Can't separate it then I guess.

Ok. I changed it in my post. Thanks. I am a spreadsheet aficionado myself, so hopefully it doesn't mess with that too much.

Whoo Hoo! We added on to our VGF points. It is actually 2 contracts owned by the same seller; one 60 pt. contract and one 100 pt. contract. I didn't know how that should be formatted. The closing costs are the same because it is the same seller. We wanted to add on two smaller contracts in the event we ever want to sell them. $130pp on a 60 pt. and 100pt. mostly stripped VGF contract isn't amazing, but we will take it. We've been looking for something like this with Feb UY for months now, so we took it. Harder to find the smaller Feb. contracts than I would've thought for VGF. :) Pretty happy with this one!

Edited for formatting
Congrats! Great idea to get 2 smaller instead of 1 larger. Most of ours are smaller ones. That way you can downsize if needed. And VGF...sweet! I am dying to stay there but DH poo-poos it due to high point cost. Someday. Congrats again!

Thank you. You've got to stay there. It's such a great DVC. I think the DVC rooms are nicer than the GF hotel rooms, and I've stayed in both!

Congratulations

Thank you!

I stayed at the Grand Floridian when I was 8 prior to it officially opening. The monorail had just started stopping there and the lake was a pit of sand. Even then and at a young age, I could tell that place was something special. Nearly 30 years later, we just went back and it was every bit as amazing as I remembered it. It may not be for everyone, but we love it.

Oh no, I am on the AKV bandwagon too.... first one taken now have second one in ROFR .... I paid 83/pt but its a loaded contract..... just went yesterday... have long time to wait.

Do y'all think the slight uptick in AKV buybacks is due to increased AKV demand because of Avatar Land/Pandora which is opening next month?

I just love the fragrance of the place. Last time we were there we tracked down the "scent maker", but alas, they weren't going to let us take any home. Do the villas have the same fragrance?

I thought about this myself, though it would seem strange... AKV isn't considered hard to book, so I'd be surprised if that was the case. I'm waiting with bated breath to see how this goes...

Disney took back my contract yesterday afternoon :(

We're going for broke!

TexasChick123---$102-$26003-250-BLT-Sep-0/16, 179/17, 250/18-Seller Pay 1/2 of MF on remaining 2017 Pts. and Seller paying CC- sent 4/10

I think there is maybe a 5% chance of this one making it out of ROFR. We had a particular number of points in mind that we wanted to add, and wanted to split them between VGF and BLT. If this one gets taken, I am DEFINITELY taking a break for a while and just going to enjoy my increased VGF points. This stuff adds up quickly. We couldn't let such a good deal just pass at the other resort we wanted. If this one makes it out of ROFR, I am done adding on, at least for quite a few years if not forever!

You really *are* too much! I was eyeing your VGF contracts and now I'm eyeing all your BLT points. I have a feeling we may be adding on our BLT direct points sooner rather than later...
Good luck with this one!

This is making me really excited to stay in August! We loved staying at the hotel last year, despite check in and room assignment snafus - the CMs made everything right again. We spent more time at the resort than we'd expected. Now, though, it's making me wonder if we jumped the gun on buying DVC - we have friends who own at various resorts and say they love VGF the best, and we'd originally planned our August point rentals to see where we should buy (first), with VGF, BWV and BCV all in the running. We do love BLT/CR (sentimental favorite because as a kid, MONORAIL THROUGH THE HOTEL OMG), but it was a little bit colored by the financials too (lower cost pp, length of contract, and MFs). I'm curious - why did you choose the additional BLT contract?

Has the GF been open THAT long??? Damn, I'm old. I still think of it as a "new" resort!! :earseek:

Haha. I have a friend that couldn't remember when we were going on our week-long family trip this last January, so she always jokes that I am living there all the time. I wish those points would go farther, but sadly I still won't have close to enough for a solid week at VGF in peak season. Insane fact, I know. It'll be enough for us though, and we can take off one day and just go for 6 nights. Also, I don't know that I can mentally handle the crowds during the super busy times anymore. Also, maybe we will be able to stay in a grand villa for like one night with that amount of points [sarcasm]. ;)

Thanks for the well wishes. Happy to answer your question as I am sure people think we are crazy and being impulsive. ;) Quite the contrary, as we have thought this thing out a lot. We want stay in 2-bedroom villas a VGF for a week once a year especially while the kids are still young. That costs 340 points in a standard 2-bedroom in low season and 632 points in high season at VGF. Yes, we could stay in a smaller unit, but that is not our preference. Our 200 VGF points were being chewed through very quickly. We wanted to add more points, but we thought it made more sense to split between the two resorts because BLT is cheaper but is also an MK resort. Also we follow the whole "don't put all your eggs in one basket" theory. Since we are in our mid-thirties, adding on at an Epcot resort, while they are really nice, doesn't make sense for us because of the shorter contract term. We now have enough to go during low season for a week, but my oldest is starting kindergarten in the fall, so traveling during non-school holidays will be a thing of the past very quickly. We will have to line up our vacations more with the school calendar now. Also, should there be years when we cannot go to Disney, we can easily rent out our points to either of those two resorts. Some command higher rental values than others, so we wanted to stick with 2 that would allow rentals relatively easily at a higher price point. If we use a broker instead of doing it ourselves, it should be a snap. If I rent them out myself, it will be more work, but it is doable and more money. Renting out our points isn't really the goal (and I don't even know that we would do it at all instead of using the points), but it is certainly a factor that many of us take into consideration when deciding to buy DVC because it limits the downside when you purchase should you have some years when you cannot go to Disney. A lot of people rent out their points to pay for the cruises because those are so darn expensive. I'm guessing that is why Disney hasn't shut down the rental market because that would make purchasing DVC much less attractive to potential buyers. Also, the resale market is very active for both of those resorts should we ever find ourselves needing to scale down in ownership because we don't go as often or we just want to cut expenses. With my background, I always have an emergency exit plan for worst case scenario! I can't help it. :\

TexasChick123- Congratulations on your contracts! I've been following your plight of passing ROFR for a bit and am happy to see you passed and are on your way to more vacations at VGF! I submitted my VGF contract on 04/01/17 and am anxiously waiting to hopefully pass ROFR.
