How fun! I apologize if this has already been shared but is there a picture of even list of the egg prize choices? I'd love to seem all though lol guess I will in person next week
I only did the egg hunt in Disneyland today (I might do it in the other parks next time I go) so I don't know if there are different egg prizes everywhere or if they're all the same. As far as I remember, there were 6 prize eggs, including the Cheshire Cat (who I got!), Woody, Jessie, Minnie, Mickey, & Stitch. Here's a picture of them: https://secure.parksandresorts.wdpr.../uploads/2016/02/Eggstravaganza-Eggs-2016.jpgHow fun! Thank you, all of you, for the egg-cellent pictures. I really appreciate it. I hope those of you who have already done the hunts have had a wonderful time.
Wow, that you did all 3 hunts in one day Sherry, very cool.
I'm going today! I think we will only do Disneyland, especially since the parks close so early tonight.
We had so much fun doing this last year, I can't wait!
Can anyone give me some hints about a few DCA spots? I've wandered and stared and wandered some more, but I'm still unable to find the Bug's Land egg, the Grizzly Peak truck, and the Grizzly River Run artist's camp.
(If these are some of the easy ones I'm going to feel so dumb -- or just blind -- but I want to find them before the sun goes down!)
Thanks in advance!
Yes. All 3. One of the reasons I did them on the first day is so that I could find the eggs myself and not be spoiled as to the locations of the eggs when people started revealing details and pictures! I am not personally giving any spoilers to anyone right now -- especially since the hunt just started. Other people can do that here in the thread if they want to and if people really want to know where the eggs can be found, but I'm not doing it here. I ran into people also hunting eggs all day long, and we usually commiserated when we couldn't find an egg -- but we all agreed that we didn't want to know where anything was located before we at least tried to find it. In fact, at one point I slipped and forgot and said "The other way" to one guy who was looking in the wrong place and heading in the wrong direction to find one egg. All I said was "The other way," and he said, "Don't tell us!!!!" People who like to hunt for things will not want to know where the eggs are, because it is the challenge of finding them that is the fun part.
Ultimately I did ask a couple of CMs to sort of guide me when I couldn't find a couple of eggs. I tried and then caved in and asked. They never volunteered any info unless I asked, but even then they only gave me hints like "You're getting cold, but you will be warmer if you go the other way."
In any case, this is what I did (I carefully planned it out in advance):
1. Because World of Disney opens later, I got my Downtown Disney map at Acorns Gifts & Goods (which opens at 8 a.m.) in the Grand Californian Hotel. That way I could begin the DTD hunt right away. I went around and found all the eggs in DTD before the parks even opened, and chatted with fellow egg scouts in DTD. There was only one DTD shop I could not yet get into to photograph the egg, as it didn't open until 10 a.m., but I could see the egg and I eventually went back and took a photo.
2. I went to World of Disney to collect my prize -- I got the Cheshire Cat egg shown in the photo on the Parks Blog.
3. I got a locker outside of the parks and stuffed my jacket, my DTD map and my prize egg in the locker so I wouldn't have to schlep them around all day.
4. After taking care of some stuff at the ticket booths, I went into California Adventure to purchase my map at Eliias & Co. I went around to do the hunt, and again chatted with a lot of fellow egg scouts. They would either see me taking a photo and know there was an egg in that spot, or I would see them or hear their kids loudly exclaim something along the lines of, "I found an egg! It's Pluto!!!" So a lot of the mystery was taken away for all of us because of those scenarios. No way to avoid it, though. Lots of people were doing the the hunt. It seemed like every 3rd or 4th person I saw had a map of some kind, wherever I went. There were some tricky-to-find eggs in DCA -- which alternately frustrated me and delighted me, because I wanted more of a challenge and I got it. Eventually I had to end up asking a couple of CMs because I had no idea where the eggs were. At least a couple of the clues were misleading again, as is the case every year.
I will say that 2 of my favorite hiding spots are in DCA.
5. Once I had applied all the stickers and finally found all of the eggs in DCA, I returned to Elias & Co. and got the Stitch prize egg.
6. I went back to the locker and stashed the DCA map and prize.
7. I then proceeded to Disneyland. I got my map at the Disney Showcase shop. I found the Disneyland eggs to be easier to spot than the DCA eggs. One guy/egg hunter warned me about a specific location being tricky, but I found that egg right away (just luck, I think). When I was done, I went back to the Showcase store and collected a Woody prize egg.
8. I went back to the locker and deposited my map and egg so I could continue my day.
There were no Disney rabbits out for photos yet (all together in one place), and the CMs I asked did not know what would be happening with that this year. There was also no strawberry shortcake at the Plaza Inn yet, which disappointed me.
All in all, it was a very tiring day... but a fun one. These egg hunts and maps are conversation starters, for sure! I've never had so many people come up to me at DLR and start conversations before -- not even when I previously did the other egg hunts. Lovely Cast Members and fun, friendly fellow park guests approached me all day to ask about the hunt, the maps, where to get the maps, what kinds of prizes there are, if I had done the hunt before, etc. I kept seeing the same people throughout the day -- in fact, one specific woman and I kept bumping into each other everywhere we went, and I forgot to ask her if she follows DISboards. She invited me to join her Disney-oriented Facebook group and I have to imagine that she follows the bigger Disney discussion sites because she is at the parks a lot (shout out to Heather, if you're out there reading!).
I saw one familiar guy (who I think I have seen at DLR before) taking photos of assorted things (not just eggs). I have a feeling he was a MiceAge/MiceChat photographer, but I will find that out soon if the pictures he was taking end up in a MiceAge piece.
