Hurricane Irma?

Nope, they just aren't in to saurophagous.

B b b but I thought they loved chasing things that run really fast!

Geckos are fun.. You could have scorpions like here in Arizona..

Ugh no! No scorpions! Never will you find me in Arizona for that reason

This damn thing gave me enough scare tonight that I'm gonna have to watch American Horror Story tomorrow morning :)

Yeah I think it's updated. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Respectfully, but that's not the NHC track. It'll be updated again at 11.

Edit, I see the problem, you said "hitting Miami" and I thought you meant the storm was literally forecast to hit Miami by the NHC. I guess you just meant the overall cone.

Maybe you haven't experienced the hardness of hurricanes like I have - that's great, and if you want to 'chill' - that's good, but don't tell me to chill. I know what it's like for a Cat 5 to potentially come.

The media has 'nothing' to do with how I feel - I watch the National Hurricane Center site only and keep up with the size, strength, changes, direction, etc.

Congrats, but I was commenting on you judging others, not your website viewing habits.

That is for peasants ....

Haven't been able to find this answer in the wdw hurricane info....my plane leaves at 8 am...I will be there til the 13th. If the parks close for a day or 2, will I be given tickets for the missed days to use at a later date? Also I have a dessert party booked for the 11th...I know we don't get a refund if the fireworks are cancelled but I assune we would if the entire party is cancelled right? Anything else I need to be aware of? Staying at Pop, packed some extra clothes, food to avoid the box meals and flashlights. I will make sure to get some water ASAP when we get there.

Local positive spin? If my windows/doors get obliterated/damaged, I have hurricane insurance (high deductible). But, I do need new doors/windows at some point. Wind damage that is not an official hurricane at my residence, then the insurance deductible is considerably less.

Trying to keep perspective.

I have been on hold with Disney for over a half an hour and the peppy happy music and constant announcements aren't running. It feels weird and sad! I wonder if I am actually on hold, or if it will just cut off when it is time for the phone lines to shut down!

Earlier today I was told nothing was available for my dates. I see all sorts of new bookings that are available online..... I hope they let me make one of those! I would just book the new and cancel the old, but we don't do credit cards, and can't wait for $$ to be refunded. Plus Disney would technically be getting more money out of me as I will loose free dining (so so sad!) and I will have to pay more for the room.

I'm on hold as well, decided to cancel. Same deal, no music, no announcements, just silence.

Oh my gosh you guys .......:rolleyes2 ...... IRMA will do what IRMA wants to do, she doesn't read computer modules.

You can find very reliable sources that say it will go west into gulf and impact west coast, it will go in to the everglades and straight up the state, it will hit Miami and cross over covering most the state, it will bump it's way up the east coast and it will be pulled east traveling up and hit the Carolinas. Every few hours most those modules adjust to something different.

We don't know what we don't know ............... and unless this thing quits, we won't probably know for a couple more days anything more definitive ........... but the Governor and gang have to start all procedures or else they will be playing catch up.

Stop arguing that you are all right ....... it's pointless ... since no one is going to be right until this thing is over and then it was just because you picked the right team.

Well ............ I have all kinds of insurance ............but so did my folks when Wilma hit. Planned on those upgraded hurricane windows/doors .......... so many claims from Wilma many insurance companies including theirs bellied up. SO ..... they got their windows ... at great expense .... after being out 4 years.

Agreed. I'm from the north east. I've lived through more than a few damaging storms and more than twice as many "storm of the century" scenarios that ended up fizzling out. The media LOVES this stuff. That's why they are hyping it up days before there is any definitive forecast. They want people tuning in constantly to see every little change.
Exactly. They get on my last nerve with this stuff. It's totally unnecessary. They just have to find something to fill all those hours of programming so they do this type of stuff.

We reserved with a friend's DVC points. We were scheduled for BC from 9/7 to 9/13. After an hour and a half, we changed our reservation and they got us into Saratoga Springs in January. That is a while a way for us, but we are thankful we at least will not be at Disney this week with the weather. Praying for all those in Irma's path.

Sounds like they may not have done a thorough credit background check on their insurance company and claims/fulfillment duration. I remember Wilma and the fiasco with insurance companies; didn't the state of FL change the fiduciary requirements for home insurers afterwards?

And as everyone can see, a majority proportion go right through Florida. Only a handful skirt the state.

That's because the models take into account the Saturday'Sunday transition of the guiding currents from a northwesterly to more northerly (not easterly) track. That will happen when a shortwave trough from the south begins to degrade the Atlantic trough currently pushing Irma northwest. Based on timing, most of those models know that transition will happen right around the time Irma is due south of Florida.

Which is why the Governor and smart money there are preparing for the worst and not engaging in wishful thinking about Irma suddenly veering away from the state into the Atlantic at the last minute.

I'll just leave these updated consensus models right here....along with my earlier comment about the trend east.
