Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

This is from minutes ago: Star Wars Force awakens playing bottom right, Star Wars fireworks same time.
The volleyball court is center, closer to camera, to left of movie screen.
Oh: the movie screen faces the right side of my photo - I.e., I'm looking at the back of the screen. You sit on the other side, away from the volleyball court, towards stomalong bay.

Thats a nice spot, there is alot of lawn to sit on there, and I noticed (our room overlooked this area in May) that the Sandcastle Club kids get taken out to that area for outdoor games too during the day.

Photo of the roping at the water line and the sidewalk/beach line - you can see the constantly patrolling CM (recreation type cm - I.e. Very friendly, most people seem to think she/he is there to give directions etc.) at bottom right. They did the ropes in a nautical way, so it does go with the theme. The look doesn't bother me, a non-veteran, but yes it would be nice to walk on the sand a bit.
2nd photo: two people with a working dog just went by. The dog Sniffed every area of shrubbery near our room near the volleyball court and the guys moved back plants to look. ETA: later posters who have stayed here before said they have had people with working dogs sniffing for duck nests in past years. Makes sense.

we have booked garden/lagoon view room for dec 14-21... as that is the only dates i could get but i really want one more day. i keep checking for dec 13 but no luck - i was able to get the dec 22 added on to the end. since this is so close to christmas, i really want the 13 instead.

i see i can upgrade to a water view room for the 13-21 (more $). because we want quiet and more private, we are really hoping for that far wing (that faces the swan maybe?). it's the far corner of the resort, as far away from main resort and beach club/international gateway side as possible.

it appears from the room map view, there are very few garden view rooms... all i can see are 1012-1030, which looks like about 10 rooms on each floor. if we would be guaranteed one of those rooms, i would keep it for the discounted price and accept the dates i have.

SO does anyone know if are there more garden view rooms than just that little chunk that i see from 1012-1030? <- kinda rambling, not even sure if this makes sense! :)

I suck at reading maps!

At the YC, I believe the rooms that overlook the back entrance courtyard (lakeside) and the rooms that overlook the wedding gazebo from the side (there are many) are considered garden view. The rooms in these areas would be more active than the ones in the far wing you are referencing. Unfortunately, the only map I have with view categories listed is very old, prior to rooms being classified as garden view.

Please add us to the BOG list for Sept 18-20 YC CL LV. From there we are 6 nights at the BWI.

:welcome: back!

I'll add you to the list.

:woohoo:

Thank you, yes that is what I was asking, I appreciate you asking. I was just wondering if you are being charged extra for the sandpail. We are staying there 10 nights and will probably getting lunch their at least 5 days, so no need for that many pails.

My suggestion- although it is policy that the meals are the same price with or without the sand pails, if you have gotten a couple of meals already, you could try explaining that to the cashier. Explain nicely that you already have more buckets than you need from prior orders.

We purchased two kids meal on our first trip to the Beach Club. We also ended up with a bunch of candy that was left for us in our room erroneously along with a birthday card (hope you got your candy Mike, after we reported the mistake). On the last morning of our trip, we tried to give away the (unused) buckets filled with packaged candy treats to people in the Marketplace but it took us 3-4 families before we found someone who would take them.

::yes::

Our target has a new method brand scent for summer called "sweet citrus" and I totally think it smells like BC/YC lobby. Am I remembering the scent correctly? Has anyone else tried it?

Thanks for the heads up on this. What are the products? candles? beauty products? something else?

:cool2:

Just wanted to say hello. We're staying at YC club level for the first time in a few weeks, after getting an AP rate that was cheaper than our original booking at BC. I'll be watching this thread with interest.

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list. July?

Let us know if you have any questions.

:cool1:

Hello BC/YC Friends! I don't post a lot, but wanted to say I love this thread so much! One of the friendliest, nicest, most helpful groups around!!!! I appreciate all the info I have gotten from this group!

I am headed to WDW this week & will be staying at BLT. Of course we will walk around the Boardwalk & go into all the resort lobbies & shops. While at BC, we will think of our friend Teena & her beloved Bob. Teena was so helpful & friendly to my family on our trips to BC & BCV. We will miss seeing her & wish her the best!

I hope you all have a Magical day!

Thank you so much for the kind words! Have a fantastic trip.

I touched base with Teena yesterday, checking in on her with the heat. Jeanne is done with the school year, thankfully, because her classroom gets very hot. Teena is staying inside, except for doctors appointments due to the heat.

2nd photo is new to me: two serious people with a working dog just went by 7am. The dog Sniffed every area of shrubbery near our room near the volleyball court and the guys moved back plants to look. The two men looked to be trained security k9 people. Disney attire but they were clearly professional security. Wondering if this is new.

Thanks for those helpful photos.

May I post your first picture on Page 1. I am going to try to keep up with the rapidly changing beach/water news and post the info in the first post.

My comments on the second picture with the security team with the dog. This makes me both relieved and sad at the same time.

Thanks for posting the picture of the new fence at the beach. I was very curious to see what they were going to do there. I don't think that the fence looks bad at all. The water never looked too appealing anyway.

It looks like they left the bench swing on the beach. Did they remove the lounge chairs?

I've never seen them use dogs to search the bushes before. Maybe they are looking for alligator nests.

Thanks for the great job of reporting. There are a lot of new things happening right now, so of course we all want to know what they are. ;)

While at Boardwalk last fall, we saw the same K9 search teams. The handlers indicated that it was to sniff out and locate duck nests. The dogs found the nests and the handlers shake the eggs so they do not hatch. When the eggs don't hatch, the duck parents move on. This was an effort to eliminate/diminish the duck population that frequently swim (and make nasty messes) in the pools and beg at guests' feet for food. While we were at Boardwalk last fall, we did notice an appreciable difference in the duck population. :)

Before I head off to work, I am reposting a warning from one of my TA friends about a recent scam that has been hitting the Orlando area:

A call will come to your room, and they will say it's the front desk, they WILL have your name so it seems legit. They will say there is a credit card issue for your account, and ask if you could verify the numbers over the phone. DO NOT give the information, tell them you'll come down to the front desk and clear up the problem. They may insist to not "inconvenience" you, but stand your ground - do not give your information - it is a scam!

PS- don't order pizza from flyers slipped under your resort door!

:sad2:

Wow, this is so scary! Thanks for the heads up!!!

Maybe that is in direct response to the ducks that were always present at SAB this trip...many more than I have seen before.

Already envious of those with trips coming soon! We just got back and already missing it. October can't come soon enough!

We never had an issue with ducks at YC during our stay there three years ago. We did however have issues. With them at the boat dock at MK for the WL boats!! A family of ducks assaulted guests regularly over there and snatched a cupcake out of my hands ( covered up but I guess they knew) that I was trying to take back to our room:crazy:They are nasty little birds when they don't get what they expect. We don't feed them and neither did anyone else, so at least we know the signs saying don't feed the birds was understood and adhered to. I like to see the ducks and often get over to Tom Sawyers Island and use the bird feeders there to feed those ones with appropriate bird seed. Best advice is leave them alone and appreciate them for being themselves.

That makes a lot of sense. They use dogs at some of the local country clubs and parks where I live to scare away the Canadian geese. They are a big problem around here.

A question on occupancy and sleeping arrangements in the BCV studios. We have rented a BCV studio for January with the plans for my husband and 13 year old twin daughters to go. My son (who is 18) has now indicated he would like to go as well. I'm aware that with the new refurbs at the BCV studios that it has a 5 person occupancy with one of those people sleeping on the fold down murphy bed. However, from everything I've read, I think that bed would not work for my 18 year old son. Does anyone know that since the occupancy allows for 5 if I can request a rollaway bed instead? I know the studios aren't that big, so will it even fit if I could get one? I'd love for him to come along, but it makes it tough to see how I'm going to work that out with the studio configuration. Thanks for any insights!

I do not think rollaways are permitted, only an air mattress that you would bring would be.
IMO, in the studio with an air mattress with 5 people you would be "tripping" over each other.:scared1: On our recent Poly trip in May, our older DS did not know if he could join us because of work commitments for that night till very last minute. I booked the studio for DH, me, and our soon to be 21 year old DS, thinking that the 1 night would be only the three of us, rather than 4 including our eldest DS. So, our 2 DS will NOT sleep together, and our 6'4 youngest DS was a great brother and let his older brother have the pullout sofa and he slept on the murphy bed. He said the mattress was very comfortable, but BE CAREFUL to not hit your head if you get up quickly on the murphy bed. Was only for 1 night so we "made due", but we all had a BLAST at the Poly!:thumbsup2 ENJOY your BCV stay; can't wait for our October F&W stay!:goodvibes::yes::

The rope fence is probably the best they could do with what they are trying to accomplish, it could have been worse I think. Still gonna miss this view though:

Thank you! That is what I expected, unfortunately. My son is around 5'9" and only weighs about 145 lbs, do you think he could reasonably sleep on the murphy bed?

So sad to be home from a relaxing 11 night stay at the BCVs. Our last few days were a little crazy-family from the Daytona area came in and grabbed a couple of nights at the BC so they could join us at SAB. We had a ball!

Once again, thank you so much for your live reports and successful missions during your trip!

:worship:

View pics from our room at the BCV...room 370. The balcony was fully covered and we were only a few doors away from the smaller elevator and a few doors the other way from the stairs to the parking lot, which was convenient for travels via car and loading/unloading. It was a renovated room and I previously posted pictures of the interior earlier.

Gorgeous pictures! Would you mind adding this post to the BCV view thread or giving me permission to. I'll link the thread here in a bit.

We were able to do one of the fireworks cruises into EPCOT from Bayside Marina. A really cool experience. They leave from the marina at around 8:15 and take a cruise down to HS first. Our captain had a lot of interesting info for us, some of which I knew, but some I didn't. They actually take you inside the park just past the bridge between France and England. Not an inexpensive experience but certainly a lot of fun. The boats take up to 10 people, but you reserve it for your group, they don't combine groups. They provide a few snacks (chips, popcorn, brownies, cookies, etc) and soft drinks and waters. They also allow you to bring on your own. We were initially told no glass but the captain said people bring glass on board. We didn't. Here are a couple of photos. It was a great way to end our trip as we did this the last night. So glad our family stayed the extra night and was able to enjoy it

More great pictures!

May I link this post to the first page where I have some other reviews of the Illuminations view?

Dee, please add us to the Be Our Guest list for 10/27-11/1 at the BCV. We were waiting to finalize our timing for our Wild Women girls trip!

Hello!
My husband and I just booked a little Labor Day weekend at the Beach Club without our kids! We are super pumped. We had the pleasure of doing this last year and it was amazing.
We have stayed at the Boardwalk, Contemporary and Poly several times in the last few years and are really excited to try a new hotel.

Looking forward to working my way through this thread. :flower1:

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.
