Maryland just passed a law that schools can't start before labor day. That's how it was when I was a kid. It's nice because it allows for more family vacation time. Kids were getting out of school at the end of June and going back mid August.

Our county and some of the surrounding counties in VA have the same law. Due to the amusement park in the area (King Dominion) schools can't open until after Labor Day so they don't loose their high school help too early. We get out in mid-June and go back the day after Labor Day, not a bad summer vacation.

You guyyys! I just had a heart attack when I saw Disney destinations emailed me... with a pin for summer dates! Darn it bring on free dining!
I got one too but there is no actual code. it just says this is a unique offer for you. here is a pinch of pixie dust

I have a quick question! I need to book two rooms at a value for the 7 of us for FD, would I be able to do that online the day it comes out at 4am? Or do I need to wait until phone lines open at 7am and call? Hmmm...Maybe I'll call and ask what's the best. Any ideas?

That really surprised me. I thought that was supposed to be one of the perks of having that card. :confused3 I wouldn't know. I've been trying to get that darn thing for 2 years. I bought a house. Bought a car. But I can't get a Disney Visa card. :scratchin
Nice to know American's are having trouble getting the Disney Visa. I liked it years ago when it was American Express as us Canadians could get the perks as we could get the card.

From previous years it looks like the Visa Cardholders and us Canadians got an extra week or so of Free Dining that the GP weren't able to get. I hope it's the same this year as then I should be set for my dates.

Yep, I got a Pin Code too without the Pin Code, and it says: "Be sure to mention your UNIQUE OFFER CODE: ______" But it's blank!

You should be able to do it all online. I would definitely try to do this as the phones will be extremely busy once they open up and your rooms might be gone by then.:)

Same here. I was thinking about calling to find out what's up. Nah...I'll just wait for free dining to drop!

Same here--up to 30% off room by 8/31/17--I'm just happy I got a UOC--hopefully it's a good sign for all of us!

I didn't get a pin code. I got a please take a survey about using the website.
I agree. But I have to put myself in their shoes. I mean, most of us know the pitfalls of FD, you may or may not get it. But to the uneducated and/or the first time visitor who happens to hear about it or see an ad on TV, they want to know why they didn't get it thinking everybody gets it and they got shafted. I can't even imagine how many irate calls they get. Or how many calls or emails they must get pestering them about it. With all of that said, I think the woman in the video (Tracy?) could have really toned it down a little.

I agree. I think the thing that rubbed me the wrong way was talking about people maximizing the dining plan by getting steak and lobster. Whether you get your credits by paying rack rate for the room, having a minimum day of tickets and paying additional for park hopper (for me that represents about $1200 I am paying for "free dining") OR if you get it by adding it to your package, it would then be dumb and stupid to pay more then you will use. If you don't make sure to use your credits wisely then you might as well have paid OOP. Ordering something you don't enjoy would be dumb. But for my house we skrimp and save for years to go to Disney. We don't eat out, we watch movies at home, and only buy things we need. We do all that so we can save $5000 to go to Disney and I'm going to get some steak and I don't appreciate being made to feel like I'm doing something wrong. However I got my credit I can spend the credit within Disneys plan.

Rant over.

This may be a dumb question, but how did you get the "unique offer codes" email with no code? I wonder why some people get special emails with codes and others don't.. is there something special you have to sign up for?

I got the email with UOC/PIN code too, but mine has an cutlass code. Sadly it does me no good since it's a summer offer and we're going in Dec :snooty:

Ha, me too! It's mind boggling.

To the bolded: I beg your pardon! What did you just say about Americans!?! LOL.

I can actually sort of relate. Every time I see the Canadian or U.K. offers I'm blown away. I mean they are throwing in everything but the kitchen sink to get you guys to Orlando. Especially U.K.!! Free this or free that, Free Dining, free gift cards, free foot massages! I mean where does it end with you people. LOL
:rotfl2:.............................................did I just say "you people"? That sentence was American talk. It doesn't exactly translate directly. The "you people" is silent. Just an FYI

Me too! Have other Visa cards but can't get that! Who knows?!

Well at least you all get codes! I have never ever received any codes by mail or email and I go usually once a year! I can never figure it out! :confused3

Canadian here.:wave2: Our discount is not really that great when you figure in the exchange rate. 8 day park hopper for my family of 5 is costing us $1638.75 American with the Discounted tickets for Canadians. When you add in the exchange rate $1638.75 US is $2190.68 Canadian so we only will save $224.32 American on tickets. If we spent $4000.00 US on room and Dining plan and didn't get a discount that would cost us $5347.30 Canadian.:scared: So really the offer helps but to us the non discounted US deals with no exchange would be better!:teeth:
