Winging it with No Dinning Plan! A Feb. Trip Report

Andy snapped a picture of us all loaded in.
Love this photo! :thumbsup2

I also told her how the crown is placed on her head if you look at it just right!
I don't think I ever noticed that - thanks!

I ordered a Nutella and Fruit Waffle
Yum, I had this for the first time last August - I'll be getting it again in May for sure ::yes::

Sounds like a great start to your day! I hope Morgan continues to feel better :goodvibes

Cute photos from Space Mountain! And the girls look so adorable trying to pull out the sword in the stone!

The food from Sleep Hollow looks delicious! I still haven't eaten anything from there!

AND we are going to go to Disneyland!!!!
AAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! That is amazing news!!! I love that you're going to be able to give the girls SUCH a big surprise, and it's close enough where keeping it a secret won't destroy you in the meantime :)

Love her faces :) This will be awesome to recreate when she's bigger LOL

I have been wanting that Nutella waffle for the past 3 trips and for some reason or another it just never happens. Had one when they first came out and still think about it. It is, again, on next trips "must do" which will most likely be next February.

As we were walking over, Morgan noticed the Palm Trees. She said she never noticed them before.

I love these trees!

We had a whole conversation about why the future has no real trees. We all agreed that the future should be lush with greens not all metal but I guess if you are in space, there might not be oxygen?!?

Sparks an interesting conversation! I guess this is just a reminder of why it's so important to take care of our environment and support conservation efforts!

We got the left side, orange side. Which I personally like better. We discussed which side we liked better while we were waiting. I assume the sides are slightly different, but I don't really know. Anyone know for sure?

Nathan is convinced that they're very different. I forget which side he prefers though. I'm not sure even he remembers.

I told Andy about how the Paris Disney had Ursala's head fell off. now that is all I can see when we go in that room!

I heard about this, too! It looked so creepy! I thought of it on our last trip, too.

I ordered a Nutella and Fruit Waffle and a Funnel Cake with Strawberries (no whip cream) And a water.

Yummm!

Hi Everyone! I have been busy reading up on Disneyland and what else we want to do while in California. I am trying to keep a good balance between knowing what we want to do and what there is to keep us from wondering around aimlessly and miss some stuff. But also I do want to keep it open in our plans. I booked us World of Color Dessert Package. Did you know they give you tables and chairs for it!!! I was sold on that alone!

Andy and I both went to Syracuse University, so Dh is sitting on the couch watching the NCAA tournament game as I type. We bleed orange! Go SU! @ArielSRL is all about Georgia, so she knows!

Day One: No Dancing in Disney

I left us off finishing up at Sleepy Hallow. We were coming up on our first fast pass of the day, Tomorrowland Speedway and the girls were ITCHING to do this. So, we decided to head back over that way. It was about 11:10 and our fastness for the Speedway was 11:35.

As we were cutting through the hub we found the Move It, Shake It Parade doing the dance party there. I tried to get the girls to dance it up... nope.... not even a little....
they had one goal in mind... Tomorrowland Speedway...

So, I snapped a few pics of my favorite characters in the parade as we cut through.

Sometimes, my girls are no fun. :(

We continued on, since the girls were not having any part of the dance party.... And of course we made it over there before our window opened up. So, we took a spin on the People Mover.

People Mover was great as always. there was no line when we got there, and **spoiler alert** it might have been the only time we saw it without a line!

After our ride around Tomorrowland, we headed to the Speedway. FINALLY! We scanned out bands and headed into the line. We only waited a mixture of two before we were sent to a line.

A little Daddy and Morgan Selfie.... (One day he is going to be SUPER embarrassing to her!)

And then me and Gwen went in the other car.

This one is a Video of Gwen Driving. I will admit, it isn't super exciting, but you can see Gwen's concentration while she is driving. You can also hear the "announcer" in the back round. IT made me think how cool would it be if a) you could actually hear what the guy is saying and b) if they could sinc it up with your magic bands and have it saying things like Gwen is coming around the bend, Morgan is in the lead... that kind of stuff. I need to be an imagineer!

I tried snapping a photo of Morgan and Andy from afar, but it's kind of hard to see them...

While we were waiting to pull up to the load/unload area, I snapped a few pictures of our underage driver.

Man do these girls love this ride! They wanted to ride again but the wait was a little too long for my liking. So we convinced them to move on. And that we would try and ride it again.

Morgan and I tried to make the Driver's License but I thought i could pay with my magic band, but apparently all that did was put it on our Photo Pass account that we didn't pay for or plan on doing. :( And I didn't realize it didn't work, so we didn't try to do Gwen. Oh well. Another time.

We moved on after failing at making drivers license and started to head towards our next fastness, We didn't get very far, before I said we needed a pit stop! I wanted to try the Cheshire Cat's Tail. I knew Morgan would love it. I asked if the girls wanted one, and they said no. But I ordered one anyway. Along with a Strawberry Lemonade Frosty.

The Cheshire Cat's Tail was good. Nothing amazing but good. It was served to us slightly warm which was nice. The 4 of us split the one, which was fine as we had just had nutella waffle and funnel cake not too long ago.

We grabbed a table and ate our snack. I am pretty sure I pulled out some salty snack from my bag for Gwen. And we all used the bathroom that was right there before moving on. The tables there are super cute but not super comfortable. So, we didn't hang out too long. We did talk about what to do next. We had Fast Passes for Big Thunder Mountain at 1:40, so we talked about going to Tom Sawyer Island in the mean time. (It was about 12:00 now)

So, we got moving and headed that way. Andy decided he wanted to FINALLY try a Turkey Leg since it was lunch time and we were headed towards Frontierland. So, once we got over there, we looked for it at the cart that it used to be at. But it is no longer sold there. So, I pulled out my phone and looked on the app to see where it was now. I found out that we passed it over by Liberty Square. So, we back tracked over to Liberty Square Market.

Andy got in line to get a Turkey Leg and the girls were getting crabby that we stopped yet again to eat food. We sat on the wall and waited for Andy. While we were waiting Morgan asked for a Soft Pretzel, luckily, I was able to text Andy before he got to the front to order. So, he was able to get Morgan a Soft Pretzel with Cheese.

We grabbed a bench right across from the barracks and ate our food.

I think the "real" food helped her mood. (Does a soft pretzel count as real food?)

Andy dug into the Turkey Leg. There is no good way to eat this thing!

Seriously, no easy way to eat it... Actually I might not even be eating it. I think I might of just pretended to be eating it. So, what did we think of the turkey leg..... MEH It was ok, way too salty for our liking and super messy to eat. Andy LOVED the pork shank that they had at Gaston's Tavern back in the day. And that was SOOOO much better. So, sad they got rid of the Pork Shank.

I had asked Gwen if she wanted a hot dog or something, but she declined. So, she had one of the Pringles packs that I had packed and had ordered from Garden Grocer. She was happier to eat them than she looks in this picture. She was on the verge of Hangry Gwen at this point. She also ate some of Morgan's pretzel and a few pieces of the Turkey that helped her mood.

Morgan popped another Kids Ziacam. And I probably asked her for the millionth time if she felt ok. Which I got the "Mom, stop asking me look". So, I took it as a good thing. So, far so good, on Morgan feeling ok. Yeah.

We watched a bunch of folks take pictures in the barracks, and the girls wanted to do the same. So, after we finished eating, we did just that.

This picture just highlights how tall Morgan has gotten! Sigh, have I mentioned she is going to be 10!!!!

Gwen wasn't tall enough, so I tried to proper her up.

That didn't work so well....

So, she was demoted to the baby one... She is actually happy to try both out. I actually told her to look sad for the photo. Pretty good, huh?

We filled up our water bottles at the water fountain right in that area and then headed out. Morgan and Gwen got these Vera Bradley backpacks over the summer and were super helpful in Disney. They could carry there own jackets and water bottle. (well most of the time) But while filling up water bottles Morgan left her back pack on the ground. Thankfully I was right next to her when she did it. And noticed before we left the area.

Andy snapped this picture as we headed out. He said it should have the hashtag #girlsquadgoals Also, you can see that the girls were in better moods after eating some "real" food.

Would we make it to Tom Sawyer Island? Would we find MORE food to eat and torcure our children with?

I’m so excited for you guys to go to DisneyLand!!! How much fun! You’ll be early for PixarFest, which is too bad cause that looks cool, but it’s still gonna be a blast. Are you planning to stay on site? I feel like Walt is more present in DL, but I’ve never been to confirm that theory. I’m jealous!!
I will let you know! I was bummed that we are missing Pixar Place but we will still have plenty to do!

This relaxing MK morning is the stuff of my DH’s dreams! Walking past long lines, meandering through the lands, avoiding the crowds; he’d be in heaven!
Since we had the two trips so close together, we def felt like we could stop and smell the roses this trip. It was def nice to kind of chill this morning. You should try it one of your days... Maybe you can win him over a little more to the Disney-Side.

And Sleepy Hollow! It’s on my list for breakfast stops for our trip! I’m not a huge Nutella fan, but that waffle looked gooooood! Maybe I’ll ask for whipped cream instead of Nutella, considering you said they were being a bit overly generous with it, lol!
I think you can get the waffle with the strawberries that they put on the funnel cake instead. And the Strawberries were really good as well. Now that I think about it, Nutella and those strawberries would be good together. Def try some version of it!

I don't think I ever noticed that - thanks!
I had read or heard about it somewhere, they designed it so, that little kids looking up at Cinderella would see the crown on her head and adults wouldn't. Kind of a kids only kind of thing. Which I think is also why Gwen likes it so much.

The food from Sleep Hollow looks delicious! I still haven't eaten anything from there!
It's easy to skip by but def worth the stop!

That is amazing news!!! I love that you're going to be able to give the girls SUCH a big surprise, and it's close enough where keeping it a secret won't destroy you in the meantime :)
Right. I am kind of dyeing to tell them now! We are debating how best to tell them. We will be gone over Easter, so the Easter bunny won't be coming. So, I have to figure that out as well. I am thinking of putting together there Easter Baskets on Wednesday Night before we leave. And have it from the Easter bunny with travel stuff and a sign saying we are going to Disneyland.

Love her faces :)
It's my lock screen on my phone right now.

I have been wanting that Nutella waffle for the past 3 trips and for some reason or another it just never happens. Had one when they first came out and still think about it. It is, again, on next trips "must do" which will most likely be next February.
Def! It is really good and worth the stop. For sure.

Sparks an interesting conversation! I guess this is just a reminder of why it's so important to take care of our environment and support conservation efforts!
Pretty much. I thought it was interesting the the image of the future would be not lush back then, and we seem to be moving back towards that.

Nathan is convinced that they're very different. I forget which side he prefers though. I'm not sure even he remembers.
I think they would have to be different, I mean they run through each other, So, I can't image they are the same. WE seemed to get the right side a bunch of a times, so the left was new to us.

Hello! I've lurked all your previous trip reports and loved them, sorry I'm lurky like that! But I wanted to comment on your DL trip as I've been (just once though) and loved it.

DL is great because you can be more go with the flow than WDW. We only had one reservation (and this was a race weekend), and we were able to eat everywhere we wanted with no wait! Loved Carthay Circle, very disappointed in Blue Bayou.

WOC is amazing!!!! You'll love it! Glad you got a dessert package. We ended up doing it twice because the first night we queued up in the regular area and couldn't see a thing, I cried I was so sad. Next night we did the reserved dinning area and it took my breath away! All the Disney feels! I cried again, but happy tears this time. Lol.

I would also recommend looking up the "wide right" strategy for rope dropping Radiator Springs Racers. We were among the first people on the ride! Request the front row, especially for your girls so that they can see better!

Other than that, enjoy!!! I love WDW, but it's so cool to be in Walt's park!

Cute pics on the People Mover!

The girls love the Tomorrowland Speedway! I don't think I've ever been on it!

Yummy looking snacks from Chesire Cafe!

I absolutely love that last photo of the 3 of you! #girlsquadgoals indeed!

I love your shirts!

Oooh that's a great idea! They should be doing something like this! Why aren't you working for Disney?? :P

Along with a Strawberry Lemonade Frosty.

Yum. Getting frozen lemonades at the magic kingdom is one of my favourite pastimes.

the girls were getting crabby that we stopped yet again to eat food.

I relate to this very much.

Girl Squad
Andy snapped this picture as we headed out. He said it should have the hashtag #girlsquadgoals

What a great photo! Squad goals for sure!

Following along! We will be gone over Easter and are making the easterbaskets the Wednesday before as well. I love the tinker bell gifts! May have to use that!

OMG, that would be very cool!

The girls will love Autopia at Disneyland! It's better themed, and the cars are fancier. Unfortunately no fastpasses anymore (they used to have it, but I don't remember when they disappeared).

Hello! I've lurked all your previous trip reports and loved them, sorry I'm lurky like that! But I wanted to comment on your DL trip as I've been (just once though) and loved it.
Thanks for coming out of lurkdom for some tips! I used to be a lurker as well! So, I get it.

Lol.
This is exactly what I am trying to avoid. I am not tall, and one trip we just happened to be there on the first night of Elsa lighting up the castle. And of course it was PACKED. I didn't see any of it and didn't see how big Olaf was until we got back to the room and watched a uTube video. HA!

I would also recommend looking up the "wide right" strategy for rope dropping Radiator Springs Racers. We were among the first people on the ride! Request the front row, especially for your girls so that they can see better!
I will def check that out!!!

Loving your report, we are headed to DWD in May, we only have one ADR. I’m so looking forward to this!
Not having all of the ADR's def lets' you go where you want when you want. We did have 3 ADR's this trip.

The girls love the Tomorrowland Speedway! I don't think I've ever been on it!
As an adult, it really isn't fun. But seeing how much fun they have had on it the last 2 trips, does make me want them to keep it know. I just know that they can and NEED to refurbish the whole thing!

I absolutely love that last photo of the 3 of you! #girlsquadgoals indeed!
Thanks! I didn't even know he took the picture to later one. We always get better candids of our family.

I love your shirts!
Thanks. I grabbed them at the Disney Store over Christmas.

They should be doing something like this! Why aren't you working for Disney?? :P
I am sure there is some poor Disney Imaganeer who has good ideas for this attraction and just hasn't gotten them approved.

Following along! We will be gone over Easter and are making the easterbaskets the Wednesday before as well. I love the tinker bell gifts! May have to use that!
What are you putting in yours? I ordered a few things this week. Since this is our first really long plan ride, I got some cute neck pillows for the girls and new headphones, as they have kid ones that only go so loud, and on airplanes, I don't think they can hear anything.

Tinkerbell Gifts started out as a way for me to get the girls to not want to buy every $60 Princess Dress they had in the parks. They have evolved over time.

YOU SHOULD!!! THIS is an awesome idea!! Jimmy LOVES the Tomorrowland Speedway, but that would make it even more exciting!
It is def a ride for the kids. I just wish it didn't smell so bad!!!!

The girls will love Autopia at Disneyland! It's better themed, and the cars are fancier. Unfortunately no fastpasses anymore (they used to have it, but I don't remember when they disappeared).
Thanks!!!! Good to know. We will have to hit that up one of the mornings! The map makes it look much longer than tomorrowland speedway.

Morgan noticed the Palm Trees. She said she never noticed them before.
Very cool! Another thing I'll try to point out to our crew.

They had the screens up and showing the SUPER old picture of the family riding space mountain. It looks like it is from when the ride first opened. And then they had this logo. I think it would make a cool shirt.
It would! I love the Disney World logos from around the 1980's.

Andy snapped a picture of us all loaded in.
Worth it, and I hope I remember to do this too.

we found the Move It, Shake It Parade doing the dance party there. I tried to get the girls to dance it up... nope.... not even a little....
HAhaha! SAME THING happened to us a few years ago. We happened to cross paths with this parade (which I'd researched and decided I was way too cool for), and all of the sudden I was like WOOHOO! and tried to get our 6-year-old cousin to watch and dance. To my surprise she refused, and we ended up taking a picture of her half hugging, half leaning against a garbage can on Main Street and glaring at me. Ah, memories! :rotfl2:

I need to be an imagineer!
You should! For now, you're a Disney TRIP Imagineer! :cutie:

Andy and I both went to Syracuse University
No way! I went to LeMoyne right next door! :thumbsup2

A little Daddy and Morgan Selfie.... (One day he is going to be SUPER embarrassing to her!)
:rotfl2:

b) if they could sinc it up with your magic bands and have it saying things like Gwen is coming around the bend, Morgan is in the lead... that kind of stuff. I need to be an imagineer!
That would be awesome! Yes, you need to be an Imagineer! :thumbsup2

I wanted to try the Cheshire Cat's Tail.
I need to try this, I never have before.

He said it should have the hashtag #girlsquadgoals
YES!!! :thumbsup2

My girls never want to do the Speedway. We hit it probably every other to every third trip. It's the smell that gets them I think. Love the girl squad goal picture!!!!
