Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

Aw! I did say to my husband, it would be a great pool if you had older kids! Mine are 10 years apart (oldest and youngest!) so that is a big age gap too!

And why doesn't the YC/BC have any good quick service places?!

I forgot another one. I eat GF. Just by choice, so I don't ask for a chef or anything. We were up super early on our arrival day to travel, and just stopped down at the QS in the gift shop for a quick dinner. GF options didn't seem too great, so I ordered a roast beef sandwich without the bun. The woman ROLLED HER EYES at me! I couldn't believe it! I'm always super polite and try not to make things difficult! I just said -can I have a roast beef sandwich without the bun? Doesn't that seem simple enough???
I totally get it;) our son doesn't eat anything with his burger in a bun and that simple fact baffled the heck out of the staff over at Roaring Forks he got aplain burger in a plate, a plain gluten free meat free burger and then on a seperate occasion a plain bun no meat patty ! It wasn't that complicated if a request just a plain beef burger in a plain white roll no sauce no salads etc. I fear for the future guests over there.

There seem to be a lot of comments/complaints about housekeeping at the Yacht & Beach resorts lately and I would encourage people to share their experiences with Disney management because if they are not hearing about problems, they probably won't get fixed. I experienced the all-day-tray in the hallway during my recent trip and I agree that there is really no excuse for that not to be taken care of within a few hours.

During a recent stay at the BC, I came back to my room between about 2:00-2:30 in the afternoon, after having left the room about 7:45 that morning. The room was not made up. After awhile, I called housekeeping from the room to ask about the room being made up, as I realized that shifts were about to change. Supposedly, a housekeeping supervisor answered my call and asked if there were a "Privacy" notice that had been left on the door. When I said there was not, she then said, in a snide tone, that she did not see any request for the room to be tended to early. I then asked if the room could be made up by dinner time, and she said she would get somebody there right away. I was in the room for a bit longer, then left, not returning till that night, so I don't know when someone actually got to the room. Another CM said that because there are so many check-outs on Sundays (this was on a Sunday), that they can run behind, as they are told to clean the vacated rooms first, so that those rooms can be assigned for arriving guests.

There is a very interesting video on YouTube from a College Program CM, who was a Mousekeeper. She addressed the number of rooms that each Mousekeeper must clean in a day, with no regard for the condition they are in. Apparently, there are many guests who totally trash their rooms. Some of the examples of room condition she gave were pretty amazing!

I can't blame the individuals actually cleaning the rooms...sometimes the work load assigned is just too great.

Of course you can share my review! :-) And I sent an email to Disney. I got the standard "we'll reply within 5 days" reply...I'll keep you posted when I hear from someone.

It's interesting I'm not the only one who noticed how late housekeeping did our rooms! It wasn't just once it happened-as though it had been a particularly busy day. It seems odd they don't bang out the rooms that just need fresh towels and beds made. I'm wondering if they are doing room turns first? We landed at MCO at 9:45 a.m. on arrival day, which was really nice. I wonder if they kind of do things backwards, if that makes sense, so rooms are ready for guests arriving early?

The discussion of the late-day cleaning of the rooms has me a bit concerned. There's one particular day I may need them to clean early; is that something I can request?

Last summer we stayed in a BC CL two room suite on the third floor for 8 nights. When we checked in, and made our way to our suite, there was a tray of food and dishes in the hallway near our room. That tray sat in the hallway for two days. I mentioned it casually the first day, the next day, noting the strong ketchup odor, I was a tad more firm in my request to remove the tray. I caught a lil bit of attitude from the person who answered the housekeeping line, at which time I just said if you don't come get this disgusting tray of spoiling food out of the hallway near my door, I'm going to personally deliver it to the club level desk cms, and explain how long it's been sitting there. You know, that tray was picked up 10 minutes later. I didn't want to be ugly, but gee whiz it's food. Not a lost sock.

Yes...tell them the time you are hoping to have the room cleaned.

Yikes! I'm so praying we get a decent view!

Standard view. You get what you get & it's usually not anything you really want to look at. This view actually would not have bothered me that much if it wasn't for the noise from the pool. I'm probably one of those rare people that don't want a pool view. It's too noisy. It's nice to have something pretty to look at but peaceful is more important to me.

So true! I'm just hoping for a little bit of luck And I also don't love the pool view due to the noise. I too will trade trees for quiet.

I am not putting you down but I am just curious. Would you really cancel a hotel stay at a hotel because the brand new décor is different then you like? I can understand cancelling if the rooms were run down/dirty but to cancel because of the décor, I just find kind of strange. Do you think it will really effect how much you and your daughters enjoy the resort? You will still have the same great amentities, just not the colors/comforter/pictures in the room that you would find more to your taste. I just wonder if the "room look" really effects that many people?

Absolutely. We recently stayed in one of the model rooms at CSR and I've loved that resort in the past, but I really disliked that room and it did have a big effect on how much I enjoyed the resort that time. CSR was my favorite moderate, but I disliked the room so much I doubt I would go back.

I have to say, the Standard View we had on YC's CL was actually rather pretty. We were in 5170, overlooking the bus stop and front portico, plus lots of trees and that little pond. The noise from the buses was MUCH lower than I'd expected, and it was a really nice place to enjoy my morning coffee. I'm planning to request it, or one nearby, again, because it was also REALLY convenient to the lounge.

Unfortunately the only pic I have is a bit blurry because I was photographing my kiddo and my yummy yummy welcome beverage. :drinking1

I have actually watched that young lady. She puts it so plainly I can see why from her perspective it can seem a little confusing to us guests. TBH I'm surprised they don't work the rooms in pairs all year round. It would speed up the servicing of the rooms and improve guest impressions of the resorts. Perhaps they need to hire some "leave reserves" to cover staff rest days and personal days and extra "seasonal" house keepers too to keep up with all the tasks needed to keep the place "ship shape and Bristol fashion" as my great grandad used to say;)

Nothing puts me off a resort like dirty plates cups and cutlery and half eaten food on trays in the halls. Surely room service should pop back at a designated time to collect that mess. That unappealing sight is unsanitary. It doesn't happen in the U.K. as far as I know, maybe it's a cultural thing. We were always taught to eat our food in the restaurants or if consuming in room dining food to call the dining team back to collect those used items once we are done and leave them on a table or trolley.

I completely see how busy the housekeepers can be and how little break time they can take during a shift. I can make allowances for that. It can't be easy to sort out all the tasks involved when the resorts seem to run at between 80 and 90 percent full all year around. Jobs like deep cleaning the carpets must become a challenge. Actually not that sure if the last one is up to house keeping or the maintainance teams, oh well you know what I mean. As for the rest of their work I for one am thankful of the fab work they do keeping the rooms habitable and well stocked.

Okay I've rambled on enough... back to the regular program with the ladies in the know:)

Input from longtime YC and BC lovers please.... right now we are booked May 9-16 at YC. BUT, we really want to come down on the weekend. Booked Sunday airfare and getting in really late Sunday. Haven't figured out Sunday night but know for certain on property starting Monday AM.

Monday night there is no availability at either YC or BC so I booked one night at French Quarter - never stay there but they have a really fun splash pad for DS and of course the boat downtown. However, we've always wanted to try the WL...For some reason I can get a great pass holder rate on WL for TWO night, not one.

Monday and Tuesday morning we will be at MK for certain. Afternoons are spent at the resort and then who knows for the evenings. Wednesday morning is Epcot and we would be at SAB pool that afternoon for certain.

Stick with one night POFQ or 2 night WL and one less at YC?

Any input or suggestions welcome. Thinking if we stayed at WL in the evenings we could boat to another resort, grab dinner, walk around, take the monorail (DS is obsessed) and maybe head into MK one or both evenings.

As long as you're ok with the construction I vote WL. Then you get the best of both worlds. MK area & Epcot area. The new Geyser Point bar & grill is really nice. Food & drinks are excellent.

The agent actually told me most construction would be done in april....I realize still some on the DVC side. He actually put me on hold to call someone and verify.
