How much is your 2018 Disney trip going to cost?

Splitting with my friend February 12-16 2018: $527PP for 4 nights at ASMu and 3 day base tickets.
Paying OOP and only eating QS.
Add another $148 for RT air fare.

Splitting with my sister December 7-11 2018: $693PP for 4 nights at POP, 2 day PH, free QSDP upgraded to DDP.
Airfare has not yet come out.
We also plan on going to MVMCP but dates/tickets are not out yet.

We (Me and DH) have a trip coming up at the end of the month. We banked a bunch of credit card points while paying for our wedding this past fall, so we are using them for a lot of costs.

Hotel: 5 nights at the Dolphin on points, ~$158 for resort fees; retail is $2000 but without points we would have stayed at Pop for around $650
Tickets: APs, we budgeted for them over our two planned trips in 2017, and this is our 4th trip with them, so no cost applied; otherwise 5 day PHs are $948
Flights: Using SW points and Companion Pass, so $22 for taxes/fees; retail is $376
Food/Souvenirs: $650/$150 estimated as we haven't decided where all we want to eat, so this could go up; I earn some free/discounted gift cards via survey sites and credit card deals, so we will pay these costs via gift card. My current stash is around $1000 and I paid about $450 OOP for that. I also used credit card points to get a $50 Landry's GC for Yak n Yeti.

Total OOP - $540 assuming $800 in food/souv at 45% of face value
Retail - $4124
Would have spent without points/discounted GCs - $1826 (staying at Pop)

We could have managed the $1800ish OOP, and we had decided about 6 months ago we would take this last trip with our APs if possible, but seeing how survey sites/deal chasing/splitting wedding payments on a few credit cards really cut costs makes that stuff really feel worth it.

We also are planning a few days at DLR in April, but don't have that figured out yet.

Three adults, one child....9 nights at Value, park hoppers and dining plan, plus one free water park day.....$ 4700.

This yr I decided to rent points and I feel I saved a good bit.
We are driving down 2 nights before we check into our Disney resorts, 1st night will be late, then we have 3 night in VGF and 4 in Poly Villas, I am adding 6 day tix and Disney dining plan
Sept 2018
Drury Inn 2 nights $270 (includes hot breakfast and afternoon snack and drinks)
Disney Lodging 7 nights $2178
DDP for 7 nights $ 1106
Tix 6 days $830
Figured I would spend $125 in food before our Disney resorts
Figured on $125 or less on OOP QS Breakfast
Maybe $225 in tips for meals
$70 in gas my car gets excellent gas mileage I can drive from home to Disney on full tank
Grand Total=$4929

So, we are leaving next Friday.

Driving down - 3 adults and 2 toddlers

Gas - about $300
Overnight on the drive - free on points
Boardwalk Villas - 7 nights - DVC member - so dues and buy in about $600.
(Just for this set of points)
Tickets 2 annual passes out of my stash that I bought when they were much cheaper and several days off a 10 day non expiry ticket - so maybe $700 in allocated ticket costs.
Food going and returning - maybe $100.
Food while at Disney - $800 approx. Will use gift cards already obtained from various sources at discounted prices. so far, no ADR's but we will do maybe 2 sit downs - one for breakfast and one for dinner. We will also have breakfast food brought with us for the villa as well as snacks and water.
Flights - family - 2 adults and 2 toddlers will fly home on 5th day. Free on my points.
Souvenirs - ??? - no idea - we don't do much souvenir buying but could buy a few hundred dollars worth. Have more gift cards.

So, maybe $400 out of pocket on the actual trip.

Actual cost paid considering timeshare, discounts and discounted gift card prices approximately $2200.

Approximate value if paying out of pocket with no points and gift cards - close to $5000.

Then in November, we go again in a larger villa with more people for 7 more nights....and it will cost more out of pocket. I'm estimating about $3000 but will get this number down as I collect more gift cards and other points. The value of the November trip will be about $6000.

I should add that having our own vehicle and knowing our way around and where to go to eat that is NOT Disney does save us money also as far as food goes. Three adults and two toddlers can easily have a decent sit down dinner meal for $100 if you go out the gate and around the corner.

Family of 5 all Disney adults:

RT air $1692.00

Split stay BC and Poly standard room with 5 day park hopper (plus a free + option):
$3838.80 (5 nights at BC with the 5 day park hopper)
$1949.05 (5 nights at Poly)

Airport parking will probably be close to $200.

Food: I think I am going to average $60/meal so $120/day for the 5 of us so around $1600-which I already have between the Disney visa rewards and lots of free gift cards I have earned. This includes our refillable mugs and snacks and eating at WCC and possibly 50s prime time. We do not buy soda in the parks and mainly eat counter service. I am hoping less though. My girls will easily eat Mac and cheese cups on 2 pool days so right there that is $1.00 meal between them if I get the 4 pack for 2 for $4.

Add about $100 for groceries-water, breakfast stuff that we eat in the room.

My kids have some gift cards to spend. I don’t spend more then $100 on crap-an ornament, a mug maybe or a cup and a pen or two....maybe a purse, but I end up saying no because I don’t want to spend the money.

Oh and probably $25 for baggage on the way down for sun screen and shampoo.

My 2018 trips are pretty low cost because it’s just me.

February-
$390 4 nights at POFQ (splitting the room with my sister)
Flight- $11, flying Southwest with miles
Ticket- $0, AP
Food- I have $300 in Disney gc bought for $270. I pack my own breakfast.

April-
$450 ish 5 nights at All Star with AP discount
Flight- $11 with SW points
Ticket- $0
Food- TBD

My 2017 trip was about $6000 for a family of 5 at POR proffered room 8d/7n with 8 day hoppers for 3 people and lots of dining. Flights were on points.

I would think not unless they have a free dining offer.

Didn't do the dining plan this year. This is our 7th trip and we've always done dining. Might end up regreting but we always end up with TONS of extra meals and snacks and scramble to use them. Gonna try to keep with with what we spend oop to see what it cost or saves us.

Dining would cost us:
$3,674.55 for Quick Service
$5,284.15 for Disney Dining

Thanks Judique :) I will try that. Just seemed to easy! Oh well...........................

You can always call Disney Ticketing to ask them any questions in advance. This number is available somewhere on these boards. I did try to find it but got distracted by lunch!

I think you will see a significant reduction in your cost for dining.
When they first started offering dining plan to Disney Vacation Club, I used it maybe 5-6 times and we had a group of 5 most trips. After the first 3-4 days, we just didn't want to sit down and eat anymore. And, when we first got it, it included appetizer and dessert. I can still remember all the boxed desserts lined up in our fridge and tossing them when we were leaving, plus the large bag of treats we took home using the snack credit - those days you could get all sorts of things, like a box of donuts at BWV in resort shop, etc, so it was possible to do a lot of sharing. The plan cost at that first going out time was about $30 a person - give or take a dollar, and it wasn't that long ago. For the DDP, with sit downs. I've never used the quick service plan.

2br for a week at OKW = $1776 (cost of our dues; paid for points in cash when we bought DVC)

Annual passes = free (sort of...used them for one trip already)

Airfare = $1200

Food = approximately $2500 Less 20% = $2000 with Tables In Wonderland

Photo pass = free (sort of...included in AP)

Souvenirs = approximately $100

Really all we are paying for is food and airfare.

"Peak Time" Trip- 2 adults, 2 kids, & an infant

Travel Expenses: $401.48, saved $143.52
*This does not count snacks on road trip, as I will use my grocery budget to pick up stuff before hand)
  • Gas: $200 for $250 worth of gas cards (saved $50 by gas card discounts through Publix)
  • Lunch: Zaxby's Paid $52.50 for $75 in gift cards, saved 22.50
  • Dinner/Souvenirs (plus probably a breakfast/lunch/snack at Yak Yeti): Trex Restaurant $109 (Paid 84 for 120 worth of gift cards, will also join Landry's Select, add birthday and get $50 for $25, meaning we will have 170 to put towards food at Trex, Yak and Yeti QS lunch or breakfast, and gift shops)
  • Dessert/Snack: Ghirardelli-$39.98 for $50 in gift cards, saved 10.02)
7 Nights Lodging: $1892.10, saved $1270.86 (breaks down to $270.30 a night for 5 nights deluxe, 2 nights moderate)
  • 2 Nights POR-Riverside Royal Guest Room- $690.12, (saved 65.88 from gc deals)
  • 5 Nights Poly- $1890.00 (saved 1204.98 by booking DVC Points)
Theme Park Tickets/Memory Maker: $1846.05, saved $261.27
  • 6 Day Park Hoppers: $1721.09 (saved $217.23 black friday deal)
  • Memory Maker: $124.96 (originally 169, saved $44.04 by booking early and gift card deals)
Disney World Food: $2589.96, saved $85.04
  • Deluxe Dining Plan (only for Poly): $1630 (no savings since I had to pay through DVC without gc deals)
  • Estimated Tips: $479.98 ($500, saved $20.02 through gc deals. -I budgeted high, since we are eating mostly at signature restaurants, anything left over will be used on souvenirs checkout day)
  • To be Determined, Estimated $500 with $20.02 gift card savings so $479.98: Epcot Flower and Garden Dining Booths and possible a Dessert Party
  • POR Food Court: Free (probably only 1 meal or some snacks, free because I have $45 gift cards I earned from Christmas purchase rebates)
* At this time I am not counting additional souvenir spending because I will likely use my credit card points (free gift cards).

Total: $6729.59, saved $1760.69

Our last big Disney Trip was Christmas 2015 (we went to one Halloween Party in between then and this trip). This is a "splurge" for us, given we are trying the Deluxe Dining Plan for the first time (yes, I did crunch numbers) and we are staying at deluxe and moderate. A dessert party, if I can book it, it will be our fun extra on the trip and was factored in. The total amounts breaks down to $240.34 a day per person, not counting the baby, who is considered "free" by Disney requirements. Given that we can only travel at the peak times due to school, I like having the splurges to offset the crowds and weather. :)

WOW! I'm just impressed about how much money you have managed to save with all those gift cards and sales!

Congratulations on being able to do that. I am NOT organized enough to even start that. Have a great trip!

Are you asking "all in" price, including tickets, lodging, food, souvenirs, etc...? We're very budget oriented too...we stay offsite and bring almost all of our own food in. I'm not going to add in ticket prices because they're relatively consistent across the board (yes, you can save a little via third party sellers, etc...but it's not a huge difference). Besides, we bought APs, so it's hard to factor that in. So just food, lodging, etc...

Our next trip will be the last two weeks of June. We're staying for 17 nights, so obviously that makes costs higher. We've done this trip the past 3 summers, typical costs are...

Lodging is $1750 all in (taxes, fees, etc...), staying in a 4 bed/3 bath townhouse off property.

Food...including snacks we buy for the kids, the rare eat out night, everything...will be roughly $600-$700 total

Souvenirs and such usually come in around $100 total out of our pocket (the kids bring their own money from b-days, Xmas, allowance, etc...)

So all in, I'd say we come in around $2500-$2600 for the 5 of us to stay 17 nights, not including ticket costs. This summer, we are not planning to renew our AP and may not return to WDW for a few years...so we may spend a bit more in souvenirs.
Mind if I ask where you're staying? If you're paying $1750 for 17 nights, that's around $104/night after taxes and fees for a 4bedroom unit?

Oh my. Super impressed with everyone's skill here at saving money. And that makes me so totally depressed. DW and I are treating our adult kids to the WBPC (91 days!). That includes three 5B cabins, first class air from the pacific northwest, plus transfers and all the little things (they pay their shorex, tips, and Palo share). I get sticker shock just thinking about it. But sharing this experience with our kids is worth every penny.
