Pop Century Room Renovations

Since a lot of the recent reviews of the renovated rooms mention a layer of black dust on the laminate floors...I figured I'd pick up a pack of wet sweeper cloth refills at the dollar store today. Easily fits in my backpack or carry-on, and there are 10 in a pack, enough for our 6 night trip. Will take a minute to wipe down the floor using my foot, the whole pack only cost a dollar, and I still plan on taking advantage of declining Mousekeeping for a $50 GC.

Of course, now I won't get a renovated room when I check in on Sunday. ha!
Smart idea! I'm planning to decline cleaning as well so maybe I'll borrow your idea!

If I can get a confirmation that every guest in my assigned building opts out of mousekeeping during my stay...I can certainly moonlight as a mousekeeper for some extra dough. Of course, Disney might take that literally and decide to pay me in churros. But might that be worth it, depending on the exchange rate????

You can come and clean my room if you promise not to wake me before 11 am. I am OK with a late cleaning if you want to do it after the parks close. :duck:

Just checked in, got a new room (3 for 3 now) but my in room safe isn’t working so I’m waiting for maintenance. Not a good time for a wonky safe, when they will be visiting the room daily.

ETA Wonky safe now working properly! They had to reset the code because the previous guest opened the door, put in a code, and the bolt thingies locked in the out position, so the door wouldn’t close.

All three have been in building 7. Different areas of 7, but all in 7. Fortunately I like 7, but when I make my request I tell them I don’t care what building or floor - I just want a new room. I book standard view, and once I got upgraded to a pool view. The other two were kind of garden view.

I was the previous guest who locked your safe in the open position. It was my excuse, along with the daily check ruse, to enter your room before 11am in either a Sully costume or a Vader costume.

"Luke, I AM your father. And take these mini soaps and start washing behind your ears. "

Do you take requests? If I am going to be disturbed early, I want it to be Pluto!

It’s the new super exclusive meet and greet!

The new door tags were a little confusing for maintenance. Apparently maintenance won’t knock if the sign is up, even though I was told I had to be in the room for them to work on the safe and figured a Room Occupied sign would let them know I was here. They called and told me the maintenance person was waiting outside my door to come in because of the sign.

So, you've already found a way to combat the daily room entrance and check procedure. Just call in with some maintenance request, hang the sign up, and leave! LOL....

My DD is there now and she said the room seems really loud. Has that been the case for others that have stayed there?

Is it the floor?
I'm confused by your question.

Where you go in and out of the bathroom by the bed, the floor is worn with a very noticeable traffic pattern and a board near the threshold of the bedroom/bathroom is slightly warped.

I'm sorry. When I read your post I misread it as "the room in building 7 is already showing wear" It is terrible that the floor is wearing so quickly. They may end up needing to replace all the floors with a better grade flooring. Or, maybe they will have to place some type of carpet runner in that area of the room. It really is a shame.

Renovated rooms part 2. Can I get a refurbished room, but one of the newly renovated ones with the floor runner? LOL.

Other than the jet engine toilets and oblivious guests letting their children run down the halls screaming at 7:30 am, we have found it quiet.

I had a standard booked in December, called a few weeks out added the request, and online did 70's as only request. When I arrived it was 10am so I took the chance to go to front desk and although room wasn't ready I had a new one assigned already. I have preferred in April and hope for the same luck. I would be happy just being at the other end of the same building as last time TBH - although that lake view each morning was nice.
