Beverage tastings online

It started today. Someone in our group posted it yesterday and sure enough, the tastings show up online as of this morning.

This was what was posted in our meet group:
If there are any beverage tastings on our sailing starting tomorrow we can pre-book them online:

Beginning July 13, 2017 Guests will be able to pre-reserve select Beverage Tastings during their cruise activities booking window under the "Onboard Fun" section of My Cruise Activities.

Beverage Tastings are informative seminars where Guests sample select adult beverages such as wine, beer, spirits and more.

Below is a list of Beverage Tastings that may be pre-reserved online (based on availability):
- Amari Tasting
- Beer Tasting
- Bourbon Tasting
- Champagne Tasting
- Chocolate & Liquor Tasting
- Cognac Tasting
- Martini Tasting
- Rum Tasting
- Stem-to-Stern Wine Tasting
- Tequila & Margarita Tasting
- Whiskey Tasting

Beverage Tastings are available only to Guests 21 years of age and older. Seminars vary based on ship and itinerary. Guests are able to book multiple tastings prior to the cruise. Beverage Tastings are generally offered on Days at Sea and days at Castaway Cay.

Nominal fees apply and pricing may vary. Gratuities are included with the price when pre-reserving. Ok, I'm going to be stupid here... What is Amari? Because all I think of when I see/hear Amari is my TKD trainer. And I do NOT want to know...well, yeah.

Ooh, I hope that this is more than a test. We have a cruise on the Magic next summer, and I'd be the only one in our family signing up for a tasting--it would be great to know 'when' they are offered and sign up for one that works for me. (I'd really love to try the Chocolate & Liquor one!)

This is what is shown on the dcl website:
Amari Tasting
Delve into a diverse menu of Italian Amari drinks as the perfect primer to this complex class of herbal spirits.

Interesting. After the Italian Cocktail Tasting I did before and some of that nasty stuff (I swear the useless junk I had to take for asthma when I was a kid tasted better - and I had to be held down to get that down my throat), plus Amari being my TKD instructor's name I'll be skipping that one for sure!

I think this is a permanent change since the website is updated and our cruise already has the tastings listed on under "On Board Fun." It is basically what they did with the Meet-and-greets and that seems to be working well.

I am also really glad to be able to decide these in advance. Definitely helps manage multiple events that occur on the same day.

120 days out? Must be the NYC cruise 11-11! Maybe? :) if so we'll be on that with you. I'm excited that we can book tastings in advance now! Although I can't book until 90 days out... boo for silver.

I'm not seeing the Amari/Amaro tasting for my upcoming cruise, but I worked with Concierge to book Palo at 11, Mixology at 1 and Whiskey at 10 on the first sea day. I'm going to be a busy boy that day, because we'll probably have a private mixology at about 3 on the first sea day as well.

Edit: Just found Amari on Halloween afternoon. I'm there!

Annnnnd now I'm also set up for Rum, Martini and Bourbon on the second sea day. I'm going to have to pace myself. Gotta start exercising the liver right now.

Yaay! I hope this is a new and permanent feature. After the first cruise or two, we decided to go to Guest Services (or wherever you are supposed to go) as soon as we boarded but we often had conflicts with other scheduled things. If I knew, for example, when the cognac or high-end cognac tasting is going to be held, I'd make sure not to book a late seating at Palo that night. I guess they started getting higher demand as people became aware of it. Also helps them to know what their attendance is likely to be earlier and to add sessions or make them larger where possible.

Do you know how the private mixology was setup? Our group is trying to do one and the coordinator is having trouble finding out how. Thank you

Wow! the tastings on my October cruise filled up in an instant. Glad I grabbed the ones I wanted before asking the wife by the time she came up stairs the ones we wanted were gone.

This is what worries me. I hope they hold back some slots/times to book on board. :(
