Disney's POP CENTURY RESORT Information & Questions

Hopefully people's conscience won't allow them to do this. Some will, but many will take the higher road and do what is right and not take advantage of this.

Agreed. And it's very possible that the people who got off the buses and went straight to their cars were actually guests of the resort. Some folks drive to the front of the resort from other areas of Pop so that they don't have a walk when they return from the parks.

Just extended the beginning of our trip this month by 4 days. DH and I are going down early to honor and remember my father who passed away Friday morning. My father loved Disney and instilled that love in me and I can not think of a better way to remember him.
Lovely.

Again,I'm wondering this also! What prevents people from doing just that? these are the places with huge lots, and not much oversight (at least not last time we parked there which was quite a while ago)

Unfortunately, having circled the Boardwalk Resort parking lot many times, looking for a space when we're staying there, and then seeing how it empties out after Epcot closes, doesn't give me the same confidence in people's consciences that you might have. It's a longstanding problem, and it's likely to worsen with this new policy, unless Disney puts some kind of definite controls on it (show a receipt for a meal or a certain level of purchase at a store, or else pay for parking, maybe?).

Sorry, wait until the gondola opens to see the effect on parking at Pop and AoA.

Yes, really. For the same reasons you mentioned.

Your best bet would be Uber or Minnie Van. You'll have no problem getting to MK early but no guarantee the monorail or boats are running. It'll depend on MKs opening time that day. There is no bus to/from MK and any monorail resorts.

Thanks! I thought it was so odd when I read that on the Disney website and figured they had to run earlier than that from POP. We'll probably end up taking the Minnie Van for ease. Thanks!

This is exactly why I assumed that’s what was happening when I saw all the people getting off the buses and going to their cars. When we stayed at the Boardwalk it was so bad we actually paid to valet the last 2 nights because we were wasting so much time trying to find parking!

We stayed at Pop this past Sept. At check in, we were asked if we wanted to opt out house keeping and would get a credit in lieu of. Are they still offering this?

Yes, $10/night minus one night of your stay. I'm pretty sure this is now standard at value and moderate resorts and no longer a trial offer.

By the time the gondola is up and running, I fully expect day visitors will be paying to park at resorts unless they get validation for spending a particular amount shopping or dining. That day is coming and coming fast.

Sadly most people don't care that what they are doing to "Cheat" the system inconveniences others - so long as they get their way they act as they wish.

Are the room doors magnetic? Are we allowed to decorate our door during our stay?

Just a heads up though that all doors are outside so subject to the weather, especially during Florida's rainy season. During the hot, humid weather they can also get a wet film on them due to the humidity. Just things to consider if making/bringing door decorations. You will find more people tend to decorate the inside of their windows rather than the actual doors. This quick search shows many examples.

I hope you’re right! It’s frustrating not to be able to find a parking spot at the resort you’re staying at!

Could anyone fill me in on your bus experiences at POP? We're planning our next trip and are pretty sure that's where we'll stay. Our last trip last August was at CBR and the bus service in the mornings was way worse than we've ever experienced (buses not showing up for an EMH day until after EMH started, buses for parks not starting an hour before opening, instead starting about 30 min before open). We ended up using Lyft each day. I'm really hoping we'll have a better experience at POP. Please reassure me!

The buses are the buses no matter where you stay. You are going to have great, terrible and in between service everywhere. There is no resort that has consistently better or worse service than another. They are all dispatched from a central location as needed. No resort has buses dedicated just for it.

Just a subjective experience here; I find the buses at Pop tend to do better than a lot of the moderates/deluxes esp. during morning hours (opening) and park closing hours. Now, I've have poor service once in a great while, but they seem to run more buses just because Pop bus stops seem busier.

Agree! We are coming up on our 8th stay at Pop and, overall, the busses are spot on. Yes, you have to wait from time to time and the stops are far away at the parks....but not horrible! I can't see staying elsewhere!

We've stayed at many resorts and we've always had the quickest, most efficient bus service at Pop. :)
