Disney's POLYNESIAN VILLAGE RESORT Information & Questions

Stayed at the Poly 6 years ago. Just got back from GF and did love it but found myself missing the POLY ambiance. The only thing about the POLY is that we found our room very drab and dated, and dusty even. Supposedly it was renovated (we were in Tokelau) but it seemed run down to us. Thinking of our next trip and wondering any plans for the Poly to renovate rooms? Have any rooms recently been renovated?
Yes they were renovated!

Yes, be aware of the tables for 2 at Ohana which in many cases are just not situated ideally to get an outside view. In spite of what some have said, Ohana is quite an experience for all attending and it is the noise and ambiance that make for a lively event. I say, go for it! Just politely ask for a table with a decent view.

Which buildings have been renovated since I was there in 2012?
All the resort long houses that remained as normal longhouses were renovated beginning in Jan. 2013. Tahiti and Rapa Nui (Moorea and Pago Pago) were not renovated directly as they were included in the new Polynesian Villas & Bungalows work that started during this time period.

The final work ended in March 2015 and as of April 1, all rooms including the DVC Villas were complete including the 20 2 BR Bungalows on the beach.

About the Oasis patios, what constitutes half day vs. full day timeslots? We're debating which one would be more worth it to us because we'd most likely be fitting this in on a party night (we're going in October and planning on MNSSHP).

How long does it take to get to Epcot from Poly?? According to Our Laughing Place, walking to TTC then Monorail will take 39 minutes.... REALLY???!!!

Rates start at $26.36 (including tax) for a half day, with time blocks running from 10am to 2pm and 3pm to 7pm. A full day rental from 10am to 7pm is available for $42.60. Seasonal price adjustments apply.

Just wanted to say it's nice to see you around the DIS @Dave006

I’ll be there on Tuesday and will report back if there’s MB access to the Oasis pool!
Sorry for the delay is responding with an update. I’ve been back home since Sunday. Not sure if this question was answered. Yes, MB access only to the Oasis pool.

A brief update on our stay. It was our first at the Poly. Overall we loved it!! We are staying there again this summer. We did not experience any room checks and spent 2-3 hours each afternoon in our room. My DD has a medical condition. Usually she is completely healthy, at other times she gets quite run down and needs extra rest. She had a flare mid-way through our trip (first half we spent at Pop Century). I explained this at check-in and requested two things: morning housekeeping and not to disturb us in the afternoon. Well, they did an excellent job at the latter. However, there was no morning housekeeping. There was no knock for afternoon housekeeping (even though we saw carts in the hall). There was no security knock (though by day 2, I wish there had been...I would have asked them to send housekeeping in). I called later (3 or 4) both of our first afternoons, as we were headed back out, to request housekeeping visit our room. The first day they did not. So I took out the trash myself. We still had towels so I just let it go. The same thing happened the second day we were there!! We came back to our room at nearly 9 PM to discover no housekeeping. DD desperately needed to get to bed, but we ended up over at the desk instead complaining (we had no towels left and needed to shower). InexplIned what had happened. The manager was very apologetic. She immediately called housekeeping and sent someone directly to our room. While housekeeping was there, she took my DD to Moana Mercantile and let her pick out anything at all in the store and then purchased it for her. My DD was ecstatic. The remainder of our trip we had no housekeeping issues, but that was really ridiculous. I was quite upset. Otherwise great stay there, we loved the pools and had a semi-obstructed view of the fireworks from our Rarotonga (3810) room! That was a nice surprise!!

Sorry about the housekeeping issue, but glad you had a great time and enjoyed the Poly :).

Hey Mickynut1. You might know this..when did the Polynesion rename the long houses? They did quite a name shuffle especially for those of us early guests.

Here is a great graphic from the TikiMan's web site with the names. In 1985 longhouse Maui changed its name to Maori when Pago Pago and Moorea opened. So a couple of changes over the years.

Thanks so much for this information. We first stayed at the Polynesion during the opening in 1971 in what was then Tonga. Many more visits came in succeeding years through 1998 so we always knew the good buildings with the views and usually were able to get rooms there. It was confusing to say the least when we returned in 2012. Wonder what the prevailing wisdom was for all the changes?
