Chicago Cubs fans - Rebuilding Year 2023

YU IN?

I don’t mind it. It can work. It works on many levels. A Mission is what I presume is the intent. A Poker game ante is what I can’t help but think of. And then I digress to think of “check” and “fold” (which Cards fans should seize upon) and online poker’s “check/fold” which means you’re “out” the moment it gets hairy.

lol...my summer brain thought of pool party when I saw it. Probably a survival mechanism to get thru the rest of winter, lol. I like the Card's check and fold analogy. Jason Motte and Dex are the only things that keep me from wanting to see that team just get destroyed this season.

For the mound visits: yes, it’s gonna be hard. That loophole sounds great though with the substitutions not counting against the 6.

it beats an earpiece to the catcher and pitcher from coaches. Though the nfl does it for the q.b. It would stink in baseball and degenerate quickly.

: ) I was thinking Cards fans would make fun of the Cubs by wearing fake Cubs shirts that say “OUT” or “FOLD”.

It will be interesting to see if more dugout communication starts happening. I know Lester , a LOT of pitcher's like to be left alone and keep their zone going , but these changes may force them to have a few pow wow's with their catcher's during that time. I think there may be some issues. Add in Joe/dugout being so much further down than before for signs/yelling now as well. I know it can be that far in other parks, but much like the bullpen adjustment, I think this there will be some hiccups.(not to mention still getting to know the new coaching staff)

So..each day that goes by with no Jake news leads me more and more to him going to the Nat's. I might *almost* want him to go to the Brewers lol. Seems like a LOT of Nat's players are Boras clients.:rolleyes2

Just saw this one. https://www.cubshq.com/update/Cubs-reportedly-tried-to-trade-Addison-Russell-24272

And then there was this one. http://www.12up.com/posts/5981231-c...mendations&unit_version=cards&item_position=0

Plus this one. http://www.12up.com/posts/5981454-cubs-trying-out-two-players-at-first-base-to-help-anthony-rizzo-get-rest?a_aid=40920&_ke=YmN2bWlubmllQGJlbGxzb3V0aC5uZXQ=[/QUOTE

If Theo & Co really want Barfer~Addie & probs AAJ will be gone.Being a Boras client cant be helping Addie. Cubs have KB's contract to worry about:rolleyes1 all I know is Theo somehow kept the core together AND we have 2 draft picks from Davis/Arrieta. Happ/Zobie maked sense esp with the bunting attack/legal 2nd baseman. Zobie aready experiencing back issues. Guess it helps a croedrd team if he is "rested" here and there.

I grabbed a pair for the Opener (my partners have our seats) and a pair for the game against the Cards right after the All Star break.

can hardly call that an ASB, right? :sad2: I'm trying to coodinate bodies for the game I was given for Christmas. Part of me is holding out to see projected pitching, injuries. WEATHER etc. Most of the time things are way more fun for me when I wing it, lol.

Came here to post this and got distracted by game sales, lol

Willson Contreras isn't deterred by new mound visit rule: "What about if you have a tight game & you have to go out there? They can't say anything about that, that's my team & we just care about wins. If they're gonna fine me about number 7 mound visit, I'll pay the price." #Cubs

pretty sure most catcher's will be doing this. May see a record number of ejections this season.

Me thinks the Cubs should carry their usual 3 catcher's:rolleyes1

ETA Video of Willson~ (who just put himself in the bullseye for Joe West/ Umps) Here's hoping he and Yu/Chatwood bond really well and really quickly.

I bought 3 games with close to the rail seats for my kids in the upper deck. Otherwise usually I like to wait for the day-of or day before. Prices can really drop in the hour before if you’re willing to wait.

so I missed this part of the new rules:

When a team is preparing for a bunt, often the first baseman goes out to the mound for a few seconds to make sure the pitcher knows the plan. Anthony Rizzo, for instance, likes to make a running charge towards the hitter on bunts, and will let the pitcher know so he won’t be surprised. Or perhaps they’ll confirm if a wheel play is on.

That’s no longer going to happen, unless teams want to waste a “visit” on it.

“I had a job when I was a first baseman to go tell the pitcher during bunt plays what was the case,” Torre said. “You have to do it a different way now, unless you want to invest a trip to the mound every time you have a pitch thrown with a bunt in order, or else you’ll eat them all up. It’s just going to be a different way to do it.”

Rizzo can still charge in, but he’ll have to let the pitcher know some other way.

maybe I am the minority but games cost a LOT and I'm good with it being 4 hours as I love every minute of it. My bigger issue is the lack of frequency of trains from Union after 10 pm, lol
