We will be going in March and have 4 people on DDXP. The youngest in our group is 19 and he only drinks water (he's a runner lol). Would the others at the table be able to use his drink credit since they are all pooled together?

I'm guessing it will depend on the cast member. You paid for the DP, he's only drinking water, he would be entitled to a drink if he was of age, just tell them to bring it to you. It's not like it's costing Disney anything extra.

There aren't separate drink credits. Because he's 19, he won't be able to order an alcoholic drink, but he could order some other specialty drink and someone else at the table could drink it.

Any word on substitutions? In the past, my kids and even I would sub a dessert or side item for the drink bc we aren’t big soda drinkers. I will definitely opt for wine or beer where available but I’m mainly thinking about the kids and magic Kingdom.

That substitution was hit or miss last year. There were even some resort QS locations that would only allow a bottled drink instead of a snack item, and it was rarely allowed at all in the parks. It never hurts to ask, though.

Can someone please explain to me what pooling credits means?
Im sure it will make me sound like an amateur, but every time I see discussion
of it I get confused haha.

On the deluxe and quick service plans the credits aren't separately designated between child and adult. So essentially, adults could use all the credits and pay OOP for kids.

And even on the regular dining plan, quick service credits aren't split by adult/child. So kids can get an adult meal, if they'd like to.

He can order whatever he wants, a coke, a smoothie, a virgin drink, etc, but no alcohol. When he receives his drink, he can give it to whoever he wants.

Speciality drinks are now included at buffets. Yes I realize not everyone goes to the buffet/family style restaurants.
Doesn't the new plan allow kids to get milkshakes? I didn't think that was an included drink on the meal plans.

But the kids price for the dining plan costs less money doesn't it?

Yes, and children are supposed to order from children's menu when one is available. However at this time the computer system when you pay at register doesn't discriminate between an adult meal and a child's meal so many people take advantage of this and order an adult meal instead of a child's meal. At some point I think Disney might adjust their system to prevent this "abuse" of their dining plan.

I don't understand this. The cost for the dining plans for kids is less money, so how can the adults use their credits and buy kids OOP?

They just tell the server at the beginning of the meal that they are going to use dining plan credits for the adults and pay cash for the kids meals.

Has anyone heard any reports from Biergarten? Just wondering how the adult drink option plays out there. Thanks :)

For the deluxe plan, they can do this at table service meals because they pool the meal credits rather than say x adult credits and y kid credits. For the regular dining plan, you can’t do this because the credits are separate for TS. They are pooled for QS though. My youngest will get an adult meal at least part of the time for QS because there are more choices and variety.

So if you have to purchase for the kids just the same on the Deluxe Plan, how does it make sense to use those for the adults and buy the kids meals. I guess I still don't get it.
