***Official December 2017 thread!

ok so I'm trying to figure out my game plan for animal kingdom. I'm going on December 11 which is an EMH day specifically because I couldn't score a FP to FoP and was hoping to do it at rope drop without the wait being crazy. That being said, if the park opens for EMH at 8 what time would be a good time to get to the park? I know the busses only run so early, but I don't want to get there too early unnecessarily either as we're doing the MVMCP the night before. Thanks in advance for the help!

I’d say be there between 7 and 7:30, but the closer to 7 the better. Pretty much everyone in the RD crowd will be headed to FOP, so you could still have a longer wait for FOP if you’re toward the back of the RD crowd.

24??! that's a big group!

you're telling me! We have made it very clear to eveyrone that we are *not* sticking together after we do group pics in front of the castle, etc. Families are free to go do whatever they want. We can all meet up for lunch and dinner at a QS and for fireworks, but there's absolutely no way we are going to try to travel through the park as a group of 24. Nope. Nuh-uh.

I would be like now its a group of 23 and I will see you later :rotfl2:

Sort of scared now. Just altered all of my reservations because other folks I was going to be traveling with can't attend. I'll be at WDW for 3 nights, including one MVMCP. I used to go to the parks alone sometimes when I was in the college program, but it's been quite a while.

Any encouragement from fellow solo travelers? Hopefully my two TS meals won't be weird -- Skipper Canteen and Biergarten CP package. ;)

I prefer going to the parks solo. I will admit that I am sort of a Princess, though, I like doing what I want, when I want to. Also, based on my solo excursions in the past, there are plenty of people around to talk to, if you want to (and sometimes if you don't, ha!)
I have no problem eating anywhere alone but I will say I was very disappointed with Skipper Canteen. When I was there in January, my server was entertaining, but with 3 of us ordering appetizers, entrees, and dessert, there wasn't ONE thing any of us said we'd get again.

Where is your CP res at? I’ll be at Biergarten! Last minute trip, but I do enjoy the restaurant.
We will be at Biergarten for CP too on the same day. Hope the food is as good as the last time we went. We switched from Rose and Crown in order to get early show and be able to run to HS for holiday events. Busy day!

It's our 1st time using magic bands..does anyone decorate their bands? I have seen some decals and skins on etsy. Any suggestions?

I have made autograph books for my granddaughters and we also made family shirts for every day with iron on designs and then my daughter added glitter. I am now looking for Christmas window decorations for our rooms. I am out of control and still 49 days to go! LOL
These are the magic band decals I made last year. We get our new ones in the next week or so, most of us ordered decals again!

HA! We had Biergarten, initially, because it's one of our usual must-dos. BUT, because of all the cool food booths around the World Showcase I really wanted to sample without bursting at the seams (you're a Biergarten vet; you KNOW how that goes!!!), I wound up scoring a 9:25am breakfast reservation at Garden Grill with the same CP show (6:45). That's a belt-buster, too, but I'm hoping I'll have walked off enough to do some Snacking 'Round the World later in the afternoon.
I'm just happy the breakfast is late enough to allow for some sleep after MVMCP!!!! :santa:
Do they have different booths near Christmas like they do for food wine?

I took a nice long break, and with 35 days left to go I'm back in planning mode! Made my Touring Plans, reserved a stroller for the 3yo, cancelling the unnecessary dining reservations, and working on a packing list. We decided to wait until a few days before the trip to tell the kids and it's SO HARD to keep it a secret!

Is anyone on here into Disney bounding when they go to the parks? My sister and step-mom introduced me to it and now I am obsessed. My sister and I are planning of couple of Disney bounds together for our trip - Minnie(her) and Daisy (me), Wendy(her) and Peter Pan(me), and Belle(her) and Ariel(me). I am so excited!

Us too! 23 days to go. We are telling our 9 year old the night before with a scavenger hunt and the final clue will be in a board game we play. We will play it that night. The game, ticket to ride, has card pieces that tell you to travel from one state to another. We are going to change the back of the card to say Connecticut to Orlando with a mickey sticker in the middle and the final clue which will lead her to her magic band. I can’t wait!!! It was easy to hold it in the first 5 months but these final days are so hard
