an easy way to get replacement towels/garbage? For example, lets say I empty the trash and put the bag outside of my room before I head out to the parks for the day, do you think they would pick it up/replace the trash bag?

Housekeeping would rather that you not place trash in the halls. If you are using Service your Way, just press the Housekeeping button on your in-room phone and request a trash pickup, more towels or a refresh of other room amenities for example.

I'm interested in doing this as we often cancel housekeeping at most hotels just to keep unknown persons out of our room. My only concern is the length of time I may have to wait to get the towels. How much money do they put on your gift card? We're doing a five night stay, I'd waive service maybe on nights 1-2 and 4..... or is it an all or nothing choice?

OK, thank you for the clarification. I had a feeling it was probably like that. Hmmmm.... now I have to decide $40 is worth getting my own towels and making my own bed. Probably is.

Just an FYI, if you opt out of housekeeping, there will likely still be unknown people in your room. Not sure if you saw other threads about how Disney started a room check policy? Basically a Disney employee will come look around your room daily. We just returned from POR on Sunday and the 2 days we were in our room during the day, someone came to do the room check. If you are doing it for the gift card though, that's a nice bonus. We stayed a week so we got a $60 gift card which is why we did it.

Will they bring fresh sheets as well? I don't mind changing them myself but we are going to be there long enough that I'll want fresh ones....sweaty Florida and all...

I did know about the room checks. Do they leave a note that they have been there? I'd also decline housekeeping for the gift card.
