Just got back from our vacation at the Grand Floridian Villas, It smelled like mildew and dirty feet for the first two days in the lobby then the smell went away or I just got used to it ! When I first walked in the room to put away my stuff in the drawers it was very dusty like it never been dusted, in the shower was hair ,on the balcony outside was filled with spider webs, very bad mouse keeping I stopped at the grocery store to get cold cuts and milk put it in the fridge and came back everything was ruined at 1 AM I had maintenance bring up a new fridge I did ask to talk to management and they want to replace my stuff I told him it was only $20 worth of stuff and not even worry about it and I wasn't looking for any kind of compensation or any money back I just want to let them know for future guest checking into this room that it was not up to par but they did put a nice credit on my account that was very nice of Mark one of the managers there my overall experiences the rooms are very small would not return back to the Grand Floridian I think there's way too many nice resorts to use your points that just my thought don't know if anybody else felt this way as well .I do like the bathroom in the room, glass showers are always a plus but not enough to justify another stay there.

Sorry to hear you had a bad experience. We stayed there earlier this year and loved it.

Oh my gosh. We also just got back and we can't say enough nice about the resort.

It was fresh, clean and welcoming every day that we were there.

We loved it so much that instead of booking Beach Club for our September vacation, we are back at the Grand.

We checked in on December 4 and just got back yesterday when did you go if you was there on December 4 did you notice a horrible smell in the lobby

We checked out on the 3rd.

But for it to envelope the entire lobby and take days to get rid of, I'm surprised that we didn't notice it just one day before.

Did you ask what it was?

No we never asked, my wife thought it was just the smell of the fountain in the lobby but it was worse to me.

We were there Nov 28 to Dec 2, no bad smell noticed anywhere. We had a HA studio, not requested, so we did not have the split bathroom, which is one of the reasons we like the VGF, but it worked.

Sorry you had this bad experience.

Too bad. Not every resort is for every taste. As for us, we found it clean and quiet. All I could notice was the smell of flowers in the lobby when we visited.

If your room was not cleaned properly for check-in you should have notified mgmt immediately. Perhaps you were assigned the incorrect room.

Here now, only issue is that the kitchen sink and tub drain seem slow. I saw a couple of seasoned maintenance manager types inspecting the lobby fountain joints, maybe it has a leak and that caused the smell. Each stay here has been the best of all of the DVC resorts, clean and well maintained rooms. The room that we are in now looks the same as when the resort first opened other than some marks on the coffee table top. IMO they have a bigger budget to work with and they treat it like it's their flagship resort. They have a lady who does nothing but wipe down and sweep the public areas at VGF, 8 hours a day.

We stayed there in a one bedroom in October. I thought it was beautiful and had a fantastic stay. Sorry your stay was less than magical.

We were there Nov 28 - Dec 1. We did when walking around the building we did notice that the grand villa on the first floor looked like it was being dried out one day. Mattresses up against the walls, industrial floor dryers out on the patio. Between that and what you are reporting sounds like a water mishap in that area to me.

I also noticed a woman cleaning the carpet right in front of the front door. I didn't like the cleaner smell but I'm sensitive to those sometimes. Everything else was great for us. (Well husband thought the studio was too small but that's another topic.)

Perhaps your husband is not used to staying in studios, because the studio at VGF is the third largest at WDW. PVB is the large at 447 Square feet, OKW at 390 and VGF at 374 square feet.

I am glad to hear that everything was fine except for the water problems in a nearby GV.

we only stayed one night and enjoyed it. we had a partial lake view and left the sliding glass balcony door open while we slept. we were awakened very early to the sounds of boat horns. it was neat for one night but might get old for several days.

We visited 12/2 - 12/12 and find it increasingly difficult to consider staying at other DVC resorts. Our VGF stays are generally 10-12 days and we regularly observe daily maintenance on the building and grounds. After five years of membership and more than 18 trips, we have yet to see similar activity at another DVC resort.

If the boat horns bothered you from VGF, don't stay at the Poly which is right next to the boat landing. We keep the door closed and run the air. We don't notice the horns.

Well after reading these posts, I think it's clear to say the vast majority loves GFV.

I actually have the option of either 3 nights at BCV (which we haven't stayed at) or 3 nights at GFV (Which we've never stayed) Obviously some more pts. at the latter of the two. On such a short trip with a day at MK, EPCOT & AK and some afternoon swimming & the check out day as well, WWYC ? Thanks in advance.

The deluxe resorts and lobbies are all wonderful, the DVC rooms okay but everything at VGF is above all the rest.

If I have the option to swim, I pick BCV. I enjoy VGF in the holiday season primarily.
