Also, is there complimentary hot water in the food court for my own tea? Usually I just heat my evening tea water in the coffee makers that come standard in most other hotel rooms, but it doesn't look like Pop has those.

If you get a refurbished room, they have a single serving coffee maker in the room (like a Keurig, but a flat pod machine).

I’m not sure about the rooms that haven’t been refurbished yet, but the room that have been done definitely have a coffee maker!
Sorry! I didn’t see the reply above. :o

You'd think a coffee maker would be an easy add to a room, even an un-refurbished one. In fact, having a coffee maker might make guests stuck in the old rooms feel better about not getting a new room.

We're going in November, so I'm hoping the all the rooms will be done by then.

The elevators are in the same place in all of the buildings so I do think building 10 is probabaly your best bet. It's close to the classic hall, where you'll find the food court and access transportation. Buildings 4 and 5 are also close to food and transportation, but there are fewer standard rooms in those buildings so your chance of getting one doesn't have quite the odds as requesting building 10. Still, it's only a request; there's always a chance you won't get it. It might be too late if your trip is next week, but you could consider switch your reservation to an accessible room. Those are fairly close to the elevator (so you wouldn't be taking a chance of ending up at the end of one of the "wings" of the building) in every building.

My DD usually walks but also sometimes needs a wheelchair. We stayed in building 10 last November and found it very convenient. What I do is rent a wheelchair (Orlando medical rentals) starting on day 1 of our trip. It stays in our room until/if she needs it.

Thank you! Standard room was the only one available when I booked. We will hope for 10 and go from there.

Wow! I wasn't expecting an instantaneous response! Thanks so much!
You're welcome.:)

We just returned from PCMC(Pop Century Medical Center:)lol)----it was our first experience with the new rooms and we had to agree with others that they have a "sterile feel" to them,BUT the new rooms have SO many awesome improvements so it didn't effect our enjoyment of POP at all!:)

Hope you have a POPPIN' good time at POP!:)

We are staying at POP for the first time this summer. We did get a preferred room- but where should we request to be if we wanted to be close to the bus stop?
TIA

Hi everyone! I've searched the thread (and the internet) but can't find any photos.

Does anyone have a photo of a pack and play set up in a refurbished room at POP?

Any idea how many standard rooms (percentage wise) would have a shower instead of a tub? I would prefer a shower if I may put that in my request.

Also which building would be close to parking lot and not too far from the classic hall? Thank you!

There is a new thread that is starting to track which rooms have tubs or showers: https://www.disboards.com/threads/p...shments-tub-or-shower-queens-or-king.3678036/

My favorite building that is close to parking and Classic Hall is building 1 in the 50s. That building is currently being renovated with the new rooms, so getting a new room with a shower only depends upon when your trip is.

Yes, all rooms should be refurbished by November.

Thanks for all the great info in this thread!

I have stayed at Pop before, but our upcoming trip (June 27-July 4) will be the first time with the renovated rooms.

We booked a preferred room. I understand my odds are good at getting a renovated room because most of the preferred rooms have been renovated?

The most important thing to us on this trip is that we get a renovated room. I have to share a bed with my 9-year old and he is an absolute furnace when he sleeps. The further away I can get from him the better! It will be very hot when we are there, so proximity to the hippy dippy pool would be nice. No preferred pool rooms were available when we booked, but I don't think we need to be on top of the pool anyway - just near it. I like the ground floor, but with the laminate floor, I am rethinking that.

Thinking of checking in online soon. What requests would you make?

I am thinking: 60's, ground floor (or 4th floor - still thinking about that). Would you add anything else or just keep it at that?

Being in a preferred room inherently puts you near the Hippy Dippy Pool. The walks to the pool from the preferred rooms in the '50s and '70s section are about the same as they are from the other parts of the '60s section.

That being said, the '50s section isn't done being renovated yet. So I think your requests for '60s building, 4th floor would make the most sense for your situation. Since you can only make two requests on a room, those would be the ones I'd go with.

Any idea if bldg 1 in the 50's will be done by mid-June???
I would not count on this being completed by June. It will quite likely still be closed as they work on the refurbishment.

At this point it appears all Preferred View rooms are either refurbished or closed for refurbishment so you should be able to take that out of your request. All of he preferred rooms are also a reasonable distance from Hippy Dippy so that should be fine too.

Can anyone tell me if there is a lot of gondola construction noise in a lakeview room in bldg 4 or 5? Traveling with my mom & she comes back to the room during the heat of the day to rest & im slightly worried they will keep her up if she is wanting to nap. TIA!

We're in a Lakeview room in building 4, and we don't hear any gondola construction noise when inside the room at all. The mini fridge is actually what I find to be the most annoying sound we hear when taking an afternoon nap

Awesome thank you! That’s my favorite spot to stay so I’m glad to hear that

Coming in early July for a 5 night stay. We are booked in a standard pool view. Can anyone confirm where they are with the 50s section? Will it all most likely be closed for refurbishment early July?
