Did you ever take a WDW vacation that was too long?

In my book, there's no vacation length at WDW that would be too long for me. DH, however, was itching to leave by day 6 of our 8 day (8 day hoppers) trip. I blame that partly on the fact that it was two days of driving to get there, and he knew we had 2 more days of driving to get back home. If we flew, he'd probably have been fine. I am hoping for a two-week Fort Wilderness trip when DHS construction completes.

My husband and I did a ten day trip before kids, and we were so ready to go by the tenth day. But we did a lot of late nights and all day touring. Plus we stayed at POFQ, which we hated.

We just returned from a 9 night 10 day stay with our 4.5 year old daughter and my mom. I could've stayed longer. We take our time touring now with a little one, so it didn't seem as jam packed as our prior ten day trip! We also stayed at the Grand Floridian, which is not a bad place to stay for 10 days! ;)

I just got home a week ago from a 10 day trip and it was perfect! It was my longest trip to wdw. I never felt rushed, I got so much done and was able to do new things having more days than usual- we usually do a week. It was awesome. And I was even able to spend a day at Universal/IOA, since I never get to go there normally because I want my week long trips to be strictly Disney lol. It wasn't too long, it was just right!

Our typical vacation is 10 days and it's an absolutely perfect amount of time. You can see everything you want, and do them over a few times, without getting tired of it.

Whatever length of time you make your WDW vacation you realize it wasn't long enough the moment you come home and have to go back to work!

Our longest trip to-date has been 6 weeks long. We stayed from Thanksgiving to after New Years' several years back when we still were RV'ing. We obviously were at Fort Wilderness. We so enjoyed our time and I can say that I have no regrets. We had our golf cart, annual passes, kids (we home-schooled), dogs and our home away from home. The kids are all grown now, but we have fabulous memories that I wouldn't trade for anything. The only thing I will say ....... that some may perceive as a negative, is that after about week 4 life becomes so "normal" again. It's the usual "What's for dinner?" ...... And "We need clean towels/laundry." Regardless, it was worth it.

Same here - as far as tired of eating out. Our longest trip we only did one sit down meal (and that was at a Macaroni Grill in Kissimmee, LOL!). We had a nice two bedroom condo (Marriott's Sabal Palms) with a gas grill right outside our unit, so we ate in all larger meals (grilled chicken, burgers, brats, made salads, simple pasta meals, etc) and spent a lot of time relaxing!

We'd go to the parks for just about a half day most of the time, and also did mini golf once which was fun!

I also make very simple breakfasts and snacks when we stay at DVC villas. When we do that, usually we don't have a car, so I place a big order with Garden Grocer. Even when we do eat out, often it's quite hot in Orlando, and DD and I share meals. I can't eat the amount that they serve some places!

For much longer than a week, a condo with a kitchen is nice!

I'm with the group here on eating out -- gets really old really fast! Four nights/three days is my max with lodging that doesn't have a kitchen. And even on those four nights/three days it's not unusual for us to order in -- room service or pizza and just chill out and do a little swimming in the evening. I love the lovely offsite timeshare condos in the area such as Marriott's Sabal Palms, the place you mentioned. (I really enjoyed staying there too). There are so many nice timeshare resorts like this on in the area that I think are a fantastic option for a full week stay if you want to be down for a full week. I haven't had the pleasure of staying DVC, but have stayed at six different offsite timeshare condo resorts and found those to be great choices for a longer stay (In alphabetical order ones I've tried and I was pleased with each: Cypress Pointe, Cypress Pointe Grand Villas, Marriott Sabal Palms, Orange Lake, Polynesian Isles, and Sheraton Vistana Resort). I've done a house before too, but prefer the resort feel of the timeshare condos.

I never think our trips are long enough :) We started out going a week and gradually added a night - now we're at 12 nights and I could easily stay longer.

Never! WDW is a fun place and you can basically go 2 weeks and still with the will to stay! GO DISNEY!!

Last spring we went from mid-January through March - 10 weeks in all - part onsite part offsite. It was not too long. We're going for two weeks in December onsite (three resorts) and two weeks in June onsite (SOG). Then 10 weeks over F&W mostly offsite. APS are a wonderful thing.

We are trying to get the bang for our buck on our current AP and TIW. Then we plan to take a break for a couple of years. So this year we did 10 nights in BWV (got a beautifully refurbished 1 BR looking at Luna Pool!). From there we went to my favorite Vero Beach for 5 days (of course rental car required). Then back to SSR for 5 days. 20 days total. There was somewhat of a method to this madness so that we could use Magical Express both ways w/luggage boarding passes at the resorts ... and pickup dropoff rental car at the Dolphin. I digress. Frankly, it was a bit too much. We thought putting Vero Beach in the middle would break up the frenzy parks. BWV and Vero would have been enough.....maybe. And I say maybe because there was so much construction going on (in resorts, in parks, in Disney Springs), that it became distracting. If the chaos of constructions was not as prevalent, I may have felt differently? Don't know. Just anxious to get home after day 17.

We just did a trip from the 11th-22nd of October with one day dedicated to Universal...this was perfect, and we even felt not not ready to go home when we left. This may have had something to do with the fact that I had to be pushed around in a wheelchair for the last three days of my trip due to what I am convinced was Food poisoning.
GF and I went with friends, but weren't attached at the hip to them, and we frequently would meet them later in the day or at night for dinner/drinks. We also spent the first two days of our trip not in a theme park. Day one was spent arriving from the airport, exploring Port Orleans Riverside and having dinner with a friend at Morimoto Asia. Day two consisted of checking into Fort Wilderness, riding a golf cart and going canoeing.

On the flip side,
I did a trip in 2013 that was 8 days and felt just about right, but still a little rushed.
I did a trip back in 2003 that was 9 days and should have been 7.

I think it all has to do with the people you are traveling with.

I remember the first year we went as a family in 2005. I said to DW what can we possibly do for five straight days at an amusement park
Well I fell hard that year and ever since it's the eleven days I most look forward to every year :hyper:! When we joined DVC with the full kitchens and started mixing in some US/IOA days it made staying longer no problem. Even though we go annually I'm always still bummed when it's time to go home :sad2:

I got back from WDW in September with a solo trip that was a total of 17 nights (including 3 at Universal). I could have stayed at Disney forever except for the fact that by the end of week 2 I was knackered! I think I would've been able to keep going if I'd been with my friends but by myself there were definitely a couple of days where I decided to stay at the resort instead of hitting the parks because another 6am start was too much. It also meant by the time I got to the Darkside at the end of the trip I was a little theme parked out.

Wow, and on top of it...his name is "BeerMe" :worship:

This time we are going to plan on just our family of 4. We were thinking about 2 weeks, but we have never gone on a vacation for that long. Is that too long?
It is absolutely not too long. We took our first 2-week vacation years ago and couldn't believe what a difference it was from a "standard" 1-week vacation. It is an entirely different experience. We have since taken numerous 2-week trips, both to Disney and to other destinations.

Go for it and enjoy every minute with your family.

I think it depends on your touring style and your personality.

I think length of stay really dictates touring style. You generally think WDW is the 4 parks and don't understand how someone would want to be there 2 weeks or you've discovered all disney has to offer and can't figure out how to do shorter trips anymore.

My touring style differs depending on the reason and length of trip but it's never the 4 parks rush rush rush schedule anymore.

We did 14 days for our first trip. We stayed off-site and had a split hotel stay. We couldn't get the weekend at our preferred hotel so went another off-site near Universal for the weekend between. Split stay off-site was not the way to go. We were exhausted till we got home. After that trip I said been there, done that, not going back. Hadn't really researched much before that trip.

2 years later we went back for a week and didn't feel it was long enough. We found that 8-9 days was good. Now that it is just DH & me we do 5 -8 days depending on when and why we are going. We also do 1 night before and after cruises because I don't like getting to Florida the day of the cruise. Driving from WDW is much easier and having a stay for a day after the cruise gives us time to catch our transportation home without worrying about the ship getting in late.
