SDFP: CHANGES COMING!! Beware the 7th of June?!

I am now getting ads from Disneystore for MagicBands on sale. So maybe this was all a big promotion.

I wonder. However, I just checked out that sale. It's all Magicband 1 stuff. None of the 2 stuff is on sale. I think they're just clearing out the old inventory.
.

Yeah, it was all MB1 with their associated accessories (sliders, watches, bandits). MB2s and their accessories (magic keepers) are not for sale. They've been upping the amount of special MB2s in recent months, so I think they just want to get rid of all the MB1s.

The precedent of a paid fastpass has been set since the announcement of MaxPass! Perhaps they are waiting to see what the reaction to that will be, before they move forward with a paid fastpass at Disney World.

Shanghai has also instituted a paid FP option, but I think that was due to actual scalpers getting to the parks early and selling FPs. But now you can pay money to get either one FP or a set of FP for every ride that has one. Or you can still get the free ones, you just have to time it right and expect sell-outs. While the paid one (similar to the Universal Express Pass) only gives access to each ride once, you can still get free FPs for the ride with your park entry ticket.

I could see a similar thing at WDW eventually-you get your free ones, but they also have the paid anytime ones. Then they would reduce the amount of free ones to account for the paid anytime ones, so rather than, say, 100 FPs per time slot, they only have 75 slots.

Oh I didn't know that about Shanghai! Interesting!!

What you're saying about WDW makes sense and I could see them going that route. With MaxPass, they are saying that paper fastpasses are still available and free, but the paid service is only to be able to book from anywhere in the park on your mobile device. There is (was? news has been slow) sooo much speculation on how the fastpasses will be distributed. Will they reserve a set amount for paper? Will the paper and digital fastpasses be pulled from the same pool? etc. etc. etc. I am anxious to hear more about the MaxPass system. Then we can speculate more on a potential paid WDW FP+ :D

And wayyy more people are aware of the general universe of this stuff after some more mainstream places have made reference. So whatever survives will have a much bigger potential user base.

The combined threads for SDFP have had over a million views. The DIS is pretty mainstream. Not sure if there will be a difference in numbers, moving forward. And they'd have to come here to find out what to do next. They may not know to do that.

Just you wait, 'enry 'iggins, just you wait!:p

"There's a million things I haven't done ..."

The neighborhood is going down hill, have you noticed?

Previously we were just Ben Franklin with a key and a kite. You see it, right?

But this conversation's lasted longer than two, maybe three minutes...and not everything has been in total agreement.

I have never been satisfied.

These quotes have made my afternoon.

One of the best parts of Disney is that they include free FPs. You pay over $100 to go to a park (sure less if you're there a long time) - it's nice that they included that... I'll be very disappointed if they take that away.

Quick question. Just arrived in Orlando. Having dinner at the contemporary and then walking over to MK. Am I safe to use any fastpass, ticketed or not, used to enter the park or not, when I go to MK tonight? Thanks

Yes, I want info on MaxPass! Especially because I will probably be getting the annual version (I go often enough). I think the overall concept is that the same FPs will be available digital and paper. The available time will probably run out quicker as people grab them from the app. So in theory, if you enter DCA at rope drop and have your app open. Immediately grab Racers pass, similar to most anyone else with MaxPass. By the time the first person can arrive at the paper machine, all the availability for the first hour may be gone. And the return time will get later and later, quicker and quicker. People who book strategically will, in theory, get more FPs. But more likely is that FPs will run out much more quickly, and maybe every ride who has a FP will run out during the day?

I totally agree Lesley. I consider myself a pretty strategic Disneyland FP user but I get lazy and don't pull them as often as I can because I don't want to run over to the other side of the park or because we are having lunch, etc. BUT with the app all of that goes away. I think more and more FP will disappear earlier

When the dust finally settles I wonder what changes will occur or when I should do this or that for our Oct. trip.
Currently DH is lead on our Primary MDE account: BRV resort, MM & 5 day non expiring tickets for 3pp.
I am lead on our Second MDE account: 2017 MMSSHP tickets for 3pp.

No phantom on either account.
Also in my stash I have 6 - 5 day non expiring tickets and 3 purchased MB all are new and not linked.:stir:

To the best of our knowledge, you're safe!

Eventually you'll want to link the two MDEs via Add a Guest on your Family and Friends list. Then link the 3 MBs. Then link the 6 NE tix to the 3 MBs and the 3 MNSSHP profiles. Then you can do donor CPFP. But not yet.

Wait for it!

Disney doesn't discriminate between the sinners and the saints, it takes and it takes and it takes and we keep spending anyway.

I'm non-stop. @Ariel Wanna-be and @mikat - I blame you. (Have you been? I coulda be anywhere in the world next January, but I'm going to be with them in New York City. I'm ready for a cabinet meeting.)

I'll definitely wait as I know some changes occurred last year too (Sept & Oct. 2016). @ScrapYap my window for my primary doesn't open until August 24th. :bored:

I agree...Disney's financial plan is a work of genius. I couldn't stop going if I tried. And believe me, I tried.

I go to Florida with more funds, I come back with more ears...and pins...and so the cycle spins.

Do NOT throw away your shot...we saw it last winter and it blew us all away.

In anticipation of my upcoming trip, I would like to make friends with my other MDE account, in case the changes actually do rid the world of SDFP and move us to CPFP use. However, when I go into my primary MDE and "Add a Guest", I don't see any way of entering the email address of the other MDE account. When I choose the "Find through my Connected Guests" option, I get the message "There are no connected Guests you may add at this time. Please select a different way to add your new Guest". Any assistance on this would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!
