The Sugies Do Disney: Part 2! - A Nov '16 TR *Completed*New TR link 11/20

We thought Kong was really cool as well, the one time we walked through the stand by line the scare actor wasn't there so we didn't see that. We did do the HHN and had a blast and I am a chicken. I also love Despicable Me!

Love your photos and report! We are wanting to do Universal one trip. Our daughter is finally growing into Universal with Harry Potter, Jurassic Park, etc., and your photos make it exciting to think about!

It was after 1pm and we were getting hungry so we headed over to the Simpsons Area and ate at the food court here. I really enjoy the Krusty Burgers there for some reason!
That area is so cool...

The wait for Kong had gone down to about 45 minutes, and I really really wanted to ride it, so we decided to wait it out. The line took every bit of that time and was also a little creepy! There is one portion of the queue where a real person jumps out and scares you. No one had any idea about this and it scared the daylights out of us! There were many screams :rotfl:I honestly didn't read much about what this ride entailed, but I heard a lot of positive things about it. It ended up being VERY cool and I'm glad we ended up waiting to do it! It's kind of hard to describe what kind of ride it is...it's not so much a simulator, but it is 3D and your ride vehicle does move around!
I'm glad you finally got a chance to do it. And really, 45 minutes for a new popular attraction really isn't all that bad.

I'm not crazy about the idea of scare actors in the queue. I can totally see that freaking a kid out before you can even get them on the ride. It's easy to reassure them that it is just a ride and nothing can touch them, but when something jumps out in the line, that could be a different story!

We were so exhausted this night for some reason...and we had many long nights still ahead of us! After some showers it was off to bed. Back to the Disney bubble tomorrow!
I can't imagine... you had quite the marathon day at Universal, even if it wasn't a terribly late night.

It's fun to explore other Parks and Places....but there's no place like being inside the Disney bubble :)

SO very true!! :goodvibes

I'm glad you got to ride Kong!! I knew about the scare actors in the queue so I wouldn't go through the regular line. I asked the TM if anyone jumped out at you in the express line pretending I wanted to know for Paxton. Lol which I kind of did but it was more for myself!!! I still made DH go first to confirm though!! It is a really tough ride to describe but it was really cool. I was on the side closest to the Kong animatronic and it was so awesome up close!

Looks like a lot of Universal fun!

Hahaha I'm glad you avoided the scare in the express line! I'm glad it's not just me finding a hard time describing it! But it is really cool!

Thanks, we had a great day!
I actually shouted, "Yay :dogdance:" when I read, "but we decided to wait it out" about the Kong ride! I didn't know someone jumps out during the queue! (off topic, but that's kind of what scares me about HHN there...I want to go, but I'm afraid that if anyone snuck up on me or something, that I'd hit them by reflex or something! I know I'd scream, too)

It looks like you had such a fun time there! I'm going to have to start looking at dates to go back. It's been on my mind so much lately!

I really didn't know anything about the ride going into it, so the scaring in the queue was a total surprise! Everyone was screaming!

It was a great day! I hope you guys get to go back soon! While it's not Disney, there is still so much to do and it's always a lot of fun!

Sounds like a fun and productive Universal day! But there really is nothing like being back in the Disney bubble. :lovestruc:lovestruc

It was, we had a great time! But it was a nice feeling driving under that sign again :goodvibes

This made me laugh, because the one and only time I went to HHN, I got scared by one of them popping out at me in a bunch of fog and hit him in the chest!! I was mortified!!!

That's totally what I'm afraid I'd do!!

LOL!! HHN definitely wouldn't be my cup of tea! I don't do scary :rotfl:

Thanks so much!! Your daughter will love Universal now that she can appreciate everything!

The Simpsons area is so immersive! Really brings the show to life!

You're right, 45 minutes is not a lot at all for such a new attraction. I'm glad we did it too!

Yeah, I really had NO idea about the scare actors! I can definitely see them scaring the crap out of kids, especially if they are reluctant to go on in the first place!

The days may be tiring, but they are always worth it in the end!

November 8th- Epcot

This morning we were up early for a pre-park opening ADR at Epcot!

We were at the bus stop at around 7:15 and reached Epcot by about 7:30!

We only had to wait about 20 minutes before they let us in. This was my first time having a PPO ADR at Epcot and it was pretty awesome walking around an empty Epcot! Therefore, many pictures were taken! I couldn't help but think of my mom on this morning. She would have been in picture heaven! Hopefully one day I can schedule an early morning ADR at Epcot for her!

We were headed to Norway for breakfast at Akershus!

Up next...we meet some princesses!

I think the Akershus breakfast is great. My family has done it three times and it's really become one of our "must-do's". We enjoyed it more than the CRT breakfast, and cheaper too.

Walking through an empty Epcot must have been so cool! We have a PPO breakfast at BOG on our next trip, but I have a feeling MK will be a little more crowded PPO than Epcot would have been, and it won't quite be the same. Still looking forward to it though. Can't wait to hear about your princess breakfast :)

It's definitely cheaper than CRT! I'm glad we did it, it was a great meal!

I love empty parks! They're just so peaceful :) Can't wait to read all about your breakfast with the princesses!princess:

Right?? It's such a different feeling vs. when the crowds arrive!

It was so so cool! MK will probably be a little more crowded but I think you will still enjoy it! Especially when you get to Fantasyland and see how empty it is! And hopefully you can get on Mine Train early!

November 8th- Akershus

We checked in and were brought right in to meet Belle!

We then headed to the cold buffet. I really enjoyed the donut holes!

Then one by one the princesses made their way torwards us! First was Snow White.

Then Ariel.

Then Cinderella.

And lastly, Aurora!

All the character interaction here was really great. The hot food was pretty standard (eggs, bacon, sausage), but very tasty. And the CHEESY POTATOES! Oh my gosh we were drooling over them. That was the one item we asked for seconds of!

I wasn't sure what I'd think of this meal but I'm really glad we did it! Good food, good characters!

Up next...Things don't go as planned, yet again!

We were going to go to Akerhaus for breakfast and changed to Garden Grill because of the AP discount. We may have to try Akerhaus next time. I love your shirt, did you make it?

Love your princess breakfast! I'm super picky about face characters' looks, especially Belle because she's one of my favourites, and when you met Belle she looked much more herself than I've typically seen her! :P That friend of Belle had a great look. And I know I've met that one of Snow White's friends before, too...

OMG found photographic evidence! I definitely did meet your SW...but it was FOUR YEARS ago!! Either she hasn't changed a bit, or she has an eerily similar SW doppleganger...

Breakfast looks fun! And a nice alternative to CRT for a breakfast meal with princesses. Love your shirts too! So cute. I bet the princesses loved seeing themselves on your shirts.

Love your pictures from breakfast with the princesses! It's been years since I've eaten at Akershus, so it's fun to read about someone else's experience. Your shirts are too cute!princess:

Joining! Loving your TR so far! And you and your cousin are absolutely adorable! Love your excitement :goodvibes Excited to read more!!! :thumbsup2

How funny because Garden Grill is like number one on my bucket list! I hope to get there one day soon (and I hope you get to Akershus)!

Yes I did! I bought the design off etsy (the seller had all different princesses) and I ironed it on myself.

I know exactly what you mean about being picky. You have an image in your head and you expect the real thing to look like that!

Omg that's definitely the same Snow White! How funny!

Thanks! Since we did CRT last time together, it was only right we try out Akershus this time. And the shirts were a hit with the princesses!

Thank you! I'm really glad we tried it out, I definitely think I'd eat there again!

Thanks for joining and the compliments! :) We absolutely have a blast when we are in Disney together!

November 8th- Starting the day with character meets!

We settled the bill and were outside by 8:50, where there was already a line formed for Frozen Ever After! It wasn't too bad though and even though we had a FP for later we got in line to try and ride it. 9am arrives and we see the Meet & Greet open, but not the ride. The minutes started to tick by and I just knew the ride was not operating. Finally around 9:15, a CM came around to say the ride was down and they didn't know when it would be up. UGH! Third morning in a row that things do not go as planned! We did not want to wait around not knowing when the ride would open, so we ditched that plan and headed towards Future World.

I've mentioned in past TRs that a good friend and her husband live near Disney and they actually met up with us for a little bit of our Epcot time which was nice! We all met up at the character spot to meet Joy & Sadness! The line took about 45 minutes, which is about what I expected. And let me say, it was WELL worth it! I absolutely love Inside Out. The movie's themes really spoke to me and I instantly fell in love with Sadness. Needless to say, I was a tad excited for this meet.

And it totally exceeded my expectations! We walked in and Joy was bouncing all over the place, very excited to see us. I of course went right over to Sadness and she gave me a big hug and then proceeded to dance with me. It was the cutest thing  and I love how she holds your hands in the photos!

We ended up spending a lot of time with them and it was wasn't rushed at all. It makes me happy when a character meet ends up being worth the wait. I don't mind waiting a little extra if the experience is going to be special!

After that we hopped over to see Baymax!

Up next..We meet MORE characters!

Cute meets!!! Too bad FEA wasn't running but Joy & Sadness is a great consolation prize. Their meet area is so cute. And who doesn't love a little Baymax in their lives?!
