Compromise is a Disney word: Taking one for the team over Thanksgiving 2016* August PTR link! 5/28

Ladies. And any man that dares continue to read. I knew Steve was asking the driver the wrong thing. However he'd been so aggravated after his whole trip from Beach Club TO FW, and then calmed down and had such a great dinner, I didn't want to argue with him. You know how you pick your battles? I decided to leave this one alone and get on the bus. And that's how we ended up going to WL instead of directly to HS :thumbsup2
Smh, right?? Chad better not pull any of this on this trip, because he KNOWS I know better. Of course, I won't be safe on any subsequent trips, though. Because he will know it all by then...lol.

I REALLY wanted to make that TOT FP, which we did!
Yay!

Nobody was THAT hungry for desserts except me; I'd been anxiously awaiting this!
A gal after my own heart!

No holiday outfit character meet at AK, no Santa Goofy meet at HS :(
You know how much I can relate to plans being tossed out the window.... :(

I wanted to turn around and say something but we all know you can't just do that.........
I would've really, really wanted to, as well. But, as much as I would have hated to do it, I would've bitten my tongue. But I'm sure I would've given lots of side eye!

I really, really enjoyed the show.
Good to hear!

Is it weird that when we go by resorts at night, I think about the rooms with lights on and what the people in them are doing? Yeah.......now that I write that out it sounds pretty weird...........
STALKER!

We had a really nice Thanksgiving, SO much better than last years' Disney stomach bug!
So very glad to read this!

OMG I have missed so much! It looks like you guys had a fantastic time at HS, and that's so awesome that you guys enjoyed your dinner at Trails End!
Those sangrias at AK looked fantastic!
I'm super jealous you got to go to Universal for travel agent training!!!! That is so cool, I can't wait to hear about that trip too. However, I am most jealous of your plans to return to WDW!!! I can't wait to read more. :)

Ok I'm so with you on trying to tell guys what to do...and it not being worth the fight. I love just having that "I told you so" moment...even if I don't say it out loud. Vindication.

Glad they enjoyed the dessert party. My family is also very anti-show of any kind. I've love to do another dessert party in the future though.

Oh no on getting on the wrong bus. I completely agree on choosing the battles. My girls are in there twenties now but when they were teenagers I definitely would choose the battles and let the little things slide. Just not worth the fight sometimes. Oddly enough I don't have that problem with my son.

I'm glad you enjoyed the dessert party. I love desserts so that's right up my alley. What's with the glasses? Are you given glasses if you aren't at the party? :cool1:

Steve and the buses :rotfl:You are so right about choosing your battles good call ;)
That's great they had chairs sorry you weren't able to get pics with Santa Goofy but glad everyone had a good view of the show and fireworks.
How nice being able to walk back from HS and not have to deal with the long lines for buses and boats.
I hope they have the show again this Thanksgiving especially staying at the BC.
Love all your pics :goodvibes

Ok, all caught back up. Hope your finger and Ricky's leg are better. So happy Thanksgiving was a hit (well except for Steve's lack of listening skills). You totally deserved it after all you had to endure last year.

Glad this years Thanksgiving was better! The bus system aggravates me! That's why I love having my car and drive everywhere but MK if I can! Glad everyone liked JBjB! I really enjoyed it. Hoping it's back this year so we can get a better view of it. I'm still not sold on a Desert Psrty yet. If I ate more sweets it would be right up my alley!

Oh boy, I don't know where to start! He likes/liked this girl but she just wants to be good friends, or so she says. So he moved on but they're very good friends and hang out A LOT. However if he isn't free when she wants to see him, or is busy when she wants to facetime or if another girl shows interest in him-man, she's all over the girl and him. So I'm convinced she likes him and for some reason doesn't want to date yet? Or isn't sure she likes him and doesn't want anyone else to have him until she decides? She is very nice though and I like her. And I'm glad Ricky isn't pining over her and doesn't sit around waiting for her; he's a good friend to her but does what he wants with who he wants and tells her she has to deal with it since she's not his GF. But I joke that they act like they're dating. And bottom line I'm 100% fine with him not seriously dating, because regardless of what I did at almost 15 I think my baby boy is too young!!!
Sounds like you are raising him well!! I am still not ready for that!

He really wanted another Epcot resort for our May trip but I won out again with WL :thumbsup2 He liked AKL a lot too, but did keep commenting on having to take buses to all the parks!
Have you seen the new bar/restaurant for WL? Looks good! Perfect for adult only trips!

You should! If you do post a link in your signature and I'll definitely head over for a read :surfweb:
I will will read along as well!

The boys were anxious to get to the viewing area and were pushing to leave without seeing him and after asking them to stay for the meet a few times I gave up. No holiday outfit character meet at AK, no Santa Goofy meet at HS
Truly a trip of compromising! But I totally get "giving" up and just moving on.

This is huge for Chris because whenever we watch anything he complains that he can't see
This is my oldest... ALL the time. And you will see that in trip report once I start it...

Hi Ariane! Your trip sounds amazing! Glad to see you enjoyed your Universal work trip too...
We did have a great trip, thanks! And I'm really glad I went to the Universal training, even though there were a couple "ugh" moments. I'm really hoping to start that TR soon.......

I was shaking my head during the bus moment, because I just KNEW what was going to happen. Sometimes we have to let them dig their own graves, lol!
::yes:: Yes, exactly! And this was one of those times where I knew it would be best to go with what he thought was right lol and then keep silent when he realized his mistake ;)

JBJB changing to all seated tables was really nice. I'm glad you guys ended up with a table, and I'm happy Disney decided to change the seating after getting a few shows under their belt.
I'm glad they added tables too, I think it was the #1 complaint after the first few parties.

I'm sad you didn't get to meet Santa Goofy!!
I kind of am too, even though it didn't ruin the night :( I SO wanted a Disney character in holiday attire Christmas card again and I'm SO not thrilled with the Christmas card we had, and I guess if we'd met Santa Goofy even with the dark lighting there would've been a chance it could have come out good enough to use.......but, hindsight is 20/20. I have plenty of things I'm going to gently force them to do on our next trip!

Speaking of projections...I'm so curious to see how the new Happily Ever After incorporates them with the fireworks at MK. I am hoping it ends up being like Disneyland Forever, because it's the only thing I've ever seen that comes close to Wishes for me. It was spectacular!
I'm very curious too and I'm glad to hear you loved Disneyland Forever that much because I'm also so incredibly sad that Wishes is going away. I'm so glad we both get to see Wishes one more time before it leaves
Smh, right?? Chad better not pull any of this on this trip, because he KNOWS I know better. Of course, I won't be safe on any subsequent trips, though. Because he will know it all by then...lol.
LOL! I don't think Steve would have pulled that if it were his first time, so I think you're safe this June! But after that yeah, look out!

You know how much I can relate to plans being tossed out the window.... :(
Unfortunately yes I know that, but I'm 100% positive your plans will stay (mostly) on schedule this time :thumbsup2

It looks like you guys had a fantastic time at HS, and that's so awesome that you guys enjoyed your dinner at Trails End!
We really did have a great Thanksgiving, from our RD at HS to the JBJB dessert party :goodvibes Last year I woke up on Thanksgiving, in Disney, with the stomach but so all our plans got nixed and even the next day was half shot, so this was a big and much welcome improvement!

I'm super jealous you got to go to Universal for travel agent training!!!! That is so cool, I can't wait to hear about that trip too
I'm very glad I went and I'm anxious to start that report, I just need a few more hours in the day lol.

Ok I'm so with you on trying to tell guys what to do...and it not being worth the fight. I love just having that "I told you so" moment...even if I don't say it out loud. Vindication.
That's exactly what this was! I kept my mouth shut when we finally got to HS but I do believe I shot him a look of some type :sad2:

Glad they enjoyed the dessert party. My family is also very anti-show of any kind. I've love to do another dessert party in the future though.
Mine are ok with some shows but in general Steve isn't a fan of dessert parties. We did the Wishes one back in 2012 and neither of us thought it was great or even a good value, and since then he's been down on them. He was pretty uncertain about this one and still wasn't thrilled with the desserts, and I did ask him if he'd be interested in doing the Illuminations desert party this year and that answer was a resounding NO so I think we're done with dessert parties for awhile.

I'm glad you enjoyed the dessert party. I love desserts so that's right up my alley. What's with the glasses? Are you given glasses if you aren't at the party?
Dessert is my favorite part of any meal so "dessert party" speaks to me lol. The glasses are pretty cool, when you put them on most of the lights around the park turn into something different related to the season. Kind of 3D-ish. I don't think you could get them unless you attended the party, and in 2015 you could only get them if you were an AP holder. They were giving them out to view Osborne Lights and the lights in that would dance like snowflakes and snowmen. Although I think I heard that by the last week of the Osborne Lights they were giving the glasses out to everyone.

Steve and the buses :rotfl:You are so right about choosing your battles good call ;)
Yup, I think it's something every parent learns, and most wives, too :rotfl2:

How nice being able to walk back from HS and not have to deal with the long lines for buses and boats.
You'll get to do that in Nov. when you stay at Beach Club! It's so convenient and whether coming from HS or Epcot, as long as the weather is nice both walks are so pretty at night :goodvibes

I hope they have the show again this Thanksgiving especially staying at the BC.
My guess, and it's just my opinion, is that they will unless they come up with another holiday show. Overall I think it got decent reviews and many people were very happy to have another holiday-ish show, especially at HS.

Ok, all caught back up.
You were a busy Dis gal today princess:

Hope your finger and Ricky's leg are better.
Finger yes, leg, eh. It doesn't hurt unless he 1. jumps 2. straightens it up completely 3. knocks into something but yet he begged to play in his school games last week and gave me a hard time yesterday about wanting to play in his rec games this weekend :sad2: He goes back to the Dr. on the 28th and we're hoping he'll be able to finish the season on his one rec team and play in the All Star game for the other.

So happy Thanksgiving was a hit (well except for Steve's lack of listening skills). You totally deserved it after all you had to endure last year.
I DID deserve it, didn't I :snooty:

The bus system aggravates me! That's why I love having my car and drive everywhere but MK if I can!
Steve is a huge disliker of the bus system in general lol but tolerates it to a point. He'd much rather have a car and if we lived closer we'd probably drive so he had it, but he sees renting a car as an unnecessary expense. The first time we went car-less was our first stay on Disney property back in 2007 and it was a big adjustment for him!

Glad everyone liked JBjB! I really enjoyed it. Hoping it's back this year so we can get a better view of it.
I said this above but in my opinion, I think they will. I know some were mad they stopped the SW fireworks for a few weeks in favor of JBJB and some didn't think the show was cohesive enough, but overall I think it got decent enough reviews for them to bring it back :)

Sounds like you are raising him well!! I am still not ready for that!
:thanks: I don't think any of us can ever be ready for it :(

Have you seen the new bar/restaurant for WL? Looks good! Perfect for adult only trips!
Yes, very excited to try it! Plus @ArielSRL sent me a picture of the Moscato Colada they have there and I NEED to try that for reporting purposes :rolleyes1

This is my oldest... ALL the time. And you will see that in trip report once I start it...
Get that started! Lol I know you have your new PTR started and it's hard keeping up with 2 reports at the same time!

Hi!!
I took like a 2 year break from the disboards but I'm back and just found your TR! :hyper:
I'm working on catching up, so far I just read your intro.
ALL QUESTIONS I WOULDN'T KNOW THE ANSWERS TO UNTIL 2 DAYS BEFORE OUR 11/19 DEPARTURE DAY!!!!!
I just would not be able to deal with that stress! Sounds like it all worked out though and I can't wait to read more...

Hi!!

OMIGHOSH hello there!! I got so excited when I saw you'd commented here :goodvibes How is that baby doing? That baby who's almost a toddler lol!

I just would not be able to deal with that stress! Sounds like it all worked out though and I can't wait to read more...
Ugh, it WAS stressful :sad2: I seriously thought at one point the trip was going to be cancelled and was depressed. Luckily it did work out and we really had no negative consequences to speak of as a result of all the nonsense that happened beforehand!
I'm so glad you're back!

He wanted me to change it to his first MK fave, BTMMR, which had just opened back up that day. I explained this to him and said I doubted there'd be any FP's as initially they hadn't released any...........but lo and behold, I logged on and there were tons! So we switched and he was happy.

Wow! :cool1:

IMG_4415_zpshlowgdah.jpg

Beautiful!

We couldn't stay in the mansion since there's only room for one more Happy Haunt and we were a package deal, so we left Liberty Square and went to ride the extremely-recently refurbed BTMRR.

:rotfl2:

Fun fact about Trader Sam: the red and white "skirt" he's wearing? That material is from the original Jungle Cruise boat roofing. I don't remember when they said they changed to the plain material the boats have now, but it's something we learned on the KTTK tour :)

Awesome! I never heard that before.

You look adorable. Love the shirt.

Awesome!

OK you got me! I took this picture once we were inside the park, not on the walk :o But whatevs, it's my report and I can say what I want to! Truly though when you're walking to HS it's a very pretty sight to see as you approach.

:rotfl2:

"No big deal, it's just mommy's favorite ride that I love almost as much as you and Ricky but, no biggie. We'll just do what YOU want to do ALL DAY". And Whitney is texting that her friend Miranda is on line for TOT and I'm texting that our FP window is ending and Chris won't ride and I'm sad, when all of a sudden Chris says he's not happy about it but he'll ride!
Do you think I told him he didn't have to?
Do you think I almost pulled his arm out of the socket trying to get there within 5 minutes after our FP window ended?
Do you think I texted Whitney that "HE JUST SAID HE'LL RIDE TOT WITH ME!!!!"

I'm cracking up at this!

After awhile I had to get tough and pretty much threaten him to get out of the pool. He just kept saying "nope" to me when I told him it was time to go and the lifeguard that was near him was laughing. Finally I gathered up all our stuff, said good-bye to him and started walking to the gate, which only worked when I yelled, "I'm going to get dinner!" Otherwise he wouldn't have cared that I was leaving him there.

:rotfl:

A Little OT PTR For My Dis Peeps
So it's been very hard for me not to start a PTR for my upcoming trips, let alone a TR for the Universal training I just did :scared: Instead I'm going to post our March plans here just to make myself feel better. I'm trying very hard to hold off doing the Uni TR (which I'm going to combine with our March and May trips) until I finish this one, we'll see if I can do it!

MARCH TRIP:
When: March 25-28th
Where: CSR
Who: Adults only! Steve and I

This is a quick 3 night trip that was planned AFTER our May trip was planned, because Steve decided he couldn't go from Nov. to May with no vacation. Who am I to argue?? What works great is that my youngest stepson Eric is laid off until April 1st (he works for a pool company, installing pools) so he's staying here with the boys and they are thrilled. The other thing that works great is that we're flying in to Orlando real early on the 25th, getting in at 9:15am, so we actually have that whole day. Then on the 28th we don't leave until 8:30 at night, so really we have 4 park days :thumbsup2 My plans have already changed from what I originally had due to Disney FINALLY getting RoL up and running and taking away Wishes, so I had to adjust to fit both in. I managed to get a dining package for RoL the day after they were released, not because I really wanted one but I figured I had a better shot at that than getting a FP since I was a day late. I was away at my training too and didn't have much time to look, and just happened to check for the dining packages first.

Saturday, March 25th
Land 9:15 (fingers crossed!) stop at resort and go to
EPCOT
Start eating and drinking all the F&W booth goodies
FP's for Soarin' and SE beginning 5:20
**I originally had a 12:30 lunch ADR at Homecoming figuring we'd then hit up the booths later in the day, but Steve wasn't liking the idea of going to DS first. So I cancelled Homecoming for now but I'll get there eventually! I'll be fine with the booths all day I'm sure but Steve will probably need something more substantial, so I assume we'll go to the QS in Mexico or Morocco later at night.

Sunday, March 26th
Magic Kingdom probably around 9:30ish
FP's for 7DMT, BTMRR, Space.
FP's start at 10:30 and go until 12:30; I had planned on staying at MK until mid afternoon and then going back to Epcot UNTIL Disney announced RoL was opening. So now we'll try getting on BTMRR and Space (our later FP's) SB, get to Epcot ASAP to spend some time there before going to AK. We have the RoL Tiffins dining package booked with dinner at 5:35 and the show at 8:45. I'd like to get on EE after dark, see some of the Tree of Life Awakenings again and if I can catch my African acrobats, my night will be perfect :goodvibes

Monday, March 27th
HS, MK, maybe Epcot?
First we have the Wave breakfast booked for 10am. I've wanted to try this, just not sure if we'll keep it. RoL and Wishes ending has messed up the trip a little bit as we're now spending less time in Epcot than I'd planned and not trying Jellyrolls, so it's really good we have our May trip to do that and more F&G! But still not sure if I want to spend time at a TS breakfast or no. The way we like to eat - we'll probably keep it!
FP's for RnRc and TOT starting at noon
Citricos dinner 5:50
MK -Wishes for the last time :sad1:
Other than the rides we have FP for in HS there isn't anything else we'll do there so we'll have time to do something between there and dinner. Epcot? Back to resort? IDK and that's OK. I'd prefer cancelling Citricos and eating more at Epcot but if I haven't mentioned this before, it's Steve's one request for this trip.

Tuesday, March 28th
MK, Epcot
Our last day, but I won't be completely sad since we'll be back 2 months later! However I always pretty much need to be somewhere at RD on my last day and since we haven't experienced the new opening show/procedure at MK I'd like to do it today, if only so I can explain it to clients. You'll notice I have 2 of the same FP's today that I have on the 26th but Splash instead of Space, I just can't remember without looking what time they start exactly.
We won't have to catch DME until about 5:30 so hopefully by 12 or 1 the latest we'll be over in Epcot eating and drinking again until we go back to the resort to head home.

I know some of you who didn't read about our adults only trip last Aug. are probably saying, "I can't believe she isn't planning out more where they'll eat! Can they really eat so often at the food booths??!" "Why isn't she accounting for every hour of every day??!" First off, one of the best things about going without the kids is the ability to NOT plan so much, and to be able to make/change plans spur of the moment. That's pretty much how our kid-free trips have been. And because of that I know we'll have no problem getting in at a TS somewhere if we decide we want to, rather than eating at the booths. Same way all those park plans I have could totally go out the window! Even though my kids aren't small anymore it's still better to have more of a plan when they're with us. I love the freedom to change things up at the drop of a hat when it's just us :thumbsup2

Thanks for dealing with all my words! I'll get on to our Black Friday fun in my next post!

Awesome! I never heard that before.
The Trader Sam skirt thing is something we learned on the KTTK tour, great tour! Then we did the UnDiscovered Futureworld tour over in Epcot last August and are hoping to do another tour on our May trip. Have to do them when we don't have the kids with us since they aren't old enough to do most of them yet!

You look adorable. Love the shirt.
:thanks:

Oh and I see a ticker in your signature! How exciting :goodvibes

Yay! I'm excited for a mini PTR within the TR! And I'm so glad you are doing ROL, seeing Wishes, and experiencing MK rope drop. I will expect reports from all of those! ;)

Just a little over a month away! Oh and I hope you had a great birthday today!! :bday:party::drinking1

Your March plans sound good! Glad you are squeezing in Wishes one last time! I can't wait for F&G myself! And I'm really liking the lack of planning going into this trip myself. I feel like I have sooo many options... Also guess who finally watched Avatar?!?!? I am now ready and super excited for Pandora opening! :goodvibes

I'm already so excited for your March trip after that little tidbit of a PTR! :) I'm glad you'll get a chance to see Wishes again. We're excited about a lot of things for our August Disneymoon, but I'm pretty disappointed that Wishes will be gone by then. I know I'm still pretty young, but I remember watching it as a kid on family trips and it's just so nostalgic and means a lot to so many of us... I'll be interested to compare the new show though. I'm a big music nerd and I did my degree in classical music, so one of the biggest things that impacts how I feel about a nighttime spectacular is soundtrack, and the new one sounds like it's going to be good!

I agree that it's easier when you're a small group/adults to go without too much of a touring plan. That's how we're planning to spend a lot of the Disneymoon, with the exception of some ADRs and FPs. But I'm already worrying about DF's family who will be visiting for the first time for the wedding and won't likely be very open to the idea of arriving at the parks before rope drop and having a touring plan...there'll be 5 of them...Canadians in the heat of a Florida summer...most of them hate waiting in line for stuff...still working on persuading them... haha (I wish we could tour the park with them and give them a little guidance, but they're planning to do their park day [possibly only one day...] the day before our wedding, and we expect to be a little busy that day! :P)

Can't wait to hear your review of RoL. I'm not sure how I'll feel about it, but I'm definitely looking forward to experiencing it at least once no matter what.
