I've been gone from Disney planning for a couple of years but am beginning to plan a trip for next Christmas. Can someone explain to me the Target gift card game again?? I've read through a few pages, but now I'm even more confused than before with the addition of ebates and eBay.. Help!

What works best really depends on a lot of factors. You have a year to plan so plenty of time to churn if that interests you. Buy Target gift cards at a discount if possible (e.g., from Raise or grocery store offering fuel points). Use gift cards online to buy Disney gift cards with red card set as default payment. Go through ebates and add something cheap that isn't excluded. You may get ebates on the whole purchase. Or, instead of jumping right to Disney, buy Ebay gift cards from Target. Use those on Ebay to buy Target gift cards. Go through ebates and make sure you have signed up for ebay bucks. Buy from gift card mall and hope they have a promotion so the cards are less than face value and shipping is free. If not, buy the highest denomination they have. Use those Target gift cards to buy Disney gift cards or repeat ebay purchase.

I'm averaging > 25% but I buy target gift cards at Kroger when they run 4x fuel points with amex blue preferred so that gets me 14% off. If I immediately use those to buy Disney gift cards I'm at 19%. If ebates works I'm around 21%. I have not had 3x or 4x eBay bucks on my account but have churned through eBay twice. I was close to 30% off the time gift card mall ran a promotion.

Generally avoid buying from individual sellers, and especially from sellers with negative reviews. Stick with a reputable commercial seller like Gift Card Mall.

You can rack up some really good savings. I currently have spent approximately $3700 on $5200 of gift cards so that is a 29% savings overall. HOWEVER, I would caution it is not for the faint of heart. If you are not a risk taker and don't want to deal with the hassle, then I would recommend buying off raise and immediately turning around and buying Disney gift cards to save 10-15%. That's easy-peasy. Adding in ebay definitely complicates because you have issues of gift cards being out of stock, trying to spend ebay bucks in the short window of time, having ebay gift cards when they run 4x/5x vs. having to change target gift cards over and then not coming in time...etc. To me it is worth it because of the savings, but I think it's important for people to realize that there is some planning, stress, and risk involved with multiple churning. There's no way my husband would do it - it's way too complicated for him and not worth the effort, but he loves that I can do it and he enjoys the savings.

If you do want to get into it, my advice is start slow and do a lot of reading on this thread. Before long, you'll get the hang of it and be churning with the best of us! Good luck and happy savings!

Couldn't you, theoretically, go back and forth using one to buy the other for as long as you wanted? Again, theoretically?

Theoretically yes...there is one maximum of $5000 in eBay gift cards redeemed by one VERIFIED PayPal account. However there are ways around that.

My total savings is currently 75.2% for the Disney gift cards I hold, and I just started this fall thanks to this thread. I kicked it off with $400 in cards that cost me nothing, as I churned two credit card reward programs. I don’t think the stars will ever align like that again for me, but when I realized what I could do all at once, I said ‘totally worth it’! Then I started on the Raise/Target thing. I haven’t included eBay because though I’ve been on eBay for 14 years, I have yet to receive an eBay Bucks promotion. (Sad.) Just think of any possible way through existing rewards programs that you can obtain a Target gift card. Other credit card rewards programs, Shopkick, etc. I only have to cover 4 tickets to DLR and some meals, but I will tell you that it is only because of this thread that we are able to go on this trip at all! And once you start, this is totally addicting! (And fun.)

Does anyone know if Disney GCs can be used on Castaway Cay? It states at their Theme Parks and on their cruises, but what about the actual island gift shop? Also, can Disney GCs be used to pay a cruise's tips for Mousekeeping and one's wait staff when exiting the ship? Pretty sure I read somewhere one could pay with GCs at the service desk of the ship for gratuities of wait staff/Mousekeeping. Sorry, I had a notebook full of researched tips for my upcoming cruise, and it gotwet/ruined. Thanks in advance.

I am thinking maybe I should by the ebay cards now to be ready if ebay suddenly has a 4x,5x ebay bucks deal this week(wishful thinking). So, if I do this I'd get 5% off buying the ebay gc's at Target. Adding a low cost item, I may get 2% back thru ebates right now. Now, wondering if I should go ahead and try a round of buying target cards for face value and shipping, right now, as Ebates is showing 5% deal for shopping Ebay right now. If I buy $600 in target gc's at Ebay, I'd get back $30 from Ebates then, correct? Does Ebates give cash back for gc's at Ebay? Or does this scenario not really work? I'd appreciate any tips on this, wanna take advantage of the 5% Ebates deal shopping at Ebay now if I can and it makes sense! TIA!

If you click on eBay while in ebates (mobile app doesn't seem to show it) it will give a breakdown of cash back amounts on various categories but gift cards are only 1% cash back usually through eBay

Usually, ebates is "up to" a certain amount for eBay but gift cards remain at a lower percentage, typically 1%. It is up to you as to whether you go ahead and purchase from eBay or wait for a promo. Kind of depends on how much time you have. I am waiting even though my trip is in April.

Yeah, I am having trouble also buying eBay from Target. It's been a problem all week. Definitely has me concerned the churning game may be ending.
