Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

Who knows about Martha's Vineyard lounge entertainment?

I was just reading a trip report with a bunch of guys doing an EPCOT resort bar crawl. I think it was a Friday night. One stop was Martha's Vineyard, and there was a singer there. I didn't know that.

Anyone know how often they have entertainment there?

Where is this located? by the Yachtsman Steakhouse (not Crew's Cup)? Or in the BC?

Edited: I was thinking of the Ale and Compass lounge. My location below is right for that, but not for Marthas Vineyard.

It's off to the side in the YC lobby on the concierge desk side. I have never seen a singer in there and it seems rather small for that kind of set-up, but then again maybe they're floating new ideas/concepts  for entertainment out there? :charac2:

Martha's is next to the Cape May Cafe on the Beach Club side and they have been scheduling entertainment there off and on for a few months. Its totally hit or miss.

My post above on this item was incorrect..... I was thinking of the Ale and Compass lounge. Sorry.

Just back from my first stay at BC, visiting my CM DD. As I waited for DD to arrive, I MET TEENA! What a lovely woman! I felt a little awkward saying I'd heard about her (lol) but we ended up chatting for about 15 minutes! I explained that since my DD had moved to work for Disney in August, I had been to visit every month! (I have a VERY patient and understanding hubby! He came when we moved her and again Christmas week, but the other visits I've been solo!) We talked about moving to Florida once DH retires and Teena totally agreed that I should come visit as often as I can. She said she will miss Florida dearly, but since her husband passed away, she feels she needs to be near her DD and DGD. I really loved having the time to speak with her.

Our room was beautiful - fourth floor, full balcony, (requested with online checkin), view of the volleyball court & lake. Really liked the room, but I wish the coffee makers were nicer. DD and I drink tea every night and it was hard to fill the water reservoir. We ended up just buying a cup each on our way back to the room at night. The beds were so comfy. We ended up sleeping in a few mornings because we had some late nights. It was heavenly!

I must admit, I prefer the Yacht Club. Beach Club just seemed too out of the way, especially to get to the Friendship Boats. I also was surprised that the boats stopped running even with restaurants still seating at the Boardwalk. We expected to walk back from JellyRolls, but not from the Italian restaurant when there were still people coming in for dinner. Oh well.

The weather was nice enough to swim only on two days, but we had other plans those days. lol I really wanted a few hours at the hot tub, but it didn't work out this trip.
We ate lunch at Beaches & Cream - our first time ever, which is funny, since we are regular visitors! With all the hype, I expected to like it more.

Our favorites this trip were Afternoon Tea at the Grand Floridian, dinner at Narcoosee's with DD's friend since they have been 3 years old!, drinks with a good CM friend, dinner with two very dear to our hearts CM friends. I drove DD around to various stores and her apartment - my first time driving in Florida. I feel like an old pro now! Started to really learn my way around! We also had a lot of fun at JellyRolls! Such talent!

I was lucky to leave 30 inches of snow to visit my girl, and then my sweet DH was waiting for me when I was landed at 1 am, after a 2 hour delay!

Now on to Planning my next visit to see DD..... :tinker:

Reporting live from the YC . The pool hours are 10 am to 8 pm. We got the room with the shared balcony. I really like it. It's very big and so far I'm the only one using it. The room is in excellent shape. The rug and wallpaper are clean and perfect. The furiture has some scratches but nothing bad. Nothing looks like it needs to be replaced. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again before the referb. They do offer the texting service. I love the new lounge. Off in search of a Sunkin Treasure.

Awesome! :)

How are the reservations made for the breakfast and lunch at Be Our Guest these days? The same way as regular reservations or are they still doing some sort of FP thing? Do you still make reservations for lunch even though it is considered a QS meal?

TIA!!!

Thank you so much for your report! By the texting service, do you mean the online check in straight to your room? Have a great trip!!

BOG breakfast and lunch are reserved through the same dining reservations portal, as other restaurants. It has been that way for awhile, I believe, as I made lunch reservations that way last year.

As an aside, BOG is very allergy-friendly, allowing many substitutions by accessing the special link, when ordering in advance. Instead of delivering your food in the cart, they actually deliver by carrying it to your table.

Thank you both for the info!

Hello Everyone,
We can't stand the taste of the tap water, so this was a welcome gift and helped in the cost of buying water. Is the BC doing this, too?

Also, regarding Stormalong Bay slide: I've read you can't wait by the end to meet your kids, but I've read conflicting info about whether kids are allowed to wear life vests. What's been your experience regarding this? My youngest DS loved the slide at GF and CR, but he's not a thrill seeker. Is stormalong bay much faster and intense compared to those slides? TIA!

My, my... you are just full of water questions. That sounds like something up Ninja Mom's alley of exper-TEASE :fish:

To start with the Bottled water question, the BC has not ever offered complimentary bottles of water in the room that I've read about or experienced. I last stayed at the BC in August of 2015 during the infamous Band of Orange Monkees trip or what ever the heck it is called so that's how I know. http://www.disboards.com/threads/an...-monkeys-mono-monkeys-in-mexico-p-14.3445227/

I agree that the tap water in Florida tastes terrible which is ironic because I have been told MANY times that I have no taste.

Now we'll get to the Pool slide question. Ninja Mom has been down this slide a time or two and she has spent considerable time snorkling on the bottom of this area to see if any cash has fallen out of the children's pockets to fund her Sunken Treasure addiction. I know for a fact that parents are not allowed directly at the bottom of the slide to catch their children BUT they can be a couple of steps off to the side of the slide so that they can move in and fish out their water logged young 'uns from the area if need be. Most of the time the kids coming down this slide can dog paddle out of the way themselves and if Mom or Dad or Aunt Ninja Mom needs to give them a tug to speed things up then that's ok, as long as the tug boat captains are off to the side a couple of steps away.

So if your little Nemo is the type that can swim over to you a short distance away then for all practical purposes they can handle the slide at Stormalong Bay. If your little Nemo is the type that needs to be caught and saved from sinking then your best bet is to use the kiddie slide that is at the bottom of the steps to the Stormalong Bay slide which is ACROSS the lake path. (see map, LOWER RIGHT corner)

REMEMBER The STEPS to get to the TOP of the LARGE Stormalong Bay SLIDE are located in the same area of this kiddie pool. The entrance to the big slide steps are COMPLETELY SEPARATE from the kiddie pool area so "jail breaks" by the little kids over to the big slide are difficult to accomplish.

If you should find yourself fortunate enough to be in the area of the large slide pool exit and you hear a blood curdling scream issued from the rather chesty lungs of a middle aged woman (past her prime) It will more than likely be coming from Ninja Mom, who was lured to provide that spectacle with the promise of a Sunken Treasure. When hearing this alarming scream be sure to keep clear of the bottom of the pool slide as I have no brakes and I have been known to hydroplane across the pool clear into the middle of that pool volleyball game. You have received your warning!

Park hours are out for August so that means 3 weeks to our ADR day. Not that I'm overly excited and need to share :dogdance:

20 days for us! :-) Working on the ADR plan these days... I always end up thinking we are overbooking and decide not to book certain ones... and then 2 months before the trip realize that I should've booked them.. and then have to hunt for them daily! This time, I'm going to just book them all!
